Mariah Carey - 'I Want To Know What Love Is' (Full Version)
Barely an hour has passed since we posted a 10 second snippet of Mariah Carey’s new single ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ and the full version of the track has surfaced.
The million dollar question is ‘after all the hype, does the track actually live up to it?’ Unfortunately for Ms. Carey-Cannon’s fans and lambs, it doesn’t. Important to highlight, firstly, is the fact (IMO) that Mariah’s take on the Foreigners classic is by no means a bad effort.
My main gripe with this is the vocal arrangement, for Mimi sounds ‘ok/just there/unremarkable’ until the big key change where she really hits a home run. Yet the vocal acrobatics are so short-lived and abruptly ended that you feel kinda cheated by the end. Generally though, this just isn’t striking me as the undeniable hit her camp and media friends have been hyping it to be. A shame as she really had to nail it with this one to restore the mass interest in her serially delayed LP ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’, something I’m doubtful she has/will achieve with this.
I’m not one to pit artists against one another, but IMO Whitney has this won hands-down.
Tidbit: I can’t wait to see Mariah nail this live, as usual 😉

Alexandra Burke - 'Bad Boys (ft. Flo' Rida) (1st Single)'
The much anticipated lead single from Alexandra Burke’s new album ‘Bad Boys’ premiered moments ago on Chris Moyles BBC Radio 1 Morning Show.
I’m really on the fence with this one; yes, it’s catchy as hell, but it’s markedly a lot more Pop-ier than I ever would have anticipated. While I’m sure her team’s goal was to appeal to the masses, this Phantom Boyz produced cut doesn’t have much Urban appeal at all, despite the somewhat contrived Flo’Rida feature. Not entirely bad, I just expected something completely different. Who knows, it could grow on me like Whitney’s ‘Million Dollar Bill’ – which I’m loving right now, yet didn’t on first, second or third listen LOL.

Whitney On Set Of New Video!
Yes, it’s Whitney info overload here at That Grape Juice! Anyways…(LOL)
Check out Ms. Houston on the set of the video for new single ‘Million Dollar Bill’, which is being shot as I type.
She looks great!
Tidbit: Like youself, I too am wondering why they are only just shooting the vid for this now!
Your thoughts?
Nearly everyone and their mother jumped on the Lil’ Wayne ‘A Milli’ bandwagon, each offering their own take on Wayne’s cut. R&B star Ne-Yo has gone a step further, though, and dropped this new video for his version – courtesy of producer Bangladesh. Check it out {Thanks Necole Bitchie!}:

Diddy: 'New Cassie Album Will Surprise' Though Cassie’s sophomore effort is still without an affirmative title or release date (an unconfirmed date in September), her label head Diddy spoke with Billboard about the project recently:

“That’s going to really, really catch people off guard,” he says. “There’s a huge [cry] out there for a younger Britney Spears, a younger Janet Jackson. Those two great artists have paved the way. She has a single out called ‘Official Girl’ and Danja produced it, and it is a smash.

Cassie released her self-titled debut in 2006, which went on to sell 321,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Single “Me & U” peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 3 on the Hot 100. It has also sold more than 1 million digital downloads.

Diddy says Cassie has grown significantly since the debut; at one point during the promo cycle for the album, the pair used viral video to apologize for her poor performance on a radio show.

“I just don’t think she was ready,” Diddy says. “I think that we threw her into the spotlight without the artist development — that goes on with a lot of new artists. We pulled out, we took our time, we developed her for like, a year-and-a-half. People are just going to see her there and be like, ‘Wow, she’s really cocooned into a butterfly.'”

Although the track list isn’t finalized, Cassie told Billboard earlier this year she’d worked with mentor Ryan Leslie, Seven, Mario Winans, Bryan Michael Cox, Eric Hudson, Sean C and LV on the project.

It’s pretty easy (and justified) to rubbish Diddy’s delusions of Cassie being the next Janet or Britney; after all, unlike her, both Janet and Britney compensate for their lack of vocal prowess by being all-round entertainers. However, I’ll reserve my judgement until more is heard from the album. I must say that the production credits are pretty impressive.

New music videos by R&B singer John Legend and UGK & Outkast debuted yesterday. Check them out:

John Legend – Stereo

‘Stereo’ was one of the only tracks I was feeling from John Legend’s lackluster 2nd LP ‘Once Again’ and it’s great to see that the video turned out decent. It has a distinctly alternative/unique vibe to it and serves as one of his better videos. I’m not sure if it’ll do anything to rekindle peoples interest in the album, which kinda came and went.

UGK – Int’l Players Anthem (ft. Outkast)

It’s been a while since Outkast have been in the limelight, so their appearance on this UGK track is welcomed. I’m really liking the song and video; the vid follows the concept of track closely and the resulting video is hilarious. Definitely one the better videos released this year. Stars including T-Pain, Chamillionaire and Big Gipp make cameo appearances.

What do you think of the videos?

Monica may have once declared her and Brandy‘s legendary hit ‘The Boy is Mine‘ was “too sacred” to remake, but chart-topping Pop star Ariana Grande‘s decision to take the “inspired by” route (instead of a direct duplication) apparently got both R&B divas’ stamp of approval as they not only appeared in the tune’s music video but later lent their talents to its official remix.

And though the ‘Eternal Sunshine‘ favorite had already cracked the Billboard Hot 100’s top 20 at the time of its parent album’s release (#16 peak), it was seemingly on its way off the chart before Bran and Mo worked their magic.

See their impact inside.

Having marked a personal milestone in April for GloRilla by delivering her highest first-week pure sales to date, ‘Wanna Be‘ – found aboard her latest mixtape ‘Ehhthang Ehhthang‘ – has undoubtedly earned a spot as a standout in the GRAMMY nominee’s growing discography.

Shining as her second highest-charting single on the Hot 100 yet (#11 peak), the Megan Thee Stallion-assisted tune is only bested by her Cardi B-assisted hit Tomorrow 2‘ (#9 peak).

What could possibly be better than having a hit song with Megan and Cardi respectively? Having a smash with both!

Tinashe is no stranger to seeing her music releases celebrated by fans and critics alike over the years, but – much to their dismay – the award-winning singer-songwriter hasn’t seen much of that fanfare reflected commercially since lifting her breakthrough single ‘2 On‘ to the Hot 100’s top 40 ten years ago.

In fact, before this week that Mustard-produced banger was her only appearance on the all-genre chart as a song leader.

The updated edition of the tally shows a long overdue change has come, however, as her latest viral hit ‘Nasty‘ has made its first appearance.
