Sweet love was the last thing Anita Baker was doling out Tuesday (June 6) when she took to Twitter to set the record straight about her alleged beef with current tourmate Babyface.

The Queen of Quiet Storm caused a royal frenzy among her fans when she responded to critics who called her out about reported primadonna behavior during the ongoing ‘Songstress Tour,’ which allegedly includes blocking the legendary singer-producer from opening for her at the jaunt’s Newark stop at the top of May.

Despite both acts taking to press to clear up the confusion, Baker’s still been on the receiving end of harsh criticism from concertgoers who say she is routinely late to shows and more.

Tired of the hoopla, the 65-year-old hit back at some of the detractors head on. Look inside to see what she said.

As the hoopla carried over into the next day, the ‘Whip Appeal‘ hitmaker quickly hopped to the defense of his touring mate to clear up the confusion.

Four months after watching his latest studio effort, the star-studded ‘Girls’ Night Out,’ premiere and peak at #166 on the album charts, legendary singer-songwriter Babyface is looking to give the project another swing at the Billboard 200 bat by giving its previously released cut, ‘Liquor,’ the video treatment.

Sharing song and screen time with R&B starlet Ari Lennox, the duo are seen taking their talents to a sultry nightclub where the songstress shows off her stunning voice and figure while Babyface (born Kenneth Edmonds) portrays a bartender.

As the critical acclaim for Babyface‘s latest album, the October 21-released ‘Girls Night Out,’ continues to roll in, the legendary singer-songwriter is giving the ladies even more of a reason to cop the new set by unveiling the stunning music video for its housed tune, ‘Simple.’

Featuring Coco Jones, the Sara Lacombe-directed clip sees the two trade verses about lovers on the rocks who are reflecting on better days.

“Remember back when we had nothin’ in between / Before we had these issues, it’s nothin’ like it used to (Nothin’ like it used to) / They way it used to be when love was so easy / I know it’s sentimental (Yeah) / I wish it was that simple (Yeah), simple,” Jones croons on the chorus.

Nearly 7 years after earning his latest top 5 album on R&B charts, legendary singer-songwriter Babyface is aiming for a redo with his latest LP, ‘Girls Night Out.’

Released October 21, the project comes as his first under label home Capitol Records and was preceded to digital shelves by the #1 R&B hit ‘Keeps On Fallin’ with Ella Mai as well as the Kehlani-assisted ‘Seamless,’ the Queen Naija-assisted ‘Game Over,’ and the Baby Tate-enlisted ‘Don’t Even Think About It’ (as reported here).

Other notable names on the 13-track effort include Ari Lennox, Doechii, Sevyn Streeter, Muni Long, and others.

“Rather than just writing the songs, I collaborated with other producers and the artists themselves in terms of writing. It gave it a different experience and flavor, which allowed each artist to have their own thing. ‘Girls Night Out’ is really more about them than it is about me,” he said in a recent interview about the highly collaborative effort. “They’re very independent and have a good idea of who they are, and what they should say…If I’m pushing myself onto it, I don’t get them at all.”

Just weeks after unveiling another taste of content set to board the project, the Kehlani-assisted ‘Seamless‘ (click here to listen), the legendary singer-songwriter has gifted fans a music video for the LP’s Ella Mai-assisted lead single – ‘Keeps On Fallin.’

While the tune famously samples Tevin Campbell‘s eternal hit ‘Can We Talk’ (also penned by Babyface), its accompanying visual samples looks and feels from Netflix’s breakout drama ‘Bridgerton.’
