The latest instalment of the hit franchise appears to serve up the same brand of drama and theatrics that have made its New York and Atlanta cousins such compelling viewing. What’s more, it’s doing so with a cast that are markedly more known. For the likes of  Ray J, Teairra Mari, and B2K‘s Lil Fizz and Omarion all feature. Actresses Tika Sumpter is just one of many actors of African descent to have their names thrown into a sensitive debate whipped up by fans of movie studio ‘Marvel’, who have accused them of ignoring their calls to have an African American star lead in one of their pictures.

Coming following a petition was launched urging the company to consider ‘12 Years a Slave’ actress Lupita Nyong’o when next casting for the role of X-Men‘s storms, its fans have now seen seen their demands weighed in on by its president Kevin Feige.

Last month, Jazmine Sullivan partnered with NPR to premiere her brand new number ‘Stupid Girls’, doing so during her time in New Orleans for this year’s Essence Festival.

Performed in a barber shop that’s been in business since 1948, the song follows the unveiling of her comeback single ‘Dumb’, both pulled her third studio album ‘Reality Show’, due out on September 30th.

As the fourth quarter looms, so too does the release of many a major album.

Lil Wayne‘s LP ‘Tha Carta 5’ easily sits in such category, with the rapper’s fans eagerly anticipating every morsel of info released about the set.

Today saw excitement cranked into overdrive with the Young Money/Cash Money star unwraps the set’s cover and announced when it’ll be hitting stores.

Interestingly, the set’s artwork – which, like previous projects, features a retro snap of the star – was revealed during Weezy’s interview on ESPN’s Sports Center.

Speaking on the specifics of the cover (which depicts him as a youngster with his mother Cita), he said:

“I’m sorry moms. I know personally that she don’t really like that picture of herself ’cause she’s not looking in the camera.

(However) it’s perfect. I always go with a baby picture and I wanted to go with one with my mom on it this time,” he explained. “This album means a lot to me. People been waiting on this album and I’m just at the point in my life and stuff to have my mom on there. It’s more than an accomplishment, it’s an achievement.”
