This week’s Billboard charts are soaked from ‘Lemonade’ and ‘Purple Rain.’
As we reported here, Grammy winning diva Beyonce entered history books again this week when she saw every song from her latest #1 album, ‘Lemonade,’ debut on the Hot 100. Landing 5 of the 12 tracks in the top 30, the only act with a more impressive showing would be pop icon Prince.
For, as reported , the ‘Purple Rain’ singer sold nearly 4 million singles and album in the days succeeding his untimely passing. As the actual date of his death was the end of a Billboard tracking week, some of those sales spilled over into this charting week. Placing 6 of his legendary tunes in the top 30, his feat is all the more impressive when one considers the extremely limited streaming availability of his catalog.
