Praises have come pouring in for ‘Genie In A Bottle’ beauty Christina Aguilera for her stirring performance of ‘Say Something’ with A Great Big World at last night’s American Music Awards.

The ballad had already enjoyed a ride atop Itunes charts following its debut, but it seems Aguilera’s emotional showing – amidst high octane performances from Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, and more – won over enough fans to give the tune a boost back to #1.

They weren’t the only act to benefit from the ratings winning show:

Lady GaGa is not just accustomed to topping the charts, she’s also blazing the ratings too.

The ‘Applause’ singer earned just that during her ‘Saturday Night Live’ takeover this past weekend, thrilling with a well-received set of performances and skits in support of new album ‘ARTPOP’.

With all eyes on how the much-hyped episode would fare, the eccentric star silenced the naysayer with season-high numbers for the show.

The folks over at ‘X Factor USA’ are undoubtedly breathing a sigh of a relief after last night’s episode showed signs of improvement from Wednesday’s abysmal ratings showing.

Indeed, not even the likes of Paulina Rubio, Demi Lovato, and Kelly Rowland were able to sail the sinking ship that brought in a series low in ratings for its September 11th premiere.

Full story below (via THR):

“The second night of The X Factor‘s third season gave Fox a win among adults 18-49, though the singing competition still saw steep drops from last year’s comparable episode.

The two-hour auditions averaged a 2.2 rating with adults 18-49 and 6.8 million viewers. In the demo, that’s a tenth of a point improvement from Wednesday’s one-hour opener, but a 30 percent fall from the sophomore run’s Thursday debut (3.1 adults).”

The report above surfaced just a day after outlets slammed the show for its season 3 premiere rating of 6.2 million – 22% less than its season 2 premiere.

The cast of ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’ have much cause to celebrate today, now the ratings for the second half of their reunion special have hit the net!

Hitting VH1 at 8pm on Monday night, part two of their reunion brought in an audience of 4,126,000 million viewers- making it the highest rated cable program of the night.

Quite interestingly, this episode marks the second highest viewed episode of the entire season, outperforming its launch episode which secured 2.94 million viewers on April 22nd.

While failing to match or better its first half ( 4.19 million), the special’s ratings saw it best efforts made by FOX’s ‘Family Guy (2,870,000 million)’ and WWE Entertainment.

Coming in at #3, the Vince McMahon led wrestling series drew in 4,317 million with an Adult Rating  (18-49) of 1.6%!

When the likes of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Usher are taken out of the equation, R&B has oft struggled to find its footing in today’s terrain, struggling to match feats nabbed by its Pop adversaries.

Now, thanks to a number or radio programmers and label execs who’ve made it their mission to pour the genre’s best back into the mainstream, the last two years have seen a revival of the field….led by none other than ‘Let’s Just Be‘ sensation Miguel.

“The 9 p.m. airing delivered 1.77 million viewers (1.57 million of them women age 25-54). The second episode at 10 p.m. grew to 1.8 million viewers (1.67 million were women 25-54).”

Viewers may have been singing the show’s praises, but critics were singing a much different tune.

Via L.A. Times:

“Brian Lowry of Variety called the show “claustrophobically cheap, not to mention poorly written and indifferently acted.” He added that the show could potentially damage Winfrey’s legacy of uplift and self-empowerment.

Mary McNamara of the Los Angeles Times was even more scathing, calling the show ‘so awful that the awfulness appears intentional. Except that might make it interesting, and it just isn’t.'”
