  2. Jay September 14, 2010

    The music industry is really crazy. I’m still in awe that a grown ass black man is singing/ performing this type of song.

  3. ANYNOMOUS September 14, 2010

  4. Alex September 14, 2010

    Chris Brown kill this baby singing geriatric dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. PLAIN AND SIMPLE September 14, 2010

    Usher was good. I hope with all this promotion it will help his CD sales.

  6. Nan September 14, 2010

    That was nice, but Usher seem a little stiff now-a-days…

  7. Philly11 September 14, 2010

    These comments r so disrespectful. Chris Brown being gone helped Usher. Chris Brown has never sold more than Usher and Usher has been doing this for well over a decade. But not hate to Chris either because he is talented. Sometimes peoples statements just boggle my mind.

    I like the song (it was penned by Max Martin = God) and Usher’s performance has been solid… but… and don’t hate me for this… I kinda feel like he’s artistically sold out. I swear he was denouncing Jay Sean and Taio Cruz for not really being r’n’b singers a few months ago, and he puts out this and OMG – two pure pop songs. I just feel like he’s sacrificed his identity to get a couple of big hits and stop his career from stalling.

    another great peformance go usher if any male will be the new king of pop its deff him

  10. KRS088 September 14, 2010

    A little stiff just like that skull on his shirt. Don’t like the song but the show was decent.

    @Richard…

    I get what you are saying. I think the diff with Taizo Cruz and/or Jay Sean is that they have always been “pop” singers and did not release anything else to juxtaposition these pop songs. As I’ve said countless times on this site, R&B is not selling like it used to back in the 90s and early 2000s. It is very difficult to garner a top 10 hit with just a solid R&B song.. and even Chris Brown’s most recent biggest hits in No Air and that one that was in the gum commercial were pop tracks too, not R&B. Therefore in order to continue to sell — and esp to build his momentum up once more — he has done what Beyonce’ did with I AM… Released one song for pop and one for urban to take advantage of both charts.

    During this era he has had R&B hits in There Goes My Baby, Hey Daddy, Papers, and most recently Hot Toddy which have all been in the top 10 if not top 3 of R&B/Hip Hop charts. And these hits have been released simultaneously along your OMG’s and DJ Got Us Fallin Loves… that’s the difference between Usher and Jay Sean/Taizo Cruz.

    I will say about this era though, it’s not as good as Here I Stand — as much as people hated that for it being so heavily connected with his personal life which every one did not approve of. His performances back then — with the exception of that BET Awards performance & the MTV one where he was obviously wasted LOL — were top notch performances. Esp DWTS & the NFL Kick off… which are the only few televised performances that he did come to think of it. HIS was authentic Usher, and it was real. Raymond vs Raymond is doing exactly what his AR, Mark Pitts, wanted him to do.. “Shake off the old ‘s***'” and garner a younger and NEWER fan base. The problem with that is that Usher has been in the game for 15 years, and he’s at a weird position in his career in which at 31 he has to find a good medium of making songs true to his art form and age appropriate which still have crossover appeal.

    Just look at how big Trey Songz is in R&B, and still even he has struggled to go platinum or impact the Hot 100 charts. I think the next album Usher does will be the one to make or break him. RvsR is giving him the momentum he needs to get back on track and instances of the ‘old Usher’ are there in many of the tracks that Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis recorded with him. All he needs to do now is get back on track with his ‘dance’ records.. and I say that loosely b/c while Usher has always danced in videos, the songs he did were never ‘club anthems’ until the success of Yeah took off to epic proportions. Now it seems he’s always chasing after that big track to open with.

    In a market where R&B is not the money making genre it once was, and if you branch off into other things which are not well received and thus deemed flops by the masses, it is very difficult to sustain oneself.

  12. POZER_MODELL September 14, 2010

    he is bassically just dancing and throwing in a few vocals here and there MEEHHHH!!!!!!

  13. Heaven September 14, 2010

    Oh goodness, now the Usher fans want to beat Chris fan’s over the head with how great Usher is. No one is going deny him or cry for him. He is a very successful performer. But you’re only as good as your last hit in the industry these days. I cringed watching that VMA performance. Yeah, he is still very relevant but he’s 32 doing that kiddie song and antiquated moves. He is not MJ.

