New Song: Jennifer Lopez – ‘On The Floor (Ft. Pitbull)’

Published: Saturday 15th Jan 2011 by Trent

The full version of Jennifer Lopez’s ‘On The Floor’ has been released. The song was produced by RedOne and features Pitbull. Give it a listen below:

This track is definitely a winner. The clever Lambada club sample outweighs the typical RedOne production and the pulsating beats aduquately masked Lopez’s thin vocals. Pitbull’s verse, while lyrically nonsensical, also worked well in the mix.

However, while ‘On The Floor’ may be a strong contender for the Dance charts, Lopez will need to release something with more mainstream appeal to garner success on the Billboard Hot 100. Still, this record has potential to be a strong album track.

  22. DION-ISH January 15, 2011

    @HMMM?

Everyone has different taste in music, no particular music is right or wrong.

You can simply move on to what you like and keep it cute. Me Personally enjoy all types of music…..

  23. CG GIRL- Just My Opinion January 15, 2011

HORRIBLE! Jennifer vocals are weak, the song is generic, and the song is not catchy… Where is the hook?

  24. Hmmm? January 15, 2011

@ Dion-ish I get ya but it’s like since Gaga started with The whole dance ,Euro-pop thing everybody is copying her and music has become generic and it all sounds the same. But don’t tell me to keep it cute. When i was just saying what I felt you keep it the f*** cute lol ( Jokes! I don’t do that blog arguing thing though dawg) I respect your opinion but I’ll stick by mine

  25. DION-ISH January 15, 2011

    @HMMM?

Ummm Not Really Since artist like Madonna & Rihanna were doing Dance-pop music before Gaga….Esp since there both tied on the dance charts o_O

    *Sips Tea*

  26. UGh January 15, 2011

I just CANNOT believe how dance music is taking over the music world. I don’t mind it but i’m not happy about it either and this song sounds VERY generic.

  27. luis January 15, 2011

WAIIITTTT. is it me, or does this song sounds like stereo love, and party o clock by kat deluna a bit? Either wayyy this song is hottt 🙂

  32. luis January 15, 2011

@HMMM? – Negative, this dance/pop crap definitely didn’t start after lady gaga. What do you guys think? Like please get your facts straight. Rihanna’s GGGB album had dance and pop songs ( please don’t stop the music, etc .. ).

  33. Hmmm? January 15, 2011

@ Dion-ish doesn’t matter madge hasn’t been hot in the us for a minute and rhianna was still more R&B/Pop until Loud. After the fame came out a yr later dance music was and is the new craze And Madonna and RiRi are tied on the dance charts? Was that a serious statement? Madonna has 40#1’s on the dance chart!!!

    KILL THIS TECHNO B*******

  35. DION-ISH January 15, 2011

    @HMMM?

Is that why her last tour was the highest grossing tour by a female artist EVER? Is that why she continues to gain airplay even to this day after 25yrs?! So yea and Actually after SOS, Dont Stop The Music, Disturbia etc.. Dance music became the new craze. Rihanna actually brought back a lot of looks and sounds first…..Then gaga came along and contributed as well.

On The Hot Dance Airplay Chart there Tied…sooo ummm yea.

    http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=390662226138&comments

  36. Hmmm? January 15, 2011

And @ LUIS it wasn’t as popular until 2009 plus gaga helped made it very popular. So get your facts straight and speak when spoken to

  37. Hmmm? January 15, 2011

@ Dion-ish that chart wasn’t made until 2003 so you can’t discredit what was done before hand don’t try to come for me over Rihanna you seem like a pressed stan

  38. Miguel January 15, 2011

I love this song so much she did a great job and I cannot wai ttill she drops her singles!

  39. DION-ISH January 15, 2011

    @HMMM?

Honey im just stating facts to you. You the one sound like a delusional Gaga stan…..Stating Shes the first to bring dance-pop craze to mainstream o_O um no sweetie…..if anybody did of our time its Rihanna. and then again not even her….Its Ultimately Madonna.

  40. luis January 15, 2011

@HMMM? – uhm nooo, you get your facts straight because i know for sure what the hell im talking about. I’m not gonna waste my time, your probably one of those crazy little monsters of hers. SMH

  41. luis January 15, 2011

  43. Kevin January 15, 2011

    it’s ok.
sorry, but it is nothing better than Ke$ha or Rihanna, or Britney. Usually Lady Gaga’s have a flare of brilliance that set her songs apart from the rest (piano intro to Paper Gangsta, anyone? Violin intro to Alejandro?)

Theses songs are all the same. I NEED ME SOME BEYONCE AND GAGA TO SHOW THESE LESSORS HOW ITS REALLY DONE.

THEN I NEED ME SOME MARIAH WHISTLES TO BLOW AWAY THE FALSE ARTISTS THAT DARE CALL THEMSELVES DIVA’S.

  44. DION-ISH January 15, 2011

The Only Pop Artist that i can say ACTUALLY really is different and sets herself apart from the other Pop artist is Rihanna.

Half the time Gaga and Kesha’s music sound COMPLETELY alike. They have the same “clever” analysis of lyrics whether its about disco sticks, bubble dreams, or animals *Shrugs*

  45. Hmmm? January 15, 2011

@ Dion-ish Hold up i’m not even a Gaga fan. I don’t have her album or one song by her. But she sticks out because she is more dance and was all over the place. Say what you want but Rihanna is more Pop/R&B than dance don’t stop the music was dance but GGGB wasn’t a dance album Loud is. Confessions of a dance floor would be a better example which is one of my favorites and i don’t even like dance music like that. @Luis rolls eyes and says get off dion-ish d*** homie. But I get ya@ Dion-ish though you’re right in some things i’m human my fault. And for the record Madonna is the best selling female so why wouldn’t she have the the best selling tour out of the females?

  46. Ricky January 15, 2011

The intro and rap totally ruins it. It’s completely unnecessary.

  47. DION-ISH January 15, 2011

    ^^

I never said Rihanna wasnt Pop/R&B but overall shes generally Pop. just like Britney (or pink), she has R&B inspired records but ultimately her records are Pop and shes considered a pop princess.

Someone whom is huge in R&B and Pop is Beyonce….Rihanna isn’t that influential or popular in R&B like she is in Pop.

  48. DION-ISH January 15, 2011

    @HMMM?

and GGGB is in fact a Dance-Pop album.

  49. Jessica Carmichael January 15, 2011

  51. MUSIC LOVER January 15, 2011

Not to sound blunt, but are we all listening to the same thing?! This song is utterly terrible!

  52. sTreys January 15, 2011

this is not a bad song, the production is solid, pitbull and jlo entertaining, but seriously i can’t…this pop is killing me WHEN THIS not enough good….things like yeah3x or tonight from enrique I enjoy it a lot but this one is sooooooo cliche i just can’t and im disapointed, hope it wont be a single (even if it seemed made to be one) anyway she recorded enough great tracks so thats ok i hope….Seriously….fresh out the even is ten level better than that though

  53. Ghetto Fab January 15, 2011

Dead @ the Gaga stans getting their wigs pulled. That’s right b****** she didn’t start s***. She can’t even be credited for bringing it back.

Actually if anyone is to lay claim to this whole Dance/House movement it belongs to Black
Gay Men! They started this s*** back in the 80s. All this is today is a revival. But let’s not be delayed girls. All this House/Dance music is an offshoot of Disco Funk and Soul. Which in default = Black music.

  54. GangsterA January 15, 2011

i love it its very catchy btw neither did rihanna or gaga started the dance-pop its was madonna and kylie then the youngest female to come with it is BRITNEY SPEARS and since 1998 its britney thing

  55. mindgames January 15, 2011

    f*** Shitbull

  56. lola January 15, 2011

It has a very nice dance/club beat, and her thin, soft vocals work well, but WTF with all of the electro, Euro, and techno pop music!?! I mean, in all honesty, JLo has always done a mix of Dance, Latin, R&B, Hip-Hop and Pop music, so this fits her well, but the only reason why she’s releasing this dance track is because it’s in. When Hip-Hop and R&B was in, she released those singles like crazy. Also, I thought her career was over. This woman is over 40, can’t sing, has kids, is married… why doesn’t she just give it up? A lot of people disliked her when she was famous because she used her marriages and engagements for fame and was a total diva/b****!

