After the success of its inaugural showing with soulstresses Kelly Price, Fantasia, Marsha Ambrosius,and more, BET readied round 2 of ‘Black Girls Rock’ – a showcase (of) and ode to today’s brightest African American women in various disciplines.  And with a bevy of big names joining this year’s line-up (including Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu), the star-studded affair may have even outdone its predecessor.

Though the Tracee Ellis Ross/Regina King – hosted event took place at Paradise Theater in NYC on October 15th, it aired tonight on BET.  See performances below:

 With the MTV EMA’s, BET’s ‘Black Girls Rock’, and Nickelodeon’s ‘Halo Awards’ all airing on the same day, it’s safe to say music lovers have been in for quite the treat.  And, though already blazing the MTV EMA stage in Belfast, performers Jason Derulo and Lady Gaga can also be spotted on the third annual TeenNick Halo Awards.  Queen of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige also guests the the Mr. Mariah Carey (known to some as Nick Cannon) hosted affair.

In what’s becoming an annual affair, the boys of JLS made a return to the X Factor stage tonight to plug their latest single ‘Take  A Chance On Me’.

The colourful quad are gearing up for the release their third studio album ‘Jukebox’ (due November 14th), which will no doubt also get a boost from the evening’s showing.
