The Soul Train Awards 2021 rolled into the legendary Apollo Theater for a celebration like no other.

Hosted by ‘Martin’ stars Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell, the 50th anniversary of the famed show honored the releases in the R&B realm and beyond.

The ceremony also toasted to the decades of success achieved by Maxwell and Ashanti – who are being presented with the Legend Award and the Lady of Soul salute respectively.

Teyana Taylor may have sent her fans into an uproar last year with the announcement that she was set to retire from making music, but she later surprised them with news she wouldn’t hang up her mic until she hit the road one last time.

That North American jaunt‘The Last Rose Petal…Farewell Tour’ – may have just kicked off November 7 but it has already seen Taylor temporarily say ‘farewell’ to the road thanks to an unexpected medical emergency.

The Soul Train Awards 2021 invites the masses aboard what is sure to be a must-see show.

Held at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, the 50th annual extravaganza salutes to the soulful sounds that have defined the last year.

The show will also be toasting two names that have been dominating for decades – Maxwell and Ashanti, who are receiving the Legend Award and Lady of Soul honors respectively.

That Grape Juice was on-hand at the event and caught up with the likes of Lucky Daye, Leon Bridges, Tristan ‘Mack’ Wilds, El DeBarge, and more.

Dionne Warwick is proving everything is possible on her latest tune.

For, she has joined forces with acclaimed artist Chance The Rapper for a new duet entitled, ‘Nothing’s Impossible.’

The unlikely collaboration came about as the result of a connection the two artists made after Warwick tweeted about Chance The Rapper’s name back in December.

In the tweet, she said:

“Hi @chancetherapper. If you are very obviously a rapper why did you put it in your stage name? I cannot stop thinking about this.”

In January, she confirmed that she would be joining Chance in the studio for a charity single.

Tisha Campbell has re-teamed with longtime friend Tichina Arnold to host the Soul Train Awards 2021.

And this year’s instalment is extra special because it marks the 50th anniversary of the legendary show.

Filmed at the world-renowned Apollo Theater in Harlem, the ceremony will crown some of the most resonating releases of the last year. The show will also honor Maxwell and Ashanti with the Legend and Legend of Soul awards respectively.

Ahead of the broadcast tonight (November 28), Campbell sat down with That Grape Juice‘s Chet Kincaid to dish on what folk can expect from the Soul Train Awards – which features performances from the likes of Silk Sonic, Summer Walker, Ari Lennox, Leon Bridges, Lucky Daye.
