Mario has been arrested and charged with 1 count of 2nd degree assault. The ‘Let Me Love You’ singer was held on $50k bond early this morning after being detained for an incident involving his mother and the destruction of property. All the details are available below:
Baltimore-born R&B singer Mario was arrested and charged early this morning after police responded to an altercation that involved his mother, according to court records and two law enforcement sources.
There are few details at the moment, but court records show Mario — whose full name is Mario Dewar Bennett — is charged with one count of second-degree assault. Sources said they were called to the 900 block of Fell St. after the singer’s mother called police.
He was held on $50,000 bond by a District Court commissioner, which he posted and was released.
At 12:53 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 900 block of Fells St for a call for a “mental case breaking up property” inside an apartment. Officers met Hardaway in the front lobby — she was crying and appeared very upset, officers wrote. She said Mario was “throwing and damaging property” in the apartment they share, and had pushed her using his hands and forearms, causing minor pain. When police went up to the apartment, they found a damaged china cabinet and the floor littered with broken glass. A mirror was broken, and there was a large hole in a closet door.
She said it was the second such time he had put his hands on her in recent days — on Sept. 27, she said, they got into an argument in which he pushed her “eight feet into a living room wall, where Ms. Hardaway hit her head on the wall,” police wrote in charging documents.
“When this officer asked the victim if she fears for her life in reference to her son’s actions, the victim replied ‘yes,’” the officer wrote.

This is terrible. Mario has been through alot with his mom. He’s had a rough childhood due his mother fighting her addiction to drugs. It’s sad to see that there’s so much violence on the homefront. I hope things get better for the both of them.

Mario’s mom is a recovering (yeah okay) drug addict. He’s been dealing with some swirling rumors that momma aint been so recovering lately which has caused some problems with them. Mario has been doing his damnedest to do right by his mother but she keeps pulling him back down with her addiction. She has indeed squandered a lot of HIS money over the years first with the drugs, then the rehabilitation and now back to the drugs. I’m hoping she’s not on drugs and there may be something else going on and that they can work this out, but IM TELLING YOU DO NOT JUDGE THIS MAN FROM THIS 1 STORY because HE HAS BEEN THERE FOR HER WHEN NO ONE ELSE WAS AND EVERYBODY WAS TELLING HIM HE WAS A GOOD FOOL FOR IT…

Mario does not live with his mother. His mother actually lives with him. He actually bought her a condo after she got off drugs but somehow she went back on and I guess he took that away. He’s been taking care of her for years and actually put her in rehab several times. if you watched the documentary they did she showed her ways especially when he did not want to support her habit.

I’m not condoning his actions, but his mother is a drug addict (specifically heroin) that is forced to live with him because of her addiction. During his small series, it seemed like his mother had such a negative presence around him which affects his career. He had to deal with witnessing her constantly go back and forth with being clean and relapsing. It also seemed like she was more concerned with him supporting her habit then anything. I think he is (or was) doing the best he could for his mother because he constantly sends her to rehab and deals with the pressure of assisting her to keep her from using again and again. Like I said, I’m not condoning his actions, but I think that affects him negatively and it becomes extremely stressful after so long.
I wish him well because I actually think he’s a really great singer. I really love his voice! He has so much potential. And I loved his ‘Turning Point’ album.
