With ‘Exclusive’ having hit stores last week, R&B star Chris Brown is hitting the promotional trail in support of the CD. The 18 year old star stopped by BET’s 106 & Park earlier last week for an interview and to perform current single ‘Kiss Kiss’ along with T-Pain. You can check out their performance below:

I’m thought the performance was pretty solid, the 106 crowd were hyped (as It’s great to have seen Chris step his live performance game up compared to soem of performances in the past – he seems to be focusing on getting his vocals on-point instead of dancing like he’s having a seizure lol. Good stuff.

What do you think of the interview / performance?
Apologies for the lack of updates over the weekend, other commitments and whatnot. Anyway, things should be getting back to normal as from now. Bare with me as I play catch up…
The Mario interview will be up before this week is out.

Another day, another Beyonce endorsement; the R&B superstar’s latest foray into the advertising market is for cable company DirecTV. Don’t get me wrong, I like her just as much as the next person, but this is bordering on overkill. What’s next? I mean, she’s already had her name slapped on almost everything saleable. I must say that the whole play on the ‘Upgrade U’ concept was pretty good, though.

Beyonce & Ads: Overkill or not?

Check out this new promotional pic for Mary J. Blige’s forthcoming album ‘Growing Pains’. She’s been looking consistently on-point as of late. Anyway, contrary to the date in the pic, the album is now set too drop on December 18th.

As soulful songstress Tweet preps the release of her third studio album ‘Love, Tweet’ (her first for new label Umbrella Recordings), a 9-track sampler of the CD has surfaced. Having listened through it, the album sounds like it’s going to be solid – very vintage Tweet. ‘Love, Tweet’ is set to hit stores early 2008.

Check out this remix of Alicia Key’s smash hit ‘No One’ featuring Kanye West; the track surfaced yesterday on the rapper’s official blog. Though it doesn’t sound like Alicia re-recorded her vocals, the track is still worth a listen for Kanye’s verse (aside from his faux singing at the start).

R&B songstress Alicia Keys performed her new single ‘Like You’ll Never See Me Again’ recently for Power 105.1. Great stuff. Alicia’s third studio album ‘As I Am’ drops next week (November 13th), and in light of the success of ‘No One’ and the buzz of this single, she’s set to debut with big numbers.

The second single to be lifted from J.Holiday’s debut album ‘Back of My Lac’ premiered today on BET’s 106 & Park countdown. In my opinion, the video couldn’t have come at a better time – I was beginning to get tired of ‘Bed’. Anyway, I’m really liking both the single and the vid. J’s debut, for me, is one of this year’s better music offerings.

What do you think of the song/video?

With Amerie set to release ‘Crush’ as the third single from her ‘Because I Love It’ album, new information on the release has surfaced. Those familiar with the album version of the track, will notice that it’s not the same version used for the video.
This (new) version of the track is indeed the original version of the song. Produced by Johnny Douglas, clearance/legal issues prevented its placement on the album, however it’s set to be used for the video. I’ve long been a fan of the song and like this version just as much as the first.

Despite Mya’s serially delayed (and now shelved) ‘Liberation’ album having not been released, the singer is already hard at work at the follow-up. Check out this report via MyaHarrison.net:

R&B singer Mya is hard work on her 6th album, with two out of those being scratched and shelved due to label conflicts, but she has not given up! She is hard at work on her new album tentatively titled Smoke & Mirrors which should be out 1st or 2nd quarter of 2008! Mya stated in a recent interview I did with her, “I feel as though Liberation was my best project to date, of course I wanted it released in the US, but things happen, so maybe it wasnt meant to be”. She also stated that she would be working with better producers on this album such as Timbaland, The Dream, The Underdogs, Scott Storch, Dre & Vidal, and Brian Michael Cox again. She also said she has been working on the album since Liberation was completed at the of 2005, and that its more fresh, up to date, and different. She also said that since Liberation won’t be released in the US, that she will be using 2 or 3 of the best songs from that album for this new one, but the album will still have all new material, because she is sure her fans have heard Liberation now being that it was released in Japan and probably made its way back to the US.

How true this is remains to be seen, however I applaud her hustle factor if it is. Will the album drop on her current label, though? Hopefully it won’t be this ‘Liberation’ mess all over again.

After weeks of speculation, Rihanna has admitted to being in a relationship with Hollywood actor Josh Hartnett. The 19 year old singer, who is 10 years younger than Hartnett, had the following to say:

“I’ve fallen for him (Hartnett) big time. I would be lying if I (said) we were not more than just friends.

“He is so hot and he is really sweet to me. When we hang out it feels right – even though it’s still pretty new.”

Is it just me or does this scream ‘publicity stunt’? It just doesn’t sound genuine. A last ditch attempt to spark interest in her under-performing album, maybe?

The video for Jay-Z’s new single ‘Roc Boys’, the second to be lifted from his ‘American Gangster’ album, premiered recently. Directed by Chris Robinson, the video is a star-studded affair, with cameos made by, among others, Diddy, Mariah Carey, Nas, Swizz Beatz and Cassie. As much as I had my doubts, I can’t deny that Jay really brought his ‘A-Game’ with this project; the song/video, as well as the whole album are on-point.

What do you think of the video?
