Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’ allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature “Chart Rewind” – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

Next, it’s all about ‘What About Us’ – the lead single from R&B veteran Brandy‘s 3rd album ‘Full Moon.’  Written by Lashawn Daniels, Rodney Jerkins, and Brandy, the 2002-released bop – produced by Jerkins – was a surprising foray into alternative R&B by Bran (who up to that point was better known for her more standard R&B leaning numbers).  Released at the top of the year, ‘What’ – with the assistance of a kickass futuristic Dave Meyers music video – eventually moseyed its way up to the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 where it peaked at #7 this week 15 years ago.

Tuck in below to relive her last top 10 hit on the pop chart and see who joined her in the top 25 this week in 2002:

Days after learning he entered history books for nabbing two consecutive chart-toppers in successive weeks on the Billboard 200, ‘HNDRXX’ hitmaker Future has unveiled yet another music video in support of the project.

Titled ‘Use Me,’ the cinematic clip sees the rapper travel in time to meet his younger self.  Reflecting on the issues of his youth – addressing everything from poverty to drugs and everything between – the piece makes not only makes for a compelling watch, but a welcomed departure from his visual standard fare (see: booty shaking heauxs, materialism, etc.).

In the wake of advances from the likes of Chainsmoker‘s ‘Something Just Like This,’ Bruno Mars’That’s What I Like,’ Rihanna‘s ‘Love on the Brain,’ and even impressive staying power by former #1 ‘Bad & Boujee’ by Migos, singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran‘s ‘Shape of You’ has managed to pencil its name atop the Hot 100 yet again.

Thanks to some handsome digital sales, undoubtedly boosted by a whirlwind promotional schedule that’s seen him hit the Grammys, ‘SNL,’ ‘iHeart Radio Music Awards,’ Brit Awards, and the American talk show circuit in less than three weeks, Sheeran’s ‘Shape’ signs on to the tally’s perch for a sixth non-consecutive week.  And, as we reported here, the set’s highly anticipated parent album – ‘Divide’– is set to follow suit with a rule over next week’s Billboard 200 (click here to read more about that).

Interestingly, though hitting many of the same outlets and award shows to promote her latest number, ‘Chained to the Rhythm,’ pop star Katy Perry‘s most recent Hot 100 run is not singing a similar tune.  Even with its notable #4 premiere on the tally two weeks ago (to some of her lowest recent debut figures), Perry’s Sia-penned socially conscious hit has been on the decline despite the release of its supporting visual.

Falling out of the top 10 in just its third week, tuck in below to see who joins Sheeran and the ‘Roar’ singer on this week’s updated Chart Check:
