After a brief hiatus from the spotlight, R&B star Ciara is set to launch another assault on the charts with new single ‘Ride’. Confirmed to be the first official release from the singer’s as yet untitled fourth studio LP, it’s also been revealed that long-time collaborator Ludacris will feature on the record.

What’s more, it appears the 24 year old’s spell of silence wasn’t spent being idle; the album – which has been in production since summer last year -is as good as completed, with the video for ‘Ride’ set to be shot in the next few days. Yes…days! Fans can expect to hear the Tricky Stewart/ The-Dream produced song anytime within the next few weeks.

Exciting stuff! As one of those who feel Ms. Harris got the short end of the stick with her ‘Fantasy Ride’ project, I’m particularly eager to see her succeed this go round – granted the material is up-to-par. Sources close to the project allude to Ciara taking it back to her grittier days, which I’m pretty indifferent about, considering I’ve enjoyed both her earlier and more recent (Pop-oriented) offerings. Fingers crossed she comes out swinging!

In a somewhat unbelievable turn of events, Usher has revealed that his recent song ‘Papers’ was actually written before the end of his marriage. The R&B singer shared the information about the buzz single for his new album, ‘Raymond vs Raymond’, in an interview with MTV News earlier today. ‘Papers’, which peaked at #31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Hip-Hop/R&B chart, seemed to be taking jabs at his now ex-wife, Tameka Foster, and quickly gained radio play for its controversial lyrics. Jill Scott looks ravishing on the cover of ‘Essence’ magazine’s May issue.  The Neo-Soul diva stars alongside Janet Jackson in Tyler Perry’s new film, ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’ and will be embarking on a 20-city tour alongside Maxwell commencing May 21st.  Scott’s new album,‘The Light of The Sing: Words and Sounds Vol. 4’, hits stores later this year.

Rising Hip-Hop star Drake has finally scheduled a release date for his debut album. The collection, entitled ‘Thank Me Later’, will hit stores on May 25th. The project’s lead single, ‘Over’, has already positioned itself at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 without the assistance of a music video. Usher made a guest appearance on the ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ today. The R&B superstar was interviewed by Robin Roberts and discussed his divorce from Tameka Foster, Justin Bieber and the death of his mentor, Michael Jackson. Usher also revealed why he no longer employs his mother as his manager.

It was a busy weekend for Pop star Kelly Rowland. The Destiny’s Child alumni gave the live first performance of brand new single ‘Commander’ at Mansions in Miami on Saturday. Next on the Grammy winner’s agenda was the launch of her new charity ‘I Heart My Girlfriends’ at Miami Beach yesterday (March 28th). Rowland’s celebrity pals Serena Williams, LaLa Vasquez, and Kim Kardashian came out to support the singer.

Check out our girl Kelly Rowland at Mansions in Miami last night, for the ‘F*ck Me, I’m Famous event’ (which formed part of the Winter Music Conference). The singer was snapped backstage, in this daring ensemble, prior to debuting her brand new single ‘Commander’ live on stage.

While footage of the performance, which by all accounts was hot fire, should become available soon, Kelly shared a few tidbits with fans in an exclusive Ustream video chat just before she rocked the stage. Included were the fact that noted choreographer Fatima Robinson (Aaliyah, Black Eyed Peas) is her new choreographer and that it was Robinson who conjured up the (quote-on-quote) ‘sick’ routine for ‘Commander’. What’s more, select directors have been sent the song to come up with the videos concept, and perhaps most randomly, it took Rowland 30 minutes to don the pictured outfit!
