Kendrick Lamar Not Like Us

One of the biggest four awards handed out every year at the GRAMMYs, the prestigious Record of the Year trophy has mostly eluded rappers over the ceremony’s 67-year history.

A losing streak broken in 2019 when Childish Gambino captured the award for his chart-topping hit ‘This Is America,’ no emcee has laid hands on the coveted golden gramophone since.

Well, that is until the 2025 iteration of the show.

Lady Gaga in the 'Abracadabra' Music Video

Lady Gaga is full of surprises. For, fresh from rocking the GRAMMY Awards 2025 with Bruno Mars, Mother Monster officially launched her new single ‘Abracadabra.’

First previewed during a commercial break on the telecast, Gaga wasted no time unleashing the full track alongside its accompanying music video.

A high-octane affair, the track is the latest taste of the Pop force’s forthcoming seventh studio album, ‘Mayhem’ (due March 7 via Interscope).

The choreography-heavy clip follows the visuals for #1 smash ‘Die With A Smile’ and ‘Disease.’

The Weeknd is leaving few stones unturned in promotion of his latest album, ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow,’ including mending fences with the Recording Academy after years of beef with the institution.

A leading advocate against the GRAMMYs for their alleged lack of transparency in their voting process, the Canadian hitmaker (born Abel Tesfaye) previously took to press to announce a permanent boycott of music’s biggest night after being snubbed for his blockbuster album ‘After Hours.’

Thanks to a slew of DEI initiatives helmed by current Academy president Harvey Mason Jr., however, it appears Tesfaye finally had a change of heart.

Coming as the night’s surprise performer, the 4x GRAMMY winner took to the stage to unveil rocking live performances of hits ‘Cry for Me’ and ‘Timeless.’

With four first-time nominations to her credit, Doechii entered the 2025 GRAMMYs as a fan-favorite in her categories that includes the coveted Best New Artist honor.

While she lost the race in the Best Remixed Recording and Best Rap Performance lineups during the ceremony’s pre-show, she made history with her acceptance of the Best Rap Album trophy in its main show.
