With highs that include chart-topping gospel and rap albums to lows that include legal woes and murder trials, Snoop Dogg’s story is certainly one comprised of its fair share of engaging and unexpected twists and turns.  That idea was easily the muse for the semi-biographical, recently announced ‘Redemption of a Dogg’ stage play written, produced, and directed award-winning playwright Je’caryous Johnson.

Chronicling the DoggFather’s “multi-faceted character as a gangsta rapper, family man and man of God,” the theatrical production – Snoop’s first – will also feature another well-known and (at times) controversial figure, Tamar Braxton.

Rihanna may be serving Avon-lady of late – selling socks, sneakers, and make-up – but make no mistake: RiRi has music on the mind.

According to a new report, recording is well-underway for the star’s next project – which may manifest in the form two albums.

Per initial sources, the 30-year-old is prepping Pop and Caribbean-kissed LPs.

As the commercial and critical acclaim continues to roll in for the first ever authorized documentary about the rise and fall of music’s most spectacular voice, the late Whitney Houston, her family – namely her mother/singer Cissy Houston – continues to grapple with some of the revelations made in the flick.

In addition to addressing the pop icon’s introduction and consequent addiction to drugs, believed battles with her sexuality, and more, one of the most shocking reveals of the film was her alleged childhood molestation by cousin/singer Dee Dee Warwick.  Cissy reportedly did not find out about the allegations until she saw the film’s final product.

With fans still reeling from the alarming news, the 84-year-old has joined her famous niece, Dionne Warwick, and taken to press to address the hoopla and refute a number of the claims made in the film.  Read their lengthy statement in full inside:

Diddy has never been one to hold his tongue, so it’s little wonder why he’s telling it as he sees it in the newest issue of Vanity Fair. 

Appearing in feature as promo for FOX show ‘The Four,’ which he is a judge on, the entrepreneur seized the moment to share his view on broader cultural issues.

During his frank chat, he vented about how show-business’ fascination with Black culture has yet to translate into investment into Black enterprise. He also waxed honest about his Revolt network, the #MeToo movement, his next move, and more.

Beyonce‘s decision to step away from ‘A Star is Born‘s latest remake served as good news for her sister in song Lady GaGa who stepped in to fill the vacant role.

Unfortunately, this move has intensified the ongoing feud between their respective fan bases which has now reached new lows following the publication of tweets which compared the African-American Beyonce to monkeys.

We are just days away from the long-awaited release of Christina Aguilera‘s new album, ‘Liberation’ (June 15).  As such, we are that much closer to seeing the diva’s promo schedule unlocked – an itinerary that’s already seen the likes of major morning and late night TV shows, magazine appearances, and radio slots confirmed.

Ahead of what’s set to be a promo onslaught during the week of release, Aguilera took to Zane Lowe for quite the intimate conversation on ‘Beats 1 on Apple Music.’  There, she dished on how motherhood has impacted her music, her thoughts on her children being exposed to clips from her ‘Dirrty’ phase, and how the creation of ‘Liberation’ channels that of the creation of ‘Dirrty’s parent album, ‘Stripped.’

Nashville, home of the National Museum of African American Music, played host yet again to the “Celebration of Legends Gala” recently – an event designed to honor the accomplishments of some of entertainment’s most enduring African American achievers.

Presenting each honoree with a special tribute performance and a Rhapsody & Rhythm Award, this year’s recipients included legendary producer/singer/songwriter Nile Rodgers, reality TV maven Mona Scott Young, legendary singer/songwriter Charlie Wilson, Grammy-winning blues musician Keb Mo, and Grammy-winning gospel songstress Yolanda Adams. In regard to the latter, fellow powerhouse vocalist Tamia was on hand to lend a stunning tribute.

Fifth Harmony played their final show (for now) this week and member Normani is wasting no time blazing the trail as she embarks on her solo career.

Over the last year, she’s made masterstroke after masterstroke – signing with a branch of Roc Nation for management, inking a huge deal with RCA Records, and teaming with Khalid for the still-growing hit ‘Love Lies.’

Now, the 21-year-old can add model to the mix. Because she’s just been added to the Wilhelmina roster.
