Rihanna’s ‘Disturbia’ Hits #1
Def Jam star Rihanna has landed her 4th #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week with ‘Disturbia’. According to Nielsen Soundscan, the track jumped from #3-#1 this week, leap-frogging rumored boyfriend Chris Brown’s ‘Forever’ which remains at #2 for a second week. It’s interesting to note that 3 of the 4 of the 20 year old’s US #1’s have been from her most recent LP ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’.
Congratulations where congratulations are due; it’s an amazing feat for such a young artist. That said, it goes to show how far questionable talent mixed with killer promo and a label/management constructed image can take you. Evidently very far….well far enough for the quality of the garbage you insist on putting out to not be a factor of your success. Go Rihanna!

Rihanna has talent, she can sing. If she couldn’t, she wouldn’t sing live everytime she performed. Her voice isn’t amazing, but saying she has little to no talent creates a principle that everyone signed to her label or gets as much promo would be as successful as her. I have liked the songs, then liking Rihanna comes after that, so you can’t blame it on promo. It’s a great song, and while it is still a very commercial song it is different to most of what is out there.

The main point is that if Rihanna wrote her own music she would suck. She has talent but has a long way to go. Kelly Rowland can out perform Rihanna any day. For that not Michelle could too.
Rihanna is working with good promo and good looks. Beyonce is working with all of that plus she can actually sing. People always say “No one can jump around and do all that and still be able to sing” but people fail to forget that her dad made her run miles and sing at the same time.
I enjoy Rihanna’s music but she is just a studio singer and nothing more.

WOW, Your right that is kinda odd, that she has 5 Top Ten Hits including 3 #1’s, and Still is under 2 Million, Yet Alicia Keys had only 1 Hit off of her album and she is Triple Platinum, samething with B-Day, it had 2 Top Ten hits and still did 2 Million before it was Re-released! I know every1 has a right to their own opinion, but DAMN. Rihanna doing something right, b/c call it what you want but I smell haters…I agree, Disturbia, is that BS. But ya’ll act like this is new. There have been so many other artist who blew up and were just extremely hot for a certain period of time. Everything they touched went to #1, etc. But Sam I use to respect ur opinion on this girl, but damn did she do something to you personally? I’m not a Rihanna fan at all (But definately she has had some good songs here and there btwn all of her albums), but this is a woman of color doing her thing, be proud that she is doing something positive. Did we give Britney, and all the other carbon copies this much flack when they were the “it” girl.
So don’t just dismiss the girls accomplishments w/ good promo, etc. B/C we all know, the artist is human and they work their assess off everyday to keep their name and product out there as well.

Because I am not the biggest Rihanna fan, and it pisses me off that nothing Beyonce touches can be called bad….
…BUT they both do have some killer songs, in my opinion. And seriously in Beyonce's absense Rihanna has filled the spot for the R&B (slash) / Pop female superstar. hate it or love it. It's true.

If B’Day is Beyonce’s worst album and its only her second but it sold 6/7 million worldwde with only 3 Hits and Irreplaceable really was the standout! BUT look at what all Rihanna has done, but she cant outsell B’Day, she’s suppose to be at like 8 million with all of these hits. But It took her FOREVER to get 5 Million and she still aint double in the US yet!

Bday was not this good when it was it was re release. Bday was release 10 months before GGGB, yet they almost have the same amount of sales worldwide. song for song GGGB is the better album
