Has Azealia Banks started a movement?

Indeed, after gaining support in the form of Solange Knowles, Nicki Minaj, and more regarding her disapproval of rapstress Iggy Azalea’s status in hip-hop, more and more are coming out of the woodwork to do the same.

As we speak, a thing or two about hip hop culture is being shared by ‘Vivrant Thing’ rapper Q-Tip via a lengthy Twitter tirade aimed at the Aussie hitmaker.

“Maybe I should’ve been born white then all of my music would go straight to mainstream…”

“I look better, produce better, write better, and perform better than damn near everybody and this is the thanks I get?”

The quotes above are just two of many fiery statements lifted from Grammy-nominated R&B singer Tank‘s Instagram today (December 19).

Upon learning that a music video would not be financed for his latest single ‘Stronger,’ the multi-talented singer/songwriter lent a lengthy speech to the social media network to break down his frustration with his record label, lack of support of R&B from fans, and status of the genre in the music industry overall.

Despite landing top 5 placement on the Billboard 200 with one of the biggest R&B records of 2013 (‘Three Kingz’ by TGT), Tank has not been able to match that success by his lonesome.  The feat not only fueled his rant, but also saw him allude to never making another “true R&B record” again.

As artists like Beyonce, Chris Brown, Jhene Aiko, August Alsina, Trey Songz, K. Michelle, D’Angelo, and more are finding real success with “real R&B” records, do you feel Tank is wrong in his assessment?

It seems ‘Black Widow’ beauty Iggy Azalea finds new foes across the web everyday.

As if the constant struggle to defend her credibility was not enough, the Australian rapstress is often on the defense against scathing attacks from those accusing her of “misappropriating” black culture.  The most recent of the aforementioned was launched just days ago courtesy of longtime nemesis Azealia Banks (see the fiery response from Azalea here).

The heated e-altercation has ignited a polarizing debate amongst spectators with most of them seemingly siding with Banks.  The latest backers of Banks, however, come in a surprising form – the ‘AnonMessage’ Twitter group.

Best known for hacking the official KKK Twitter account and bringing to light private information about officer Darren Wilson (Missouri policeman who escaped indictment after killing unarmed African American male Mike Brown), the “e-vigilante” group has demanded Iggy apologize to the Yung Rapunxel by Sunday night (December 21) or else…

Jennifer Hudson has been booking stages aplenty all year round thanks to the release of her third studio album, ‘JHUD’.

Indeed, the campaign for the project has seen the Grammy and Oscar winner maintain quite the media presence – despite the LP’s performance.

Her latest showing aired last night on CBS’ ‘A Home For The Holidays’ special.

The vocalist showcased the length and breadth of her powerful pipes during her unique take on Leonard Cohen’s classic ‘Hallelujah’, which – in more recent years – has become synonymous with UK X Factor winner Alexandra Burke.

Solange Knowles isn’t the only entertainer showing a little love to Azealia Banks this week.

For, after revealing that she believes black women aren’t given enough credit for their contributions to Pop culture and society in general, Nicki Minaj used Twitter to thank Banks for supporting her new album ‘The Pinkprint.’

Quite interestingly, Banks echoed similar sentiments during a headline-grabbing conversation Hot 97’s Ebro Darden, unaware that Minaj had discussed the very same topic with the very same Darden days earlier.

A case of great minds thinking alike? Perhaps.

With the abysmal ‘Britney Jean’ behind her and a hot Vegas residency at the top of her ‘things to do list,’ ‘Work B*tch’ beauty Britney Spears has been doing just that for most of the year.  A feat keeping her out of headlines and off of charts, the pop princess’s recent reemergence afront ‘Women’s Health’ magazine immediately sent fans in to suspect Spears’s 2015 will be quite the opposite of the year prior.

Their suspicions confirmed when ‘Work’ rapstress Iggy Azalea took to radio to announce she and Spears had recorded a song set to be the Grammy winner’s lead single from her yet-titled new album, the good news came just in time and as a welcomed distraction for the #BritneyArmy who’d spend their week defending their leader from claims of airbrushing and digital alteration on her most recent magazine outing.

New movie alert!

90 years after the release of the comic series ‘Little Orphan Annie’ comes ‘Annie‘, the latest film adaptation of the timeless Harold Gray release.

Due out in movie theatres today, the movie nabbed a healthy dose of promo this week, when its stars Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz made their way to the UK to raise awareness for the movie on ‘The Graham Norton Show.’

After signing with the Lil Wayne-led label to further her career in rap music, ‘Tragedy’ rapper Nicki Minaj has revealed that she was once cut loose from ‘Young Money.’

Surprising fans with the news during the second half of her recent interview with Hip Hop tastemaker Elliott Wilson, the entertainer revealed that she was dropped and subsequently brought back by/to the label following a breakdown in her relationship with her ‘Only‘ collaborator.
