Check out this behind the scenes look at Janet Jackson‘s ‘Make Me‘ video. Simple, clean and killer choreography…I’m liking what I see.
Randomness: I’ve just come back from the Rihanna London show. My head hurts…haven’t ascertained whether it was her or the fact I haven’t eaten anything (literally) all day. Ignore my tired babble…
Belly dancing beauty Shakira has just dropped the full version of the video for her new song ‘Give It Up To Me’. The track was produced by Timbaland, who also co-wrote the track along with Dwayne Carter, and features the ever-present Lil Wayne. Shakira’s new album, ‘She Wolf’, will be released in the US on November 23rd.
The video is by no means as thrilling as her other recent releases (see She Wolf) but it serves its purpose. I appreciate the fact that Shakira is experimenting with new sounds and concepts on this album, as well as more intricate choreography instead of remaining in her comfort zone (although I have no problem with her mesmerising hip shaking). All the more power to her for being creative with her artistry.
Sidebar: I am eager to hear the Illuminati theorists perspectives on the symbolism of her multi-handed Statue of Liberty. Bring on the crazies…
As the world (well figuratively speaking) awaits the video for Beyonce and Lady GaGa‘s clip for ‘Video Phone’, a brief preview has surfaced. Looks like some $$$ was put down on this one. Liking what I see, yet will reserve full judgement until seeing the video in its entirety.
Yet another clip has surfaced from Beyonce’s ‘I Am…Yours: An Intimate Performance at Wynn Las Vegas’ tour DVD. Filmed at the Encore Theatre in Las Vegas, the project will be released on November 23rd and footage from the event will air on ABC on November 26th.
As usual, Beyonce killed it! She truly has an understanding of her gift and demonstrates what a dynamic performer is all about. I will be first in line if she ever comes to Trinidad and Tobago!
Sidebar: Sam went to her recent performance at the o2 Arena in London this weekend and got the coveted ‘Say My Name’ moment. Aren’t we all just happy for him…?
R&B star Chris Brown kicked off his ‘Fan Appreciation Tour’ in a sold-out venue at the House of Blues in Houston, Texas on Saturday. Included in the set list was the very first live performance of the 2nd single from his upcoming album, ‘Graffiti’. The song, entitled ‘Crawl’, has already managed to debut at #99 on the Hip-Hop R&B charts after only 3 days of official release. The video for the track can be seen here.
Great performance. It looks like Rihanna isn’t the only one who has been taking vocal classes recently. I applaud him for singing this live given the high energy, dance-infused nature of his show. Keep it up Chris.
Icon Mariah Carey was featured in a special episode of ‘T4’ in the UK. The programme highlighted several aspects of her promotional tour over the last few months. The diva also discussed her new album, ‘Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel’, and her role in the film ‘Precious: Based on the novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire’.
All in all a very interesting watch for anyone who wants to see the kind of effort needed to plug an album, fragrance and movie all at the same time. You have to admire Mariah’s work ethic because she operates like a 25 year old and has yet to show any sign of slowing down. Good stuff.
A few weeks ago ThatGrapeJuice was the first to show you an exclusive pic from singer Michelle Williams’ ‘Alter Ego’ photoshoot. Now we have the pleasure of presenting the entire production which was crafted by famed photographer Derek Blanks. Fierce!
The ever sexy Ciara hit the red carpet at the 30th Anniversary of The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles recently. She looks fantastic! The old saying is that you can’t have both beauty and brains. Well in the music industry, it’s more about having beauty and talent, and Ciara is one of the few who have both.
This week’s classic From The Vault video is the Dreamgirls (movie adaptation) cast’s electrifying performance at the 2007 Academy Awards (Oscars). Capping off a hugely successful run for the movie, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Anika Noni Rose and Keith Robinson lit up the stage with a rousing medley from the film, which included ‘Love You I Do’, ‘Listen’ and ‘Patience’. Check out their performance above.
Watching this back really reminded me why I had this on replay at the time. They blew the roof off that arena! Particularly great to swatch was the inter-weaving of each of their songs, more specifically seeing Beyonce take on ‘Love You I Do’ and Jennifer deliver ‘Listen’. Anika and Keith did the damn thing on ‘Patience’ too, with Anika really (and finally) getting her shine with her vocal-runs at the end. Great performance!
The Black Eyed Peas took over Saturday Night Live a few hours ago to perform some of their biggest hits – all of which are interestingly from their latest LP ‘The E.N.D’. While their newest material hasn’t stirred me in the way their previous hits have (‘Boom Boom Pow’ aside), I’m really happy for the success they’re having now, it’s very much deserved.
To celebrate the release of Janet Jackson‘s career-spanning ‘Number Ones’ compilation (due November 17th), Flash Mob America organised a Janet Jackson flash mob to take place today in Los Angeles. For those unaware of what a ‘flash mob’ is, it’s generally when a group of people break into uniform dance in the random-est of places and usually in front of unsuspecting passers by.
The participants in la Jan’s flash mob, who have been practising for weeks, launched into some of the iconic choreography from some of Janet’s biggest hits including ‘If’ and ‘Nasty’ right therein the middle of the street at The Grove. Kudos to all those involved; they killed it.
A bigger kudos, however, goes to Janet’s team, who have been on fire with her promotion as of late. They’re on some Papa Knowles ish (for Bouncy alone, of course!!! LOL). Loving it 🙂
Tidbit: Janet herself was watching this from the rafters. Click here to see
