In what seems to be a rare moment of wisdom and clarity, Lil Kim has decided against working with Mary J. Blige on a diss track targeting Nicki Minaj and Keyshia Cole. Despite announcing the possibility of the project on New Year’s Eve, the former Queen of Hip-Hop has issued a press release denying that she will be making such a record.

Pint-sized rapper Lil’ Kim continues to seize any opportunity available to slam rival Nicki Minaj – this despite the Young Money star still not offering any response to the veteran’s diss record ‘Black Friday’.

The latest episode in Kim’s trajectory of anti-Minaj slurs came on New Years Eve, when she performed in Boston, Massachusetts. While on stage, the 35 year old once again hit out at Minaj, yet on this occasion also alluded to both her and Mary J Blige having issues with Keyshia Cole too.

There is no better way to kick off 2011’s From The Vault series than with a song from Brandy. Coincidentally, ‘What About Us?’ was released as the 1st single from the R&B singer’s ‘Full Moon’ LP on January 1st 2002 – New Year’s day.

The track, which was co-written by Brandy herself and produced by her longtime collaborator Rodney Jerkins, peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at #3 on the  Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. ‘What About Us?’ performed even better in the UK, climbing to #4 on the Official UK Singles Chart.

At the time of its release, this video was one of the best of Brandy’s career. Edgy and artistic, the visual distanced the singer from the relatively safe and innocent appeal of her earlier projects, demonstrating an artist who was ready to take the next step in her career.

The entire ‘Full Moon’ album illustrated Brandy’s continued growth as a vocalist as she continued to explore the full extent of her brilliant contralto. Hopefully, she can once again make music like this because if she wants to return to prominence in 2011 she has to deliver nothing but the best.

As earlier reported, socialite Kim Kardashian is venturing into the world of Pop – with the help of hitmaker The Dream. While details pertaining to the project’s lead single remain scarce, indications suggesting that’s all about to change are plentiful.

Indeed, Kardashain premièred the song at TAO Las Vegas last night while celebrating the New Year festivities – a video of which you can check out shortly.

On the topic of videos, the budding singer recently shot the song’s accompanying visual in Los Angeles. The clip was jointly directed by Hype Williams and Kanye West. Peep the TAO song premiere and more pics from the video set below…
