To celebrate the release of Janet Jackson‘s career-spanning ‘Number Ones’ compilation (due November 17th), Flash Mob America organised a Janet Jackson flash mob to take place today in Los Angeles. For those unaware of what a ‘flash mob’ is, it’s generally when a group of people break into uniform dance in the random-est of places and usually in front of unsuspecting passers by.
The participants in la Jan’s flash mob, who have been practising for weeks, launched into some of the iconic choreography from some of Janet’s biggest hits including ‘If’ and ‘Nasty’ right there in the middle of the street at The Grove. Kudos to all those involved; they killed it.
A bigger kudos, however, goes to Janet’s team, who have been on fire with her promotion as of late. They’re on some Papa Knowles ish (for Bouncy alone, of course!!! LOL). Loving it

Been hearing about this “flash mob” stuff….great street marketing idea. This was too cute and the Grove is my favorite LA shopping place. Very smart of Janet to actually be there.
I will say the promo seems to be working this time. Maybe it is all timing….Hope the CD goes to #1 (I will buy my copies).

I would also like to know who her people are this time around.. I do think Micheal’s death help open the door for Janet that was closed for many years.. but Janet became an icon on her own, and one horrible event shut her out, and now shes back to opening award shows.. she’s a legend and honestly she’s back where she deserves.. im ready to see people aside from beyonce putting on shows again.. im geeked for her..

I’ll go looking for it on youtube or something, but regarding the death of MJ resurrecting her comeback, yes it’s true and it’s a damn shame that it had to happen this way. I personally have been with her through thick and thin, and I have purchased every single album she’s released since All For You ON THE DAY OF ITS RELEASE (including every album before AFY), so I consider myself a true fan. Therefore it pisses me off a bit when people who turned their backs on her are all of a sudden up in her grill. The same people who let the superbowl bullshit influence them. Shame on all of you fake assess!
At the same time though, it IS nice to see her getting some recognition again. I just don’t like the fact that it doesn’t seem fully genuine.

I couldn’t agree more with most of you guys.. Janet is back on top.. It’s sad though that ppl came back and took notice of her again which to me makes no damn sense. She had all the love and praise until the Damita Jo era and now ever since her bro died ppl is coming to their sense. Janet is a ICON and ppl should have never slept on her. Anyways though that Flash Mob was tight.. Only Janet and Michael can get probs like this. They don’t do this for everybody. Her new team aint playing and this is just for a Greatest Hits album…. So just imagine when she drops her new album next year; how that gonna be!

Janet was planning to release an new album before MJ’s death and she was in talks to do the sequel to Tyler Perry;s Why Did I Get Married so all that nonsense really hush. Yea her team aint playing her promotion is crazy this time around *keeping my fingers crossed she performs on Good Morning America this week* The QUEEN is back YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
