Christina Milian enters new territory with her latest track to surface from her delayed ‘Elope’ LP entitled ‘I’m Sexy’. The song was written by her hit-making husband The-Dream and produced by Tricky Stewart. There is still no word on when ‘Elope’ will hit stores.

Though her vocals initially sound quite jarring in the midst of the beats, I sense that Milian has stumbled upon something very interesting with this one. The record is definitely different from anything put forward by her before and it seems that she has made a staunch effort this time around to distinguish herself from her peers (Beyonce, Rihanna). I am more than ready to hear the full album whenever it drops.

Hit or Miss?

I can imagine the chorus playing in a nightclub, but overall even if they’re going for a more simple, abstract sound it’s a bit too bland melodically. I don’t get why Christina Milian hasn’t really blown to superstar status – she’s talented with a good voice and knows how to write good songs, is hot and can dance; she has the whole package. Imo, she’s wasting her talent with a song like this.

its a interesting, very interesting track, the beat sounds like something Kanye would spit autotune on.

Sidenote: I will never understand what she sees in the Dream? Hes like in the middle of Jayz & Flavor Flav in the ugly department.

  18. Fatima January 10, 2010

Simple-ass R&B fans as usual. This really impressed me. It’s very Bedtime Stories Madonna. Or like club Bjork. Realllllly finding this interesting.

  19. Fatima January 10, 2010

I’m also guessing not many of you listened all the way through and don’t have much experience with dance and trance music. This is all about slow build and the payoff by the end is insane.

    its um ok i guess

I am with Fatima on this one….not much to begin with but builds to be compelling. It is very much like someone has been experimenting with “Bedtime Stories”-era sounds and Janet lyrics. While I want Christina to have another hit or two, I think Rhianna could’ve done something with this track. I hope this is evidence of some musical growth for the Dream & Tricky Stewart because their work with Mariah is atrocious…..
