Songs like ‘Love,’ ‘Half Crazy,’ and ‘Don’t Change’ may have brought Grammy-nominated R&B crooner Musiq Soulchild to fame, but fans looking for more tunes like the aforementioned from the Philly native may have to wait awhile.
For, after first testing the Urban waters with his crunk-infused number ‘Radio’ (the lead single from his 2008 album ‘OnMyRadio’), it appears Soulchild is taking things a step further with a newly unveiled rap alter ego named The Husel.
In a bid to increase his presence on charts and radio alike, the singer/songwriter argues that his former moniker rendered him less marketable.
“For whatever reason, R&B is struggling. I’m the type of person who likes to entertain people based on what they’re saying entertains them, and right now this sound is what’s entertaining them.
As an artist, songwriter and producer I sit back and listen and say, ‘Okay, if that’s what y’all like, I can do that.’”
