A new song by Chilli, formerly of R&B girl group TLC, has hit the net called Straight Jack. She’s now signed to rapper Akons own label – Konvict Music; he promised her album will surprise alot of people. If this is any indication of what is to come then she should just go back to the studio. I’m not liking this one at all. Missy Elliott’s feature does nothing for the track either; I can’t stand that bogus Jamaican accent she puts on.

Anyway I’ll let you be the judge….

Cool interview. She seems more relaxed in her interviews nowadays.

Speculation is mounting that Beyonce and Jay Z have split (ain’t we heard that one before?). This time may be for real though. They have not been seen together for some time now and Jay’s increasingly suspect lyrics (i.e. Lost Ones) may prove that they are done.

Dunno if this is true but if it is then oh well. Both their profiles were raised off the back of the other so its all good.

New Mariah Album Update

According to MCODB, a fan who attended the Pinko party last night spoke with one of Mariah’s people – Mark Sudack (a member of her management team) and was able get to the following regarding her new album:

– They have a title, and its certainly not Illusions: The Butterfly Within (the rumoured title).

– The album is NOT in a complete or near complete state. Mariah will be putting her full focus on it immediately after completion of the filming of the Tennessee movie.

– They do have an album title.

– If there are two albums this year (as Def Jam claimed), one will be the mainstream studio album and the second will be a Christmas one.

– The album will be released last quarter. Nothing until after September.

Diana May Perform At Oscars…

Veteran singer Diana Ross was reportedly shocked when she was invited by Oscar representatives to sing one of the nominated songs from the musical ‘Dreamgirls’, at the Oscar ceremony.

The legend has earlier admitted that she hasn’t watched the film, which is based on her rise to fame with ‘The Supremes’, and that she would watch it with her lawyer.

“I haven’t seen it – maybe I should see it with my lawyer,” she has been quoted as saying. LOL

However, Ms Ross is yet to respond to the invitation to sing at the event, scheduled on February 25. It would’nt surprise me if she did, her latest album ‘I Love You’ flopped hard upon release last month, so she needs the promo.

Hudson, Holiday and now potentially Diana. The Oscars should be good.

Mariah was in my hometown (London) yesterday for a press conference where it was announced that she will be the new face of Italian fashion house Pinko. It was kind of a big deal, I saw her on the news.

BREAKING: Rapper Foxy Brown Jailed

Rapper Foxy Brown has been jailed on Battery charges. I swear this chick has gone crazy.

The Broward County lockup has a celebrity occupant this morning.Rapper Foxy Brown was arrested in a Pembroke Pines beauty supply store last night afterpolice say she caused a disturbance there.The charges: battery and obstruction
of justice.
Brown, 27, whose real name is Inga Marchand, is known for her in-your-face style and explicit lyrics. She made headlines in 1999 when her sophomore album, Chyna Doll, became the first album by a female rapper to debut atop the Billboard charts.
In December 2005, Brown’s lawyer announced the rap artist was almost completely deaf. She was undergoing treatment for the condition.Brown was previously sentenced to three years probation and anger management classes for attacking a pair of manicurists in New York City.
She was being held this morning in the county’s North Jail in Pompano Beach. Bond was set at $1,500, records show.

King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has resurfaced on a new track called No Friend of Mine (Gangsta). The track, which also features Pras (of the Fugees), was produced by a producer/DJ called Tempamental. MJ sings the hook and has a verse on the track aswell; the harmonies are serious.

I’ve had the song for a while and like many, I was kinda sceptical about the track (Michael Jackson on a track called Gangsta=wtf??!!), but I am loving the song. It seems as though I ain’t the only one; No Friend of Mine has been in rotation on some of London’s biggest radio stations – Choice Fm and 1Xtra. It’s been getting alot of love on Tempamentals Myspace Page
