They may have gone ghost from Pop charts, but still the girl groups of yesterday have provided an irreplaceable soundtrack to most of our lives by ushering in decades of hits. The absence of such would unquestionably place a void on modern Pop music.  As emphasized by a previous precis, while charts lay devoid of a diva syndicate, the offerings of The Supremes, Destiny’s Child, and TLC are just a burning reminder of a time when girls really did run the world.

So, in an effort to pay homage and also remind future successors of the big stilettos they have to fill, That Grape Juice has compiled a list of the greatest girl groups to ever grace a stage.  And, in constant quest of the thoughts of you – TGJ faithful – we’ve once against requested your input on the matter.

Who’s the greatest girl group to ever it?  Was it the sass and class of DC3 or the harmony of En Vogue?  The classic style of The Supremes or the crazy, sexy, cool combo of TLC?

You decide after the jump…

Garnering a collective “aww” from onlookers,  ‘Superwoman’ Alicia Keys was joined by husband Swiss Beatz and son Egypt at the New York Knicks game this weekend.  Definitely keeping his eye on the ball, the 19-month-old didn’t seem too bothered by photographers as they snapped his photo.

Proud mom Keys looked on as the youngster stole the show.  See more below (via DailyMail):

The snaps surface as anticipation builds for what Keys is cooking up in the studio.  With a Bon Iver-collaboration ready for launch and the singer’s own material reportedly due in September, it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing much of the songstress in the coming months.  Until then, we’ll jam on the former hits anxiously awaiting the new new…

Like fellow R&B belter Mary J. Blige, British bred beauty Marsha Ambrosius was on hand yesterday to impart a rendition of the U.S. National Anthem.  While Blige got the race going at the Kentucky Derby, the ‘Far Away‘ singer was far away in Las Vegas opening last night’s highly anticipated Floyd Mayweather/Miguel Cotto fight.

While fans are still chatting about Mayweather’s undefeated streak, Ambrosius’s rendition of the historic number gained its fair share of chat as well.  Did Marsha move the crowd with a knockout take on the anthem?  Find out below:

May 25th marks the release of ‘Men In Black 3‘, the latest flick by Pop icon Will Smith.

Kicking off its promo run weeks ago, this week saw him take to Access Hollywood for a truly insightful chit chat. A chit chat, which saw him address the rumors surrounding his marriage, raising the Pop star that is Willow Smith and why ‘MIB 3′ is a must see.

The search for ‘The Voice UK’ is finally underway!

Tonight saw the second set of eliminations from the live shows.

Up on the chopping block, after polling lowest in the public vote, were Toni Warne and Ruth-Ann St. Luce (from Jessie J‘s “team”), while  Hannah Berney and Max Milner from Danny O’ Donoghue’s fold also ran risk of going home.

Tasked with sending one their “own” home, Jessie J sent Ruth-Ann a-packing, while Danny waved goodbye to Hannah.

She may tag herself ‘The Female Boss’, yet Tulisa owned all of nothing during her hotly anticipated performance on Britain’s Got Talent tonight.

The NDubz star turned X Factor judge served up a live showing of her #1 single ‘Young’; and yet instead of justifying her buzz, left many wondering why she sits judging others.

Renown for her “triple x factor”, it seems Tulisa‘s career has actually been boosted her now infamous “tape”.

For, her debut solo single ‘Young’ rocketed straight in at #1 on the Official UK Singles Chart today. Having amassed a string of top-ten’s with her former group NDubz, ‘Young’ also earns the honor of serving as the 23 year old’s first career chart-topper – both solo and as part of the London-bred collective.

Despite the shocking levels of “generic” the song is coated in, what isn’t a surprise is that it’s been a success. Much like the Cheryl Coles and other talent-strapped acts before her, Tulisa has morphed into a “tabloid celebrity” – a hat she wears readily and willfully.

And why not? After all, these days it’s easier for the “basic” to generate and capitalise on scandal as a means of promotion, instead of actually earning success. The end result, as seen here, are number ones. Congratulations?

Azealia Banks is barking back.

After coming under fire from Lil Kim‘s team for allegedly manufacturing their ‘feud’, Banks has responded via Twitter.

Peep her side of the story below…

Foxy Brown. EveRemy Ma. Nicki Minaj. Keys.

Yes, for whatever reason, Lil Kim has always struggled to get along with other Female Rappers.

In fact, barring Missy Elliott– who is responsible for putting the MC on the Pop classic ‘Lady Marmalade’- Kim has gotten into it with almost every Femcee she has been linked with.

So it didn’t surprise us when New York native Azealia Banks spoke out against her last week, hinting she had been disrespected by the Rap icon.

Now, Kim’s rep has slammed Lady GaGa‘s management company (who also manage Banks) over the matter, accusing them of manufacturing the feud for publicity.