WTF is with these music artists? There was a time when this sound was very unique and low key. Now people are hopping on the bandwagon. It really is sad and pathetic. I’m dead serious when I say that if I was a music artist, I would definitely get away from making the same music that everyone is making because I would want to stand out from the crowd. It’s a shame how easily influence these music artists are and it’s more of keeping a career than money for musicians like Usher, JLo, Enriquee Iglesias, ect because they already have millions of dollars. I have no problem with genres such as pop and electronic, but I do have a problem with generic music. Where’s the variety? Why can’t there be a nice balance of every type of music on the radio or selling on Itunes?

  57. CURLY SUE January 15, 2011

ALL THIS DANCE MUSIC S*** IS STARTING TO SOUND ALIKE.

  58. IREALLYDONTCARE January 15, 2011

  60. Roab January 15, 2011

The Pitbull intro is so long, I would think it was his song. The Jlo part is cool but you gotta loop the Pitbull after her,

    I give it a pass.

  61. tumay January 15, 2011

Im so sick of Pitbull!!!! why does all latin artists have to use him? what a cliche!!!

  62. gimmemorebrit January 15, 2011

Demo or no demo, this is pure GARBAGE! Same goes for Ke$ha and all the other dance crap that’s out these days. What happened to REAL, Soulful music?!??!!!! Can someone answer me that?! It’s uncanny. I’m just gonna sit this dance craze out. It will pass, and hopefully soon…

  67. deman January 15, 2011

JLO is snatching all your faves wigs……stay mad haters

  68. deman January 15, 2011

    song is EPIC

  69. vegasgirl January 15, 2011

I guess the song is ok but honestly by the time I got to the bottom of the page after reading the comments, I can’t remember what it sounded like! That’s probably not good, I can’t remember the melody right now.

I do enjoy dance music but seeing EVERYBODY jump on the bandwagon with VERY SIMILAR sounding songs is disappointing. Most of these mainstream artists are just going where the money is and for some reason people aren’t tired of this yet. Same producers, same beats, same concepts yet everybody just keeps listening and downloading . When are people going to say enough is enough? Everything now sounds like 90’s trance/house music, this s*** doesn’t even sound fresh, its all recycled.

  70. ICON January 15, 2011

I like it. but It’s been released too early. It would be a huge summer hit but oh well I hope this song is a hit.

Did @Hmmm? seriously say that GGGB isn’t a dance album?
    DEAD.

GGGB was half dance-pop half pop/R&B ballads – but don’t discredit its dance sound because “Don’t Stop the Music” was the only dance single released from the album.

Besides, Gaga didn’t make it popular, either. Madonna was topping charts with dance music and half of the songs in 2007 were dance-pop tracks. Gaga never made it more popular. She AND Britney, Rihanna, and others have TOGETHER made dance-pop a craze which others have followed.

Horrible. I am disappointed by the song. Jlo sounds best when she does r’n’b/hip hop music.
She should do a song like I am real remix or From the Block song.

I am so over dance music. The American artist always run to the most popular sound and than kill it because everyone is bored to hear 20 artist using the same s***.

No wonder the music industry is dying if they do all the same s***. I mean they can not expect people to spend their hard earned money on all these sub standard music.

  107. liljokerrr January 15, 2011

@hmm Jlo has been doing dance songs since she first came out.. idk what you are talking about.. but shes not copying anyone.. do your research listen to her remix album it sounds just like this…… and it was from 2002.. So get it together HMM f****** idiot.

May i just call bull s*** on anyone who says gaga started the whole dance music thing im sure other artists were doing it before her an example britney spears with blackout it came out a year before gaga’s the fame but yeah i like both but people really need to stop comparing everyone to gaga i love her and all but jeez
As for the J.Lo song its hot cant wait for it to come out so i can dance to some J.Lo and Brit Brit at the same time 😀

  131. Gilberto January 17, 2011

Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Britney Spears and J.Lo have “started” the dance-pop songs, the others just followed the river. Lady Gaga added the “eletronic” beat.

It sounds like that reggae song from back in the days. “Girl you look so fine dah dah dah dah dah in ya poom poom shorts.” Lol forget the lyrics in the middle but that’s the same sing J Lo is singing but with different lyrics. I dont know about the other song she sampled but yea…

  137. DANCE HEAD August 16, 2011

friggin pop artist doing dance music. its comical. they are not dj’s. the producers who made this grabage are NOT dj’s either. Leave electronic music to the dj’s and the dutch!!! Believe me…dance music fance dont want this pop garbage.
