Katy Perry is renown for rocking a variety of looks, but her most pronounced trademark has been her dark hair.

Indeed, aesthetically when she hit the scene she halted Pop’s long-running obsession with  endless assembly line of blonde starlets.

Recent times have seen her pivot from her established look and some have attributed this to her shaky chart trajectory of late. Almost like a modern music take on Samson in the Bible.

But for those hoping for the return of the “Katy Perry” circa ‘I Kissed A Girl’ and ‘Teenage Dream,’ it doesn’t look like it’ll be happening anytime soon.

Just two weeks after nabbing a ratings winner with Kelly Rowland‘s ‘Merry Liddle Christmas,’ Lifetime struck TV gold again with another Platinum-selling R&B diva:  Ashanti.

As we reported here, the Grammy winner played double duty as she not only led the cast of ‘A Christmas Winter Song’ – one of the channel’s whopping 30 holiday films this season – but was also credited as a producer. Also starring Stan Shaw, Sashani Nichole, and many other familiar faces, ‘Song’ – which premiered on the women’s network on December 14 – went to ratings battle against some of cable’s top rated news, sports, and reality programming.

‘Tempo’ performer Lizzo saw her name speed to the top of headlines over the weekend when she donned a risqué, buttocks-baring ensemble to the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game Sunday (December 8).  As if that wasn’t enough, the 31-year-old broke out into a twerk when her song, ‘Juice,’ was played over the venue’s loud speaker.

Beyond garnering a bevy of complaints from concerned parents (as it was a family friendly event), some detractors pointed to the Platinum-selling singer’s size as the reason the outfit was inappropriate.  As heated discussions about the limits of body positivity, fat-shaming, and bias rage on, Liz took to social media to respond to the ongoing criticism – a commentary that led her to tears as she reflected on her journey to self-acceptance.

Despite garnering a whopping 16 nominations at the 71st annual Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this year, Ava DuVernay‘s Netflix miniseries – ‘When They See Us’ – received no recognition from The Hollywood Foreign Press Association when the organization announced the nominees for the 2020 Golden Globes on Monday (December 9).

The film, which tells the true story of five African American teens wrongfully convicted of the rape and assault of a jogger in New York’s Central Park in the late 80’s, was lauded by viewers and critics alike for its gripping content and outstanding acting. Now, thanks to the apparently none-too-impressed Golden Globes committee’s omission of the title from their list of nods, many are taking to social media to express their disappointment for its absence and the overall lack of racial diversity among this year’s class of nominees.

Camila Cabello fans, affectionately called #Camilizers, were undoubtedly excited and worried when the 22-year-old dropped her sophomore album, ‘Romance,’ last week (December 6).

The set – despite the singer’s onslaught of television, Web, and print promo in the months leading to its release – failed to garner a top 40 hit to precede it.  Beyond the monster success of her Shawn Mendes-duet ‘Senorita,’ which is included on the tracklist of ‘Romance’ but was originally featured on the deluxe edition of his self-titled third album, Cabello’s LP was believed by many to be released on the back of little buzz.

Peruse of iTunes charts around the globe, however, has seemingly canceled that presumption.

As of time reported, the effort has manged to hit #1 on the real-time sales tallies of the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, and over 45 other countries.  To add, it also sits at #1 on iTunes and Apple Music’s ‘Worldwide Album Sales’ charts.

Apparently an out-of-the-box success (even though industry analysts have yet to reveal their official predictions), Cabello is not resting on her laurels – a feat evidenced by her visit to ‘Ellen’ the day of the project’s release.  If you missed her stunning rendition of ‘Romance’ single ‘Living Proof,’ hop inside:

Liam Payne has unwrapped his debut album.

Aptly titled ‘LP1,’ the set serves as the latest solo offering to come from the One Direction stable.

Since setting sail on his singular journey with ‘Strip That Down,’ the singer has – more pronouncedly than his bandmates – driven in an Urban direction.

To see through his vision, he’s teamed with the likes of Quavo, Rita Ora, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie – the latter of whom features on the set’s latest single ‘Stack It Up.’

On the production front, the project boasts contributions from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Ryan Tedder, Zedd, Jonas Blue, Steve Mac, Joe London, and The Monsters and the Strangerz.

Does the set deliver? Listen below and let us know…
