Contemporary gospel duo Mary Mary have seen many titles precede their names. From ‘Grammy winning’ to ‘best-selling’ and even ‘ground breaking’, the Californian sister act have seen their musical wings span across multiple genres in the music industry.  A feat which has won the two-some about as much acclaim as it has criticism.

Nevertheless, the sisters – Erica and Tina – press on to enlarge their territory.  Most recently nabbing their own reality show on WeTV (aptly titled ‘Mary Mary’), fans get to a side of the ‘Shackles’ singers like never before.

Recently dishing on the hit series with our friends over at That Grape Juice TV, the soulful siblings chat about everything from the inspiration of the show, criticism from the haters, and even their thoughts on transitioning to R&B!

Congratulations are in order!  We certainly look forward to hearing what this voice will be cooking up in the studio!

There really seems to be no stopping tour de force Luke James.

The budding Def Jam star, who we can EXCLUSIVELY reveal has signed on as the face of Diddy’s Sean John, already counts the likes of Beyonce and Kelly Rowland as fans. And having brought the First Lady, Mrs Obama, to her feet at the 2012 BET Honors, the powerhouse served up another emotionally-charged performance of current single ‘I Want You’ on VH1’s Morning Buzz recently.

For all the parallells to The Surpremes, the story of Destiny’s Child seems to boast a “happy ending”.

Case, point, these snaps of former members LeToya Luckett, LaTavia Roberson, and Michelle Williams from last night.

As many will remember, Luckett and Roberson served as original members of the iconic group until a management spat saw them forcibly removed in 2000. Williams and short-term member Farrah Franklin would go on to become their replacements – controversially making their debut in the ‘Say My Name’ video.

However, accompanied by Cosby Show actress Keisha Knight-Pullium, the trio were all smiles as they caught up – and in LaTavia and Michelle’s case, met for the first time.

Taking to Twitter, LaTavia wrote:

1 of the most amazing nights ever! Love @RealMichelleW

Tonight was amazing! Me, @LeToyaLuckett,@RealMichelleW, & @peachespulliam!!!

Peep more DC love after the jump…

Last night, The Voice UK said goodbye to Ruth Ann St Luce, the 18 year old act hoping to win the £100,000 contract with Universal Republic.

Mentored by ‘Do It Like A Dude’ belle Jessie J, Ruth’s time on the show came to an end following a shaky performance on Saturday night, picked up by all four of the show’s coaches.

Now, according to The Daily Mail, she has blamed the show’s editing for her departure.

They may have gone ghost from Pop charts, but still the girl groups of yesterday have provided an irreplaceable soundtrack to most of our lives by ushering in decades of hits. The absence of such would unquestionably place a void on modern Pop music.  As emphasized by a previous precis, while charts lay devoid of a diva syndicate, the offerings of The Supremes, Destiny’s Child, and TLC are just a burning reminder of a time when girls really did run the world.

So, in an effort to pay homage and also remind future successors of the big stilettos they have to fill, That Grape Juice has compiled a list of the greatest girl groups to ever grace a stage.  And, in constant quest of the thoughts of you – TGJ faithful – we’ve once against requested your input on the matter.

Who’s the greatest girl group to ever it?  Was it the sass and class of DC3 or the harmony of En Vogue?  The classic style of The Supremes or the crazy, sexy, cool combo of TLC?

Like fellow R&B belter Mary J. Blige, British bred beauty Marsha Ambrosius was on hand yesterday to impart a rendition of the U.S. National Anthem.  While Blige got the race going at the Kentucky Derby, the ‘Far Away‘ singer was far away in Las Vegas opening last night’s highly anticipated Floyd Mayweather/Miguel Cotto fight.

While fans are still chatting about Mayweather’s undefeated streak, Ambrosius’s rendition of the historic number gained its fair share of chat as well.  Did Marsha move the crowd with a knockout take on the anthem?  Find out below:

Foxy Brown. EveRemy Ma. Nicki Minaj. Keys.

Yes, for whatever reason, Lil Kim has always struggled to get along with other Female Rappers.

In fact, barring Missy Elliott– who is responsible for putting the MC on the Pop classic ‘Lady Marmalade’- Kim has gotten into it with almost every Femcee she has been linked with.

So it didn’t surprise us when New York native Azealia Banks spoke out against her last week, hinting she had been disrespected by the Rap icon.

Now, Kim’s rep has slammed Lady GaGa‘s management company (who also manage Banks) over the matter, accusing them of manufacturing the feud for publicity.

With the world at large drooling over the The Wanted and One Direction, it is safe to say that boybands are back in style.

Indeed, more than 10 years have passed since the last “boom” courtesy of the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC – who dominated charts globally. One of the latter’s last ever singles, ‘Girlfriend’, is this week’s From The Vault pick.

The track served as the final single from their blockbuster curtain-call ‘Celebrity’ and was a Top 5 hit in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia. Originally produced by multi-talented Wade Robson, the video mix for ‘Girlfriend’ featured rapper Nelly and was helmed by the mighty dynamo duo The Neptunes – who would go on to produce the bulk of Timberlake’s debut.

This more Urban, edgier sound was a departure for the boys, who before that were serving up cheese-flavoured bubble-gum in abundance (not to take away from the classic statuses of ‘Bye, Bye’, and ‘It’s Gonna Be Me’). The tune was also a hit with critics (as was its parent album), and is considered a fan favourite.

Its drag race-themed visual echoed the edgy; and is clearly a visual Team Bieber had on loop before shooting the youngster’s latest vid, ironically titled ‘Boyfriend’. The ressemblance is uncanny.

*****

We can’t say we are eager for a NSYNC reunion (although another JC solo run is a *must*). Still, we’d amply appreciate if the new breed of boyband stopped wallowing in the cheese, and actually concentrated on giving them young girls (and boys) something to really scream about. Today’s superstar’s should be building on the foundations set by their predecessors…not peeing on it.

Let’s be honest, aside from being a poor man’s version of Janet‘s ‘Together Again‘, Rihanna‘s ‘Where Have You Been‘ really is all that and then some.

The latest clip in aid of her new album ‘Talk That Talk’, it premiered on Tuesday and follows the release of the record breaking number ‘We Found Love‘.

However, today gave indication that ‘Where‘ is to best ‘Love’s astounding feats.

Why?

It now holds the record for scoring the most views on VEVO in the shortest amount of time.
