By virtue of her talent and work ethic, Beyonce has ascended to the status of budding icon. However, anyone who is well-versed with her story will know how instrumental her father Mathew Knowles has been in her success narrative.
As such, it was little surprise at the ripples his infidelity and fathering of a child outside marriage caused back in 2009. Indeed, it was quite the blow to an otherwise wholesome image the singer and the Knowles’ clan had maintained for so long. A blow which reportedly led to his separation from wife Tina, and allegedly one of the reasons Beyonce formally severed management ties with him this year.
And, though the story had been quite high profile, it had dimmed over the last year, in the absence of any shots of mistress Alexandria Wright, baby Nixon, and Mathew’s retirement from the public eye.
Oh how that changed today, when a woman claiming to be Wright -armed with the alleged baby Nixon- sold her story to US tabloid Star.
While her story centred on rumours we won’t even dignify by repeating, her emergence after so long does make for compelling stuff – should she in fact be Wright and the handsome youngster indeed be baby Nixon.
For what it’s worth, she claims Mathew does not see the child, however does pay child support. Drama.
As one many of the performers who cite Michael Jackson as inspiration, last night must have been a very special evening for Chris Brown.
For, Paris Jackson, Michael’s only daughter, showed up at the concert to show her support for the young entertainer in Los Angeles and then spent time with Brown backstage soon after the show ended.
Seemingly a fan of the ‘She Ain’t You‘ maestro’s work, her appearance at the performance comes just days after her aunt LaToya spoke to That Grape Juice about her brother’s fame and legacy.

With hopes of placing those heels back atop a once promenaded pop plateau, R&B veteran Brandy has had fans buzzing with promises of new music in the new year. And, while faithful followers of the ‘Full Moon’ maestra are keeping up with her on the acting front (see: 90210, Drop Dead Diva), she has been hard at work crafting a ‘futuristic R&B album’ with R&B bad boy Chris Brown, Rico Love, Bangladesh, and Frank Ocean all signing on for writing/producing credits.
However, the recent unveiling of ‘The Pen’ Sean Garrett‘s enlistment on the production panel will assuredly have tongues wagging as he is responsible for some of the genre’s biggest hits over the past decade (Beyonce, Usher, Ciara).
In an impromptu behind-the-scenes studio session broadcast via UStream, Garrett gave fans a peek into what he and B-Rocka had been up to. The clip even lends a brief (and we do mean brief) snippet from what is expected to be the songstress’s first single from the upcoming album. See this and more after the jump:

As emo rap posterchild Drake has seen his name in ‘Headlines‘ more for Rihanna romance than rapping lately, the question appeared to become ‘who are they’ and ‘what do they know?’ The lead single from the rapper’s forthcoming ‘Take Care’ album, originally due October 24th, was slipping down charts even after its accompanying visual debuted. However, an SNL appearance (and more promo to come) slowly but surely seems to be turning the tide for the Torontoian.
Perhaps to speed up the process, the Young Money emcee has begun releasing promo videos to build buzz and take care of the slack. The parent album, now set for a November 15 release, will host features from heavyweights like Rick Ross, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Nicki Minaj, and even R&B legend Stevie Wonder.
