She was already beautiful with the nose, Why in the hell would they photoshop it thin? Makes me sick..ugh! All features are beautiful and should be enbraced.
But with that being said, she looks good here. That main pic Trent posted shouldve been the cover..lol!
lmao, the first thing i said was “who is that?” that is NOT rihs nose, nice pics, nothing we havent seen from her before, i expected them to be like idk, some crazy hot ishh.

I really like the first pic with her real hair. Looks very 2008.
Uh yea she looks pretty but I’ve seen her look better actually the italia vogue she looked wayyy better, and it screamed more high fashion…she does look pretty I feel like they should have tooken better pictures congrats on being the youngest to grace the vogue cover =)
Trent, you love you some Rihanna! You get this s*** up faster than RihannaDaily. I don’t blame you, Rihanna shits on every stupid ass person who visits this shithole website.
Anways, Rihanna looks gorgeous. Most beautiful girl to walk the earth. Lovely skin, breathtaking eyes, fiery red hair, and juicy titties and ass. Love me some Rih.
Rih, continue to s*** on Beyonce, Gaga, Chris, Katy, and all of the lessers I forgot about. We all know you can sing/dance better than Beyonce’s tired ass.
#BOOM
Why did they photoshoped her nose? i like her natural nose better, it goes with her beautiful face. smh
her nose is not photoshopped …its the angle of the photograph ….
So typical for haters to focus on something negative
Still waiting on Chris Brown to leak a photo of his ASS so that I can get excited about FAME
She sounds really good in magazines, definitely.
And it looks like their photoshopped her nose and her b****** though.
Overall, the pics are great but I’ve seen way better from Rihanna. Annie L is loosing it.
Yes, she “sounds” ^^
Haters can stay mad! Hahahahaahhaah!
Hmm Not bad at all but she’s had better, I don’t like that her nose is thin it takes away from the beauty that her real nose has.
Her Vogue Italia>>>>>Us Vogue cover
Rihanna slays you all.
rihanna has never been that gorgeous or pretty to me.
oh well *sigh*
she should go back to short hair tho…that looks good on her.

Just when I was trying to be positive about this witch here you go with some Chris Brown SH**! Don’t worry about his pretty high-yellow as*, you just worry about RihWHORE not leaking any more of her nasty crotch shots to the world! I guess this time the little white boy she’s now screwing will be to blame!
F.A.M.E. March 22 Yeah 3X Hater!!!
I thought I was the only one that noticed her breast was large in that photo.
Why have they made her b****** look like pamela anderson? everyone will KNOW that is photoshopped :\
FUKIN GORGEOUS!!
Simply Amazing, and Breath taking…..These Shots are Simple as hell and YET she still makes it look AMAZE! Soo Naturally Captivating!
Cant wait to READ the interview, Heard its truly Inspiring, And Touching.
Expecting more from Vogue. She’s taken better flicks than this!
Magazines sure are desperate to sell copie these days. First Snookie on the cover of Rolling stone–now Rihanna on the cover of vogue.
The reading was funny especially that L.A. Reid part he had the nerve to insult Diana Ross. Jay Z was comical also he did not hear anything he saw a cute girl and nothing more cause Rihanna has just about the same thing she had when he met her when it comes to the singing I belive less now because she is so Autotune and uses backtracking now to support the goat. She dont have to open her mouth to say anthing just open it and the machine does the rest. The pictures are boring on the cover and inside. Way to much photoshop. Fake to the bone and I hope soon the end!
^^^
Boo….You Sound PRESSED.
Why wouldn’t RIHANNA be on the cover of Vogue?! Shes one of the Leading International Female Pop Fashion Icons of our Time?!
@WHYSTILLINBUSINESS
Seems like you DONT like RIhanna YET took the Time to Read her Interview in Vogue….ENOUGH SAID. *FYI–Were can i find it online, you seem to know more then me AND IM A FAN S***…ROFL*
And Actually Rihanna sings w/o Autotune or any backtracking …Obviously you haven’t seen her perform her ballads. SMH
Yesss! That first pic is giving me life LOVE it! Every one of these photos s*** on that whack ass cover, IMO. This is the only thing she really SLAYS at.
Rihanna hateres are so corny..miserable losers! Rihanna is absolutely beautiful!
@ Dion-Ish
Actually, I’m far from pressed. I adore Rihanna’s photo shoots. I would almost agree that she should be on the cover.
Except that Rihanna went from looking like Beyonce, to looking like Fefe Dobson, to looking like Kelis to looking like Ariel. She’s never had a style of her own, because she doesn’t style herself.
Most of the “fashion icons” of today, including and especially Rihanna have a stylist pick clothes out for them and an art director to brand them and come up with a theme. She has one of the best stylists and art directors. She is exceptionally photogenic, and wears make-up very well. I also think she’s got a great body type–that’s why she looks great in what she wears.
Deserving of the cover of Vogue? Maybe Grace Jones was–because that’s who she bites. Grace was original, creative, stylish and statuesque. She styled herself. I’m sick of seeing people who play dess up get called “fashion icons”.
Vogue is trying to sell magazines, as they should. Point blank.

