As their hit ‘Black Beatles’ continues to do the #mannequinChallenge in the top 5 of the Hot 100, rap duo Rae Sremmurd continues their traipse on the promo trail to ensure such remains the case.
Their most recent stop? ‘Ellen.’
Taking their biggest hit to the daytime talk show, Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi got the crowd moving (and not moving) by participating in their viral challenge.
See it all inside:
“They were calling me coon, calling me house n***er, calling me Aunt Jemima, calling me all kinds of names and asking me to kill myself…and that was from the black community.”
The stinging quote above was delivered by Jennifer Holliday as she recounted the vicious backlash she received for agreeing to perform at president elect Donald Trump‘s inauguration special. Interestingly, Holliday says it wasn’t the negative response from the Black community that acted as the true catalyst for her to reverse her decision to perform at Trump’s “Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration” concert on January 19 at the Lincoln Memorial. Instead, it was the kick back from the LGBT community:
“All the tweets that I read from the African American community were directed directly at me. The tweets from the gay community took the issues and did not call me names. Also they have been a faithful community since Dreamgirls to me, and fed me even when the church people didn’t feed me.”

As he prepares for a Dubai-based boxing battle with Chris Brown, Soulja Boy continues his war of words with the Grammy-winning R&B singer by taking to the studio for the new diss track, ‘Stop Playing With Me.’
A clapback to the Mike Tyson diss track inspired by the entertainers’ feud, Soulja’s ‘Stop’ is aimed at Tyson and Brown and will undoubtedly fuel yet another response from the duo.

Hard to believe we are less than 3 weeks away from the highly anticipated Super Bowl Halftime Show, starring pop superstar Lady Gaga. The diva – still enjoying the critical success of her latest effort ‘Joanne’ – is reportedly hard at work rehearsing for the spectacle many expect to be one of the biggest the platform has ever seen.
But, with a surprising lack of buzz for the forthcoming showing (compared to the hype preceding the event in years past), Gaga took to Twitter to “confirm” speculation that a huge announcement will follow the February 5th performance at Houston’s NRG Stadium.
Will the ‘Poker Face’ performer play a card similar to Katy Perry, Beyonce, Madonna, and more from the past?
We are over two weeks removed from Mariah Carey‘s shambolic performance at ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,’ but it’s still very much a hot topic of discussion among those closest to her.
As the finger pointing between Carey’s team and Dick Clark Productions sees no sign of ceasing, the pop icon’s ex-husband – Nick Cannon – took the opportunity to weigh in on the matter when he visited ‘Ellen’ today. Citing ‘fluster’ as the reason for the diva’s lip sync fail, Cannon told the talk show audience:
That’s not all he said. Tuck in below to hear his full analysis of the unfortunate incident:
Wyclef Jean is the latest name to fall foul of public favour in today’s climate of race debate.

Mariah Carey may have made headlines for all the wrong reasons at the top of the year, but that hasn’t dented her ability to book a gig.
The self-proclaimed elusive chanteuse reportedly earned a seven-figure pay-day from Russian billionaire Valery Koga to perform at the wedding of his granddaughter.
A mini-set of sorts, Carey’s showing seemed to down well with attendees. But a closer listen to what projected from the speakers has us a lil concerned for our girl.

Martin Luther King day is to thank for J. Cole’s latest release.
Its name? ‘High For Hours.’
Its purpose? To reflect on what has changed and remained the same in society since the civil rights leader’s murder.
I had a convo with the president, I paid to go and see him
Thinking bout the things I said I’d say when I would see him
Feeling nervous, sitting in a room full of white folks
Thinking about the black man plight, think I might choke, nope
