I get what he was trying to do, with the whole movie theme with his video and now album cover, kind of extending the MJ mini movies idea with his videos, but it appears to be failing.
Maybe he should quit trying to be “different” and edgy because its really not working for him. He needs to stick with his generic love and heartbreak songs and generic videos like the rest.

Um..I usually don’t care about album covers, if I like the music & respect the artist ill buy the album. That being said…this kind if sucks. Like people have said its kinda busy & it looks like and it looks like a cheesy mixtape cover. Not something that is being promoted by S major label.
Plus I still feel like I have no idea what direction he is going with the album. Even with those two long, cheesy pretty much ridiculous ass videos I still feel like I have no idea about the album. I like ‘Champagne Life’ but its not doing to well on the charts & I never liked ‘Beautiful Monster’ and that didn’t even chart. Did it?
Anyway, like someone before me maybe he should just stick to his old formula of sappy love & breakup songs. I applaud him for trying to do something different, but it doesn’t seem to be working for him. Maybe he should be like The Dream & just write for other artist that where all the money is anyway. I have a feeling this album isn’t gonna do to well.

But now it’s his tired ass trademark with the combination of wack ass music not to mention a wack ass mixtape cover. I don’t believe that “black people” feel as though being a gentleman is not a highly desirable quality in a man – and there is much more to being a gentleman than simply proclaiming oneself to be as he has! I think that people of all “stripes” are just tired of artists using any gimmick or scheme to sell them a product. Just sing, dance, write beautiful lyric and compose great music all of which he is more than capable of doing. It is this constant EXTRA “STUFF” that he adds to every discussion particularly about OTHERS that makes people look *SIDE-EYED* at him! IMO

I don’t like this. It’s more fitting as a single cover for “Beautiful Monster” since it follows the theme of the video. The main album cover should represent Ne-Yo and his music; his dancers have no part in that.
