The midweek sales for the Official UK Album Chart have been released, and it is not at all looking good for the Sugababes. According to the figures, Heidi, Amelle, and Jade look to set to miss the top 10 with their ‘Sweet 7′ LP. As at writing, the record is eyeing a #11-#12 position on the chart.
Ouch. It appears the much publicized drama surrounding the axing of original member Keisha Buchanan was the final for straw for the record-buying public. Early indications of the album’s fate could be seen in the performance of its singles. For despite achieving 3 consecutive top 10 singles from the LP, the songs would drop like a rock the week after release – highlighting a lack of listener loyalty.
It pretty much goes without saying that this album is make or break for the ladies. With the industry being renown for its cut-throat nature, it’s hard to see how any label will keep them on after such disastrous sales. Sales, which when considering the the amount of money the label have invested in the project, as well as the group’s Roc Nation deal, are much worse than they appear on the surface. If business doesn’t pick up with the quickness, it could be over for the ladies.

The only suprise here is that it even made the top twenty! I don’t think i’ve ever seen so much mass promotion for Sugababes even when the real Sugababes where in the group, Posters everywhere TV commercials non stop play of there CRAP new records, yet still people are just not feeling these new girls, the public are loyal and not foolish and despite the fact that management thought Amelle was The babes she clearly is not and never was. If these girls had any sense they would announce that they are going to change there name to Sweet 7 and let the real babes have there name back and start putting out quality music, that would atleast buy them some points, i predict this album will be out of the top 20 next week

I think people have really turned on them as a group because of the whole Keisha thing, but also because the Sugababes used to be a breath of fresh air and different to other bands – now they’re just a cookie cutter girl group.
It’s really a case of on to the next one.
It’s a shame, because I love Jade as a solo artist – girl can sing. Always said she should never have joined the Babes.
Still, it’s a possibilty their album may start off weak but blow up later, like Lady Gaga’s The Fame. But Amelle’s going to need to stop bringing up Keisha every chance she gets.

Interesting- Sweet 7 is very American-sounding. I absolutely love it. I hope their deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation is a go. They have the makings of recapturing an American audience over here. With the addition of Jade, they’re fantastic.

Yep, this album could have been great. If you listen to the original versions of some of the tracks, you can hear they were written for Keisha’s vocals, which work a lot better on several tracks. The good news is that it’s proof there was always a lot more to the Sugababes than studio manipulation of the sound.

The thing that gets me is that Heidi was brought into the Sugababes back in 2001 and should have been honored to be in the group, the same with Amelle. So for them to go back and kick the last original member out of her own band is ridiculous. I can handle one, maybe two lineup changes like we have had in the Sugababes, but the third is just stupid.
Keisha was responsible for the Sugababes new sound, and Jade only really contributed her vocals to the songs. The only song I am guessing that was specifically written for Jade is Sweet and Amazing, or whatever the song is called, because it sounds tailored to Jade’s vocals more. Keisha should have stayed in the band and Amelle should have gone solo. These girls shouldn’t have dissed the fans like they have.

The other girls walked out on them – they thought they were bigger.
Heidi was with them in 2001 – so IS an original memeber.
Heidi was offered a solo by simon cowell back in 2006 – she never took it cos shes loyal – more to say than mutya n ginger one – they left them in the lurch.
Heidi could have easily took simons offer – even become a X factor judge – then the media would be up her buttt like they are with saint cheryl (who only a few years ago was a racist thug who beat a black women in a night club )

The album is really great it’s strange how everyone is being so mean!!! And as for all the ‘hooker’ comments wayyyy off! Think back to the second album and they had Heidi dressed as a stripper in a see through diamanté bra and not much else but a huge Afro in the stronger video! They are pop stars it’s required they ‘make an effort’ we don’t wanna see girls aloud in a sweater vest and tracksuit pants!

I’m gonna be honest I like the Sugababes, whether it’s Heidi, Mutya and Keisha or Amelle, Keisha and Heidi or Jade, Amelle and Heidi but the fact is the group right now is not the Sugababes and even their music proves that.
Jade has an amazing voice but Keisha is irreplaceable and the quality of music they are realising this time around is just not true Sugababes quality. I know they wanted to break the US but honestly! I have the album and I haven’t listened to it yet but I don’t have my hopes up.
I’m surprised Wear My Kiss got as high as it did in the charts and I’m not surprised the album is struggling to crack the top 10

Sweet 7 is wicked loving it – though i had my suspicions that it would flop in comparison to their previous albums – its 10 x better than cat fights and spot lights, but all the media attention about keisha has done them no favours… I also think stupid people who say amelle kickd her out need to be quiet – heidi and amelle had both quit the band it was management who ousted keisha rather than fronting 2 new members… i definitely would not have accepted a sugababes ith keisha + 2 newbies, so ppl need to shut up.. gl girls i hope the album picks up
