For SZA fans, a five-year wait for a new album came to a close Friday (December 9) when the R&B diva finally dropped ‘SOS‘ – the follow-up to her 2017 debut album ‘Ctrl.’

Preceded by hit singles ‘Shirt,’ ‘I Hate U,’ and ‘Good Days,’ “good” comes a severe understatement when describing the critical and commercial acclaim the set’s already received.

And while ‘SOS’ has shown itself to be a monster on real-time sales tallies around the globe (as we reported here), it appears to be even more of one on streaming platforms.

Over the last 30 years Terrence Howard has been a Black Hollywood staple.

Bringing unforgettable characters like Quentin Spivey (‘The Best Man‘), Cameron Thayer (‘Crash‘), Djay (‘Hustle & Flow‘), James Rhodes (‘Iron Man‘), Lucious Lyon (‘Empire‘), and many others to life over his three-decade tenure, the veteran actor has not only collected top industry honors for his work but has even garnered Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations along the way.

That impressive, yet lengthy resume was the reason Howard announced his retirement in 2019 during the last season of ‘Empire.’

And though he didn’t keep his word at that time, three years later he’s revisited the statement and assured longtime fans he’s for real this time.

Doja Cat certainly turned heads with her shaved head on the front (and inside the pages) of the latest ‘DAZED‘ magazine.

As we reported here, the femcee acted as the covergirl for its Winter 2022 ‘Beautiful’ issue and used its feature story to open up about redefining beauty standards, defining her racial identity, identifying the sounds set to board her new album (the follow-up to 2021’s GRAMMY-nominated ‘Planet HER‘), and so much more.

But if the quotes that line the appearance weren’t enough to get people talking, a behind the scenes look at the eccentric looks that accompanied them certainly will.

The critical acclaim that’s come flooding in for SZA‘s long-awaited sophomore album, ‘SOS,’ seems set to be outpaced only by the gargantuan commercial response it’s been afforded.

Preceded to Billboard 200 battle by its housed Hot 100 top 20 hits ‘Shirt‘ (#11 peak), ‘I Hate U‘ (#7 peak), and ‘Good Days‘ (#9 peak), anticipation for the project saw it soar to the top of pre-order lists on many major digital retailers ahead of its official unveiling.

Just a day after being released on December 9, the 23-track effort zoomed to the top of Apple Music tallies in over 50 countries while also dominating real-time iTunes sales charts in nearly a dozen (as we reported here).

Its performance on those outlets, in conjunction with a record-breaking run on Spotify, sees the LP poised to enter the Billboard 200 with the GRAMMY winner’s biggest first-week numbers yet.
