After a lengthy break on the bench, ‘TGJ Replay’ is back!

Designed much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ features, ‘Replay’ is That Grape Juice‘s newest retrospective segment – a written quest, if you will, to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday.

Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase entire albums (and eras) from a library of pop and Urban pop music hits.  As this week brought with it the 36th birthday of R&B veteran Usher, our latest ‘Replay’ will “fast backward” to his tertiary hit album ‘8701.’

It’s that time of year again.

The American Music Awards are around the corner, which means there’s no time better than the present to unveil the list of nominees for the 2014 edition of the show.

Set to air on November 23rd live from Los Angeles, this year sees Iggy Azalea and John Legend lead the pack with six nominations a piece. Pharrell Williams follows with five, while chart force Beyonce earns four – notably in a number of major categories.

Interestingly, the criteria for nominations are sales, airplay, activity on social networks, and video viewing. The period of eligibility for singles and albums released is between 1 December of the previous year and 1 September of the current year. A fact which makes Ariana Grande‘s  omission an intriguing story in itself.

In any case, peep the full list of nominees below…

Ever keen on keeping the masses abreast of fresh and/or often underrated talent, That Grape Juice presents ‘The Spill’ – a renewed look at not-so-new, yet active, acts.

Much like its ‘Freshly Squeezed’ sister segment, this revived assay aims to put the magnifying glass on talents who may not appeal to the buying public on a broad scale yet are still serving material that could easily spin side-by-side with some of today’s top hits.

Covering a kaleidoscope of genres, ‘The Spill’ is set to feature some names you probably know and love as well as some you’ll (soon) be glad to know.  Click below to find out the spill on Estelle, Jennifer Hudson, Teyana Taylor, Luke James, and Traci Braxton

“My b*tch is so gorgeous…I might pay her mortgage.”

The line above can be found somewhere in ‘Looking for You’, the latest release by  Pop prince Justin Bieber!

Featuring Atlanta’s very own Migos, the number sees the star continue his flirtation with Urban Contemporary, but-unlike ‘All That Matters’ and the stellar ‘Confident‘- sees him embrace the generic, doing away with the personality that made the aforementioned jams the hits that they were, to release what feels like a Chris Brown throwaway.

Will you like it?

For, after doing his part to push R&B to the forefront of Pop culture via cuts penned for Usher, Chris Brown and Justin Bieber, a lucrative new deal signed with industry power-player Lyor Cohen will see his own career take centre stage.
