Both advocates for the rainbow community, Lady GaGa and legendary Patti Labelle delighted the audience at the Boom Boom Room with an impromptu rendition of ‘Over The Rainbow’ earlier this week.

The private event, which was held in New York’s Standard Hotel immediately following the CFDA Awards, saw Labelle request the eccentric one’s presence on stage for a duet. 25 year old GaGa immediately obliged, joining the vocal powerhouse for what was a soaring rendition of the much loved classic.

An unlikely duo? Sure. A great performance? Damn right.

In what will inevitably be billed as a “mutual decision”, it has been announced that the Sugababes are no longer with longtime label Island/Universal Music.

Fans of the controversial trio needn’t stress, however. For Heidi, Amelle, and Jade have already signed with another label.

It seems Lady GaGa‘s legion of loyal ‘monsters’ aren’t the only ones who believe in the controversial Pop sensation.

For, her record label Interscope have so much faith that her upcoming ‘Born This Way‘ LP will be  a commercial success, they are shipping a whopping 2 million units to over 21 outlets across the US ahead of its first week on sale.

With ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ coming closer to its final episode on May 25th, many people have begun to reflect on iconic moments that occurred during its incredible 25-year run. One such moment has the honor of being this week’s From The Vault pick – Patti Labelle’s early 1990s performance of ‘Over The Rainbow’ alongside Oprah herself!

Patti absolutely nailed that performance! Her voice was (and still is) so powerful that she could have easily performed without a microphone!

I can’t think of a single younger singer today who can do what Patti did on that stage with such range, power and control. I just…

Ciara took a brief moment from partying at the Two Kings after-party to speak to Rap-Up TV about several of her upcoming projects. During their talks, the ‘Gimme Dat’ performer elaborated on the public letter that she issued to her fans about her current label situation.

It’s been a difficult 2010 for Mario. Indeed, the year has seen the R&B crooner struggle musically, going on to find public disfavour after being charged with assaulting his mother. Despite being vindicated shortly after, when her drug abuse was revealed to be the true issue, the dropping of the charges certainly didn’t make the headlines his initial arrest did.

In any case, the 24 year old is pressing on and beginning work on his 5th studio album. Not one to hold his tongue, however, he in a recent interview with VIBE magazine, revealed the continued “battles” he is having with his record label.

Having recently scored a double Platinum hit with ‘Just A Dream’, many were surprised to see Nelly‘s latest LP ‘5.0’ under-perform on the Billboard 200 this week.

None more so than the Grammy winning rapper himself; who just moments ago took to Twitter to vent his frustrations at his label  Universal Motown – following the album’s #10 charting and 63,000 first week sales.
