With moviegoers and Academy voters, ‘Wicked‘ is popular indeed.
Defying gravity with a whopping 10 nominations (including Best Picture) at this year’s ceremony, the Jon M. Chu-nominated film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical is going into the 2025 Academy Awards as the most-nominated film.
What’s more, leading co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress OSCARs respectively – a feat that comes as a career-first for the GRAMMY-winning latter diva.
After promising to “raise hell” if Grande didn’t get nominated, Erivo (now a three-time nominee) rightfully praised the Pop songstress for her induction into the nominees’ club.
After revving three back-to-back top 40 hits on the Hot 100 across 2023-24 (‘Greedy,’ ‘Exes,’ and ‘It’s Ok I’m Ok’), Tate McRae missed the mark with her last single ‘2 Hands‘ which couldn’t quite get a grip on the chart region as it peaked at #41.
To make up for the single’s nonperformance, McRae – gearing up to launch her next album ‘So Close to What‘ – is giving fans another taste of what the LP is set to serve via its new single ‘Sports Car.’
“I think you know what this is / I think you wanna, uh / No, you ain’t got no Mrs. / Oh, but you got a sports car / We can uh-uh in it / While you drive it real far,” she sings on the Ryan Tedder-produced cut.
Accompanying the tune’s Friday (January 24) arrival with an abstract performance music video, hop inside to get acquainted with ‘Sports Car.’
Travis Scott‘s ‘4×4‘ may easily be the week’s most highly anticipated release, especially after teasing the cut aboard WWE’s ‘Raw’ and even debuting it via a life performance atop Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium at Monday’s College Football Playoffs (January 20).
Produced by Tay Keith, the bass-buoyed new cut will act as a charity single to support communities coping with the devastating effects of the Los Angeles County wildfires.
“Four-by-four, I tint my windows up, yeah (Windows up) / Damn, my bro, he did it, one-and-done (One-and–, one-and-done), yeah / Out my closet, that shit none-of-none (None-of-none), yeah / That’s a vibe, that’s a one-of-one (Vibe), yeah,” he rapped.

Before storming stages across America on the ‘Too Much to Say Tour,’ award-winning songstress JoJo is previewing some of the new tunes fans should be expecting to see live by unveiling the new EP ‘NGL.’
Arrived to digital shelves on Friday (January 24), the 8-song effort was delivered courtesy of the diva’s own imprint Clover Music.
Loaded with her latest singles ‘Porcelain‘ and ‘Too Much to Say,‘ ‘NGL’ comes as her first musical project since 2021’s ‘Trying Not to Think About It.’

Bruno Mars may be sitting inside the Hot 100’s top 10 with the Lady Gaga-enlisted ‘Die with a Smile‘ (the year’s first new #1 hit) and the ROSE-led ‘APT.‘, but he seems poised to repeat the feat by tapping another female hitmaker to assist: Sexyy Red.
Sending their respective fan bases into a frenzy with the surprise announcement earlier this week, the unlikely duo followed later to confirm the cut would be arriving on Friday (January 24).
Titled ‘Fat, Juicy, and Wet,’ the suggestive song is branded by its performers as the “strip club anthem of the year.”
Tapping Gaga and ROSE to make cameos in its music video, hop inside to hear ‘Wet’ in full.
Bruno Mars and Sexyy Red have made it official.
For, after a brief tease, the unlikely pair have announced their brand new single and revealed details in the process.

Chris Brown may have set the net on fire when he dropped a whopping $500 million lawsuit against Warner Bros. Discovery on Tuesday (January 21) for a documentary that he alleges paints him as a serial sexual abuser, but the GRAMMY winner is already looking to move past the drama and get back to business.
The world will have their eyes glued to TV screens on Thursday morning (January 23) as the 97th annual Academy Awards announces their highly anticipated list of nominees.
And while big films like ‘A Complete Unknown,’ ‘Nickel Boys,’ ‘The Brutalist,’ ‘The Last Showgirl,’ and ‘Babygirl’ are expected to lead the charge for Best Picture, movie lovers are undoubtedly looking to see a similar response for the 2024 blockbuster ‘Wicked‘ starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
Among those expecting some serious recognition for the history-making musical is star Erivo herself who recently took to press to reveal she’s set to cause a commotion if her leading co-star doesn’t get her due.
