Do you see something? She(Aretha) put an album EVERY YEAR from 1961-1989. And people are complaining about Beyoncé and Rihanna putting out albums when they do. Do people even understand that contracts are done by the album? Not yearly? If you’re a truly a fan of their work, you will buy their work whenever it comes out.
So for anyone who complain about volume of Bey or Rihanna albums: It’s not always about staying in the limelight. Some people love what they do. Some people like to take time off from their work and then come back. Some take time away from their work because they have personal issues that they have to work out.
But especially back in the day, artists released albums, EPs, 45s(if you want to take all the way back) all the time. They were that connected to their music and putting their stuff out there. Plus, especially now, artists are paid by the album contractually. So when an artist finishes their album contract, they can get another contract from their label.
