Today’s pick is ‘Chasing Pavements’ by the mighty Adele.
The second single of from the songbird’s debut effort ‘19,’ the ballad was written by Adele and produced by Eg White. Based on a previous failed relationship, it deals with moving on after being cheated on.
In the UK, the song peaked at #2. In the US, it gave the singer her first Billboard Hot 100 entry where it went to #21.
‘Pavement’ was nominated for three Grammy Awards and won the Best Female Vocal Performance.
Although it is supposed to be set in London, the video for the song was in fact lensed in Los Angeles.
Directed by Mathew Cullen, it depicts Adele as a witness of a car crash. The visual features stunning choreography from the couple involved in the collision and powerfully puts a unique spin on the song. It was nominated at the 2008 MTV VMA’s and has now amassed over 138 million views on YouTube.

In ten short years, Adele has established herself as one of music’s leading act and one of the most successful of her generation. Considering she only turned 30 this year, the thought of what the next decade has in store for her has us all sorts of amped.
She and her team seem to have mastered the art of dosage and know exactly just how much to give the public and how to keep us wanting more. Put simply, the what, when, and how.
With the singer keeping a low profile ever since the end of her last tour, it’s safe to assume that “Adele mania” will sweep through the music-scape when she’s ready to bless us with the follow up to ‘25.’ And we can’t wait.
