R&B star Monica will no doubt be celebrating today; the Grammy winner’s latest LP ‘Still Standing’ has been certified Gold by the RIAA for sales of over 500,000 – just four weeks after it’s release.
Meanwhile, the album’s lead single ‘Everything to Me’ sits atop of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Chart for an impressive 5th consecutive week.

In an industry which sees the flavour of the month top the charts and then disappear, it’s awesome to see a true talent such as Monica holding strong. How refreshing it is to see great music and artists getting the recognition they deserve. Platinum is looking an almost certainty, with the album ‘still standing’ strong in the top ten. And her album may not have sold 500 k yet, but if u were really into the industry and knew how it works, when they say something is certified, it does not mean that they have exactly sold that amount yet, but with the way sales are flowing, the album will indeed get there. It hasnt seen sales of over 500k but it might have shipped 500k copies hence the gold certification. Anywhoo in 4 weeks its sold the entire amount her last album did four years ago so congrats to Monica.

Congrats. Certifications are for shipping, not for sales but that makes it no less of an achievement considereing not only the sales of her own last album but sales of albums in general. It would be great to see her go platinum or atleast match the sales of ‘After The Storm’

I am so proud of Mo. Even through all of the trials and tribulations, she still shines.
