Katy Perry is to bag between 10 and 15 million dollars for her forthcoming run on ‘American Idol.’

On a mission to rescue her ‘Witness’ era from the racism scandal she faces, the vocalist is set to collect the meaty amount from producers who are keen to revamp the series on a ratings front.

‘Vanity Fair‘ reports:

ABC raised the 15-year franchise from the dead well before it was cold in its Fox grave, causing consternation both within the network and outside of it—especially after two of Idol’s most starry alumni, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson, pointedly signed on to serve as judges on the next season of NBC’s The Voice instead of the undead series that made them famous. Clearly, Idol could use a big name both to shore up its judging panel and justify its quick return—and according to Entertainment WeeklyIdol had actually tried for years to sign Perry.

The publication adds…

Now that it finally has her, the network is allegedly offering her somewhere between $10 to $15 million.

Do you think she deserves that much?

Nicki Minaj is to storm the Ellen DeGeneres show next week to support her forthcoming album!

Determined to ensure the project (which is likely to drop in the fourth quarter of the year) doesn’t follow in the footsteps of its buzz cuts, the rapper will touch down on the series to promote it and share some very exciting news!

The show’s producers shared…

She’s here to give us the 411 on her two recent singles, including “No Frauds,” in which she references Ellen. The Hip-Hop superstar is also being honoured this weekend at the Billboard Awards, and will be opening the show. You’re going to need a spaceship with all this star power!

Though fans (and us here at TGJ) impatiently awaiting official new music from ‘Empire’ star Jussie Smollett, the singer/songwriter/actor continues to tease it and more by traipsing the promo trail.

His latest stop came courtesy of a recent drop by ‘Wendy’ where he not only dished on the latest happenings in his life, but also talked about his celebrity encounters (Beyonce, Mariah Carey, and more) and, of course, the show that’s made him a household name across the U.S.

Curious to hear how he got nervous meeting Beyonce or how MC cooked him a world class meal?  The stories await inside:

“Partner let me upgrade you”

According to new data, that’s exactly what Beyonce and Jay Z have done to one another. For, the music superstars have officially been christened a billion-dollar couple.

Forbes have complied statistics about the power pair which revealed their new status.

Said report puts their combined net-worth at a colossal $1.16 billion.

The monetary split is interesting.

As noted in a separate tally, Bey is believed to be worth $350 million – thanks largely to her music, touring, and fashion endeavours. Jay, however, brings the lion-share of the coin to the table with a fortune of $810 million.

Jigga’s total factors in his Roc Nation empire, which just grew bigger after he inked a $200 million 10-year deal with Live Nation. There’s also his streaming service TIDAL, which for all its woes, got a measured lease of life after Sprint bought a sizeable percentage at the start of the year.

Winning would be an understatement.

At this junction, The Carters are an empire. More power to them.

LeToya Luckett is pounding the promotional pavement in support of her third studio album ‘Back 2 Life.’

The indie set was unleashed last Friday and has been received well by fans and critics alike.

Upon its roll-out, it hit #1 on the iTunes R&B Chart.

Hoping to give it an additional boost, the Destiny’s Child original stopped by Good Day LA to perform the project’s title track.

Find out how she fared below…

Solid.

We’re eager to hear our favourite cuts ‘Show Me’ and ‘Disconnected’ receive the live treatment too.

Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry have both been pushing new music in the early portion of 2017.

Now, it’s emerged that the pair have teamed up together.

EW confirms that the ladies have linked up for new song named ‘Swish Swish’ from Perry’s upcoming 4th studio album ‘Witness.’

The track, which is described as a “fun dance song,” has no specific release date beyond the June 9th arrival of the LP.

However, many are speculating that it could arrive sooner than expected. Especially in light of Onika’s Twitter tease moments ago:

Could this unlikely duo be gearing up for a big reveal come Friday – as many of the Barbz and Katy Cats are interpreting?

Stay tuned.

Who run the world? Girls!

As the charts and tour tallies highlight, females remain a formidable force in the music industry.

Forbes highlights the lofty levels noted names have ascended to with their newly released list of Wealthiest Female Musicians Of 2017.

Head below to find out where your fave ranks…

1. Madonna ($580 million)

Her Rebel Heart tour, which ended in March 2016, grossed $170 million. She also cashes in on clothing and perfume. A savvy spender, Madonna has scooped up New York real estate and fine art–reportedly including works by Picasso and Man Ray–as well as a stake in Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service.

