Just two weeks after nabbing a ratings winner with Kelly Rowland‘s ‘Merry Liddle Christmas,’ Lifetime struck TV gold again with another Platinum-selling R&B diva: Ashanti.
As we reported here, the Grammy winner played double duty as she not only led the cast of ‘A Christmas Winter Song’ – one of the channel’s whopping 30 holiday films this season – but was also credited as a producer. Also starring Stan Shaw, Sashani Nichole, and many other familiar faces, ‘Song’ – which premiered on the women’s network on December 14 – went to ratings battle against some of cable’s top rated news, sports, and reality programming.

Viewership: = 1.08 million
Despite commanding a slightly larger audience than that of Rowland’s (which ranked #19 on its air date), Ashanti’s movie – with all elements considered – came in #33 due to heightened sports and news competition. However, for its viewership hour, ‘Winter Song’ hit a ratings high note by ranking #2 among scripted programs.
As it relates to all prime time telecasts, the film landed at #8.