    Usher’s audience is older- cater to them. I’m not a big fan but I like some of his songs. I love “There goes my baby” because it’s him and it’s age appropriate.

    Say what you want…Chris is an all around performer and out dances him. Trey Songz doesn’t. HA!

  15. OH HELL NO September 15, 2010

    Michael Jackson is and will forever be the KING OF POP WTF did i just read? Usher Raymond is the King OF NOTHING! He has benefited the most from MJ passing. “Everyone”, well the powers brokers in the music industry, have deemed him worthy of replacing MJ. To that I say OH HELL NO! MJ’s music evolved with the times where this crap from Usher Raymond is just forced pop music! There is nothing authenic about him.

  16. OH HELL NO September 15, 2010

    *power* *authentic”

  17. SHUT UP September 15, 2010

    @AKA KID SID

    If you think Usher is the New King of Pop you have no idea of what pop music really is. A few whack ass dance tracks with digital beats does not equal pop. Usher is R&B with a bit of pop thrown in. Usher will never be on MJ’s level because he borrowed 90% of MJ’s act.

    The legendary comedian George Carlin (who was RAW and HONEST till his dying day) told the truth about what the ONE & ONLY KOP was and STILL IS!!

  18. SHUT UP September 15, 2010

    @OH HELL NO

    Isn’t it funny how the “power brokers” in the industry thought MJ was no longer relevant, legendary, or the KOP but they still continue comparing other LESS talented artists to him. They wrote him off as a p*** freak has-been, tried to destroy him, and now they are anxiously awaiting his posthumous albums and someone to “fill his place” ???

    What PATHETIC HYPOCRITES!!!! They will live to regret the day the turned on him.

  19. 473227 September 15, 2010

    @AKA KID SID

    KING OF POOP!!!!!!

  20. JANE BUT NOT TARZAN’S B**** September 15, 2010

  25. DANNI September 15, 2010

    He just looked like an old man trying to keep up with the younger dancers. sorrreee…embarrassing to watch… trying so hard… but I do like Usher lol

  26. Conrad September 15, 2010

    USHER KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLED IT! HE´S THE BEST PERFORMER ON THE GAME RITE NOW! STOP TALKIN S*** ABOUT HE SELLING HIMSELF OUT, HES GETTING ALL-AROUND AND IF DOING GREAT SONGS , THAT TOTALLY WORKS FOR ME!

  27. Theman September 15, 2010

    Lol at all of the Flop Brown Haters. Chris at his peak cannot touch Usher. Chris is just a hyper street dancer. Usher’s dancing technique and style overall is way better than Chris’. This song is good for him. He’s 31 is a young man. Not a kid. So what if he makes fun records. He’s an artist. He’s making music that will appease all of his fans. Are u people idiots or what. Real r&b music isn’t selling as much as it used to so u have to appeal to the masses. There Goes My Baby’ has been the besr r&b male track out. This dude is an awesome performer, he can sing and entertain. He’s what a record label wants.

    Even if Chris was doing well he would’nt have any impact on Usher. Usher is one of the Kings of r&b period. Chris can barely hold a note without wimpering or whinning. Thats idiotic to say that he should make music for one demographic. Make your music universal.

    He has records for all of his fans.

  28. Theman September 15, 2010

    By the Way Here I Stand’ sold a million copies, still platinum, and nowadays thats hella good, i know coming off of Confessions it does’nt seem spectacular, but no other r&b male artist besides Chris and perhaps John Legend was going platinum, implus he got another #1 of that album with Love In The Club’. May’be not the sales he wanted but still a success.

  29. Theman September 15, 2010

    This is what he does when your Usher you ain’t gotta keep up with anyone. He sales albums and sales out arenas. Of anything they’re trying to atleast get slightly to where he is.

  30. Theman September 15, 2010

    Now that there is how u Kill a performance, not other dancer moves as effortless and smooth as Usher does.

  31. Rihsus September 15, 2010

    That is such a horrible photo of him, start using a better one please.
    Cool performance but he barely sings this song lol. The backing track does all the work.

  32. Angie September 16, 2010

    Damn…he is too fine. I will see you in December Usher!!