2. Celine Dion ($400 million)

Last February, Dion resumed a Las Vegas residency that had been on hiatus for a month after her husband’s death. She’s back to playing 70-odd times a year at Caesar’s Palace, where she made $27 million in 2016; a Canada native, she’s earned most of her money in Sin City, hence her inclusion here.

3. Barbra Streisand ($390 million)

Her $46 million gross for 14 shows last year added to a career tour tally in the hundreds of millions. Streisand has also been shrewd with that haul, particularly with her real estate investments: sources believe her Malibu compound, reportedly purchased for under $20 million, could be worth close to $100 million.

4. Beyoncé ($350 million)

Last year’s Lemonade was her sixth solo No. 1 album—and spawned the Formation World Tour, which grossed a quarter of a billion dollars. Expecting twins with her husband, Jay Z, Beyoncé is taking a break from the stage, but has still taken time to voice support for causes like Black Lives Matter.

5. Taylor Swift ($280 million)

The success of her 1989 tour, which smashed North American touring records en route to a quarter-billion-dollar gross in 2015, established Swift as one of the world’s top entertainers. Even when she has a quiet year, as she did in 2016, she continues to earn from music, endorsements and merchandise.

Kudos to all the ladies mentioned.

We’re quite surprised at the omission of a certain Ms. Fenty, though. Things that make you go hmm.

When they went their separate ways members of the group Xscape permeated Pop culture by penning cuts for the likes of Destiny’s Child and TLC.

This year, the ladies have put their differences aside to ensure that their own Pop culture standing remains in tact by reuniting!

Their first stop?

The Essence Festival!

We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the return of Xscape than in New Orleans with our fans at the world famous, Essence Festival. Essence Fest is so much more than a music festival, it’s a celebration of culture, music and entertainment. We are excited and honored to be included in an incredible line up of artists and performers, including the living legend, Diana Ross!
The event kicks off on June 29th and ends on July 2nd!

As far as social media groups go, Black Twitter undoubtedly stands as one of net’s (and Pop culture’s) longest and strongest reigning force.

How one might define it?

A digital water cooler where African Americans exchange ideas and opinions that are centered on the Black experience.

Often sourced, but never compensated, for the ideas it generates for brands and publications, Black Twitter and its influence haven’t gone unnoticed by Twitter itself who- eager to understand just how influential it truly is- has teamed up with BET to launch a comprehensive study into it.

The businesses will unveil their findings next month.

Why do you think corporations are keen to bite into Black Twitter’s digital pie?

Fans of Camila Cabello are crying tears of joy because the former Fifth Harmony belter has officially announced debut solo single ‘Crying In The Club.’

The track is being issued as the lead release from the 20-year-old’s first studio album ‘The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving’ (due later this year).

Ahead of its Friday arrival, Cabello has unwrapped the artwork for the single.

Check it out below…

Much ado has been made about Camila’s foray onto solo terrain, so we’re naturally keen to hear what she’s been cooking up.

She was reared as the unofficial lead of 5H, so it goes without saying that now will be show and prove time to see if she has what it takes engage the masses alone.

Roll on May 19th.

Rita Ora may be readying new single ‘Your Song’ for release later this month, but she’s not vacating the TV the arena. Quite the contrary, in fact.

For, the former ‘X Factor’ judge ‘Voice UK’ coach, and ‘America’s Next Top Model’ host has booked a new gig – this time at ABC.

The network may have just nabbed the rights to ‘American Idol,’ but before then they announced a summer singing competition named ‘Boy Band.’

Well, according to Variety, Ora has been tapped to host the show which aims to piece together America’s next big boyband from a pool of contestants.

Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter has signed on as a judge alongside Spice Girls singer Emma Bunton.

So how will the format differ to Idol and the plethora of shows in the same space?

First and foremost hopefuls will battle for spots in a band with a recording contract at Hollywood Records. Viewers voting live at home will influence the sway of affairs by picking their five favorite potential members.

As for the judges, they will be called “architects” and will serve as mentors too.

‘Boy Band’ airs this summer on ABC.

On the surface, this is giving ‘Making The Band’ meets ‘The Voice’ with sprinkles of several other shows already on offer.

That said, it does sound interesting. What’s more, sometimes the best shows are amalgamations of many others rather than an outright new concept.

In any case, we’re willing to give this a chance. Are you?
