Per an official release, the awards “honor achievements in music across five distinct categories — Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Top Song of the Year, and Top Album of the Year — and winners are chosen through a process that reflects both Apple Music’s editorial perspective and what customers around the world are listening to the most.”

Alicia Keys may be hot on the promo trail in support of her forthcoming double album, ‘KEYS,’ but there seems to be another subject rearing its ugly head in all of her recent interviews:  when rapper Lil Mama‘s infamously crashed the end of the diva’s 2009 MTV VMA performance with JAY-Z.

Christina Aguilera has brought her greatest hits to life.

For, the music icon appeared at the People’s Choice Awards to perform her biggest songs.

As part of the medley, she performed ‘Dirty,’ ‘Beautiful,’ ‘Can’t Hold Us Down,’ ‘Fighter,’ ‘Somos Nada,’ and a rock version of her song ‘Genie In A Bottle.’

She was at the award show to accept the prestigious Music Icon award, which was presented by her friend and collaborator Becky G.

During her speech at the show, she said:

“My artistry has always been for the fighters in this world, for those who face adversity, for those wanting to evoke change, my music is for you.”

On December 2, NBC continued its tradition of adapting some of Broadway’s most memorable musicals to live television programming via a reimagined version of the TONY Award-winning production ‘Annie.’

With singing sensation Celina Smith assuming the role of the titular character and award-winning entertainers Taraji P. Just weeks after the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted Tina Turner, JAY-Z, LL Cool J, and the rest of its 2021 class to historic measure (as we reported here), the National R&B Hall of Fame has unveiled its official list of 2022 nominees.

And while only six to eight inductee slots for are available for next year’s ceremony, a whopping 60 names have been listed on the ballot for fan voting to deem who will see their names printed in the hall.

Among those already garnering buzz for their prospective entry are GRAMMY-winning divas Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, Anita Baker, Toni Braxton, and Sade.
