As the world slowly, but surely returns to normal, expect to see more and more artists not only hop to make up for lost time but also race to meet the Recording Academy’s updated August 31 cutoff for consideration at GRAMMYs 2022.

Evidence of this came Friday (June 11), which has marked the most jam-packed music release date of the year to date.

A Hip Hop-heavy heap of hopeful hits, Migos led the charge by delivering their long-awaited fourth studio album, ‘Culture III’ (the latest installment in the ‘Culture’ series).  Elsewhere, femcees ran the show as Megan Thee Stallion and Doja Cat dropped new gems while Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Latto served as features on male-led Rap releases.

In the Pop realm, Jessie J returned with her banging single, ‘I Want Love,’ while the likes of Ava Max, Kylie Minogue, Bebe Rexha, Lorde, and Maroon 5 all made their respective presences felt across the new music scene.

After conquering screen and stage to the tune of GRAMMY, TONY, and EMMY wins, singer-actress Cynthia Erivo is ready to reign over charts as evidenced by the announcement of her September 17-due debut album, ‘Ch. 1 vs. 1.’

When discussing the LP’s unique title, Erivo stated it was all about storytelling.

“In storytelling, chapter one and verse one is the way you always begin, and because I believe I’m a storyteller, that’s what I wanted to do with my music,” she said. “That’s what this is about, just starting [and revealing] the human parts of me that you don’t often get to see.”

Ahead of its fall arrival, the 34-year-old has shared the music video for its first official single – ‘The Good’ – which she describes as her attempt to “normalize seeing Black women in a relationship on screen because often it’s really fetishistic.”

After three action-packed seasons, ‘Pose’ climaxed in a blaze of glory with its penultimate episode.

As fans wave goodbye to the gripping (and game-changing) ballroom drama, three of its central figures assemble for a stunning Harper’s Bazaar feature spread.

MJ Rodriguez and Indya Moore, who play Blanca and Angel Evangelista respectively, are joined by Janet Mock who – in her role as executive producer and writer – serves as one of the show’s driving forces.

Fan-favorite Dominque Jackson (Elekra) was set to appear alongside the ladies on the cover but fell ill on the day of shooting. Still, she joins the trio (remotely) in weighing in on the impact of ‘Pose.’  An impact that is just as resonant with them as it is with the viewing public.
