Another week, another win for JAY-Z.
After an ostentatious launch on TIDAL and a super swift issuing of Platinum plaque (thanks to Sprint), the rapper’s ‘4:44’ album finally impacted all outlets.
The move meant the LP would at last be subject to traditional tracking.
Now, with the numbers and charts tallied, it’s all sorts of official – Jigga is #1 on the Billboard 200.
On-par with initial forecast, Nielsen data shows that the much discussed project shifted 262,000 (sales plus streaming), with 172,000 being pure sales.
The feat extends the Hip-Hop titan’s record as the solo artist with the most #1 albums in the 61-year history of the Billboard 200 chart. He has 13, while Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand both have 11].
‘4:44’ also furthers Mr Carter’s own record as the artist with the most debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200, as all of his albums have opened in the top slot.

Congrats.
It’ll be interesting to see if the project has lengthy legs of longevity.
