Sam Smith and Mary J.Blige wowed Harlem’s ‘Apollo‘ with a rousing serving of ‘Stay With Me’ yesterday evening, performing the song at the album release show for Smith’s ‘In the Lonely Hour.’

Currently in a chart battle with Lana Del Rey‘s ‘Ultraviolence’, the album’s US unveiling was celebrated by attendees of the show who saw last night what you can now see, and no doubt enjoy, below!

Business is booming for biopics. Indeed, with narratives about the lives of Whitney Houston, Aaliyah, and Bessie Smith all on the horizon, it’s clear the real-life retellings have big appeal these days.

The latest comes courtesy of Rap pioneers N.W.A.

Christened, ‘Straight Outta Compton’, the Universal Pictures production will arrive in US theaters on August 14th 2015.

Yet, ever since murmurings about the movie gained momentum, many have been wondering who’ll be stepping into the sneakers of the iconic West Coast collective.

Brand Beyonce strikes again!

The world may not have seen her rock the big screen since 2009’s ‘Obsessed’, but the cosmetics arm of Beyonce‘s empire continues to churn out gifts in abundance, now setting its sights on the sweet smell of success with new fragrance ‘Wild Orchid.’

To be sold under ‘Heat Wild Orchid‘, the new scent will grace the world in the August of this year, with B no doubt hoping to woo consumers with the “enticing, mouth-watering fragrance that emits a fierce, feminine energy.”

Firmenich Perfumer Honorine Blanc have the pleasure of presenting the fragrance alongside the ‘Gift from Virgo’ singer, doing so after the arrival of her ‘On the Run Tour’ on June 25th, set to be embarked on alongside husband Jay Z!

Days after learning of ‘Lifetime’s plan to release a biopic on the star, Aaliyah‘s immediate family has now vowed to block the movie’s production, reportedly planning to take legal steps towards having it shut down before filming begins this summer.

Oh, Azealia Banks.  Hair is certainly the nicest thing the ‘Yung Rapunxel’ has let down since her eye-popping debut onto the rap scene.

In addition to letting down fans with innumerable pushbacks of her debut album ‘Broke With Expensive Taste,’ the fiery femcee has (not so gently) let down any Twitter user who’d dare cross her path.

Oft-attributed with dispensing unforgiving and, at times, well crafted shade, the ‘ATM Jam’ maestra has taken to Twitter on many occasion to light into many-a-well known pop culture figure from Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton to Pharrell Williams and now T.I.

Love her or hate her, one thing you cannot deny is Banks’ ability to cash in on and court public attention.  With discussions of her host of eccentric yet lukewarm-received singles/videos at a minimum, news that incites ridicule from nemeses, haters, and spectators alike, Banks – the cultural figure at large – still remains a talking point.

So, it begs the question:  is Azealia Banks winning?

Michelle Williams is wasting no time building on the buzz for her current single ‘Say Yes (ft. Beyonce & Kelly Rowland)’. For, moments after the video for the track debuted, the vocal powerhouse has revealed the cover for its parent album ‘Journey To Freedom’.

The stunning shot was lensed and premiered by famed photographer Derek Blanks.

Reportedly due in September, ‘Freedom’ is preceded by, of course, ‘Yes’, as well as ‘If We Had Your Eyes’ and ‘Fire’.

Hand in hand with Jay Z and ‘Live Nation’, Beyonce releases a brand new commercial shot in aid of their ‘On the Run Tour‘s Parisian dates!

Sold as the “only opportunity for fans in Europe” to see the show, the tour will rock ‘Stade De France’ for two nights on September 12th and 13th, no more than a year after the release of Carter’s self-titled surprise album, which spawned the rising smash hit single ‘Pretty Hurts.’

Jennifer Lopez‘ ‘AKA‘ may be destined for commercial failure, but today sees Lana Del Rey avoid such a fate with the release of her new video, ‘Shades of Cool.’

Released before its parent album ‘Ultraviolence‘ is set to top the Billboard 200 with a predicted first week figure of 200,000 units, the video comes courtesy of Rey and director Jake Nava and explores Rey’s love of “silver surfers”, decadence and dramatic storytelling.
