The Soul Train Awards 2023 rolled into Los Angeles for a celebration like no other.

Hosted by Keke Palmer, the latest instalment of the famed show honored the releases in the R&B realm and beyond.

Southern University may have emerged the victor at the 50th annual Bayou Classic showdown on Saturday (November 25), but it was Fantasia who scored the biggest touchdown with viewers.

Taking a break from promoting the December 25-due ‘Color Purple,’ the GRAMMY winner took New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome by storm when she hit the field during the football game’s halftime show to rock out some of her biggest songs like ‘When I See U’ and more with the SU marching band.

After rocking WEtv ratings with their hit reality series ‘Brat Loves Judy,’ rapper Da Brat and wife Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart join forces to repeat the feat with the one-time spinoff ‘Brat Loves Judy: the Baby Special.’

Chronicling the journey to the birth of their son True Legend, the five-part special will not only give viewers a peek at some of the growing family’s most private moments through interviews (featuring the celebrity couples as well as those closest to them) but also with never-before-seen videos and much more.

“From changing dirty diapers, to breast pumping and middle of the night wake ups, we’ll witness a new side of the couple as they navigate motherhood,” the official plotline reads. “How will the added pressure and stress of a baby impact Brat and Judy’s relationship and work-life? Will they be able to navigate fame and family with a new baby?”

Beyonce stepped in style at the Los Angeles premiere of her hotly anticipated ‘Renaissance’ film.

Co-directed by Queen Bey herself, the big screen extravaganza chronicles the historic ‘Renaissance World Tour’ – which broke records in earnest.

Set for release on December 1, the movie – aptly titled ‘Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce’ – also shared rare behind the scenes moments from various corners of her life – including the creative process of piecing together the trek, motherhood, and more.

Of the latter, a confirmed on-screen reunion of all five Destiny’s Child members also features.

As reported, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and DC originals LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson were in attendance at the LA launch.

On Saturday night (November 25), the stars aligned for the Los Angeles premiere of Beyonce‘s ‘Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé.’

Ahead of the highly anticipated concert film’s wide release on Friday (December 1), famous guests donned their best black and silver looks (an homage to the movie’s theme) and took to L.A.’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater at the headquarters of Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences for a private screening.

In addition to appearances from Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams and LeToya Luckett, big names like Lizzo, Halle and Chloe Bailey, Lupita Nyong’o, Tyler Perry, Janelle Monáe, Issa Rae, Niecy Nash-Betts, Gabrielle Union, Ava DuVernay, Coco Jones, Lena Waithe, Kris Jenner, Robin Thede, Jeremy Pope, Laverne Cox, and Marsai Martin walked the carpet.

Taped at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, the annual Grio Awards – hosted by actor-comics Roy Woods Jr. and Sheryl Underwood – aired Saturday night (November 25) and gave nods to the achievements of African Americans across fashion, entertainment, sports, philanthropy, business, environmental and social justice, and education.

Among the 2023 honorees was Mariah Carey, who not only stands in Billboard records book as the most-decorated chart-topper in Hot 100 history (among soloists) but is also one of the best-selling female singers of all time.

Beyond accepting the night’s Music Icon Award, Mariah saw her timeless catalog toasted via a tribute rendered by Coco Jones, Boyz II Men, Patti LaBelle, and Jennifer Hudson.