Well OK Miss Aunt Jackie, From What I See….IMO Your Pressed. And thats Just that.
Rihanna has always had a style of her own, You my Dear mistake Renovation for being confused! Rihanna takes Risk regarding her Fashion, which makes her admired today as a trend setter. Has she had similar looks to the individuals you spoke of, yes. Did she make it her own?! Absouletly! Originality is about making it your own! …Nothings original! If you want to go there sweetheart…Lets talk about How Beyonce’s took plenty of pages from J-Lo and Shakira….So Lets NOT. Like i said everyone is inspired in fashion, its how you make it your own.
And Please with the PLAYED OUT notation that Rihanna has no control over her own image. EVERY Fukin Celeb has a Stylist…The thing with rihanna is She has ONE stylist Mariel that she works hand and hand with regarding her fashion….Its been said and proven time and time again…She doesnt just send for a stylist to send her clothing…She has a say in what she wears and does. Rihanna is very Fashion forward and studies the art of fashion from which its been proved by her Documentary with GUCCI UNICEF and plenty of accusation were she actually studies it while @ the fashion shows.
Rihanna is a Fashion Icon and nothing you can say will Denounce that, esp since she Landed VOGUE and obviously thats a HUGE statement. Also Being shes the Youngest Black Female to do soo
*Flips Bang*
Rihanna’s backbend >>>>>>>> Cedric’s.
Who gon’ check me?
Rih Rih better GET it with this shoot!
The shoot >>>> The actual cover. This is SURELY a ‘LIGHTS! SOMEBODY GETTING FIRED!’ moment if there ever were one.
*sips Martini*
@ Dion-Ish
I didn’t say she doesn’t have control–I said she doesn’t style herself. How is someone a fashion icon when they don’t create there own pieces or even put them together? How are they a fashion icon when the bring NOTHING new to the table? It makes no sense at all. But then again, the people that buy into Vogue’s prestige now don’t know much about fashion as it is.
But that’s the world we live in. People will believe anything. Stylist? Check. Expensive S***? Check. No originality? Check. The people below are original artists and REAL fashion icons. There aren’t any people from this era because they are too busy copying the people on the list below. You have no concept of history and it’s pitiful.
Grace Jones
Marlon Brando
Audrey Hepburn
Elizabeth Taylor
Jackie O
Steve McQueen
Jean-Michel Basquiat
Madonna
Coco Chanel
Michael Jackson
Tiwiggy
Josephine Baker
Iman
Naomi Campbell
Beverly Johnson
Edie Sedgewick
^^^
Sweetie Your Reaching BEYOND the Point….Rihanna is a style icon of OUR Time.
Those women ESP Madonna, Have paved the way for the Fashion Icons of today (Gaga, Rihanna)
…And Rihanna is very Involved in her Creative Process.
Plus MAJORITY of Fashion Icons dont ACTUALLY Make the pieces o_O ??? Im confused by your statement there. Naomi Is Styled by Designers….But has Great Knowledge regarding Fashion and her own personal style.
@ Dion-ish
I wasn’t reaching beyond any point–other than the one I made. Which is the the pop stars of our time don’t do much more than copy the people on that list I posted. If they don’t make the pieces, OR put them together….that makes them what? A professional doll?
It’s just falling on deaf ears because you are a complete super fan. Anyway, I much preferred her shoot in Italian Vogue. It was strong, striking and beautiful. This one….not so much.
^^
OK.
Don sPeak for yourself. She’s a fashion icon of “your own time” not “our time” . Pole keep giving this girl more credit than she deserves.
She better not cut her hair back..
I’m liking it long
Rhianna photographs better than beyonce rhianna so photogenic the camera loves her more than beyonce
@Auntie Jackie
All the people you mentioned had stylists.
Furthermore Michael Jackson got his military style jackets from Adam Ant. Madonna ripped off Cyndi Lauper, Naomi Campbell has always been dressed up by designers… What exactly is your point?
Rihanna gets paid a cool $100k by top designers to sit in the front row at catwalk shows more than any female singer out there. That fact alone should makes a grand statement within itself that Rihanna is a force in the fashion world to be reckoned with. Then there is the fact that Anna Wintour, the b**** with iron balls came calling for Rihanna to be on the cover of the most prestigious fashion magazine in the world whereas the likes of Beyonce had to launch a campaign for years to be on it.
Stop trying to downplay Rihanna’s relevance in fashion and music. According to Forbes this young lady is already worth $140million and still counting and she is here to stay.
does anyone know what happened to RATED R??? i saw her live she was terrible, very lethargic but the pictures are great.
i think she should model instead, singing is definately not for HER
@ DEB

Actually, according to Forbes, Rihanna is worth $25 million – which I find a bit funny myself considering how big she is. Then again, there is a dearth of writing/production credits to her name, so….
*sips Martini*
Actually on imdb it says Rihanna is worth around the 120million mark. The 25million figure was from 2 years ago. Since then her albums have sold millions as well as her singles which are bordering on the 70 million mark. She also co wrote most of rated R which has also sold over 3 million WW and is the executive producer on her albums including the latest one. Then she has her perfume, has just started her own company ‘Rihanna Entertainment’ and grosses on average half a million per show on tour. Then there are the million dollar homes in LA and Barbados. Rihanna also has endorsements from the likes of Gucci, Covergirl, Kodak , Peugeot to name just a few of plenty.
However, no matter how much you slice it, 125m or 25 m, that is still a remarkable achievement for a 23 year old woman who left her country at aged 16 to seek her fortune, from a very humble background and who grew up selling clothes from the back of her father’s car in a developing country.
Her life is a high grossing biopic in the making.
I don’t really care for the short wig or some of the expressions she’s making in this photo shoot. Rihanna usually does better than this! I like the long red hair for her now much more.
*Updated*ThePagewithroyalkev.b*******.com(…Still a place for EVERYTHING! )
Grace jones was styled by her then boyfriend and photographer Jeasn paul Goode…. eveyone st this level is styled …the point is that most often Rihanna works the style and makes it her own….
Women go into the salon and ask to have their hair done like Rihanna even if the same style has been done before
If you think Chris Brown does not have a stylist and a publicist and a nanny…think again
@Team Riri
That figure is actually from just a week ago – it was included at the bottom of an article about Diddy being the wealthiest rapper. Towards the latter end of 2010, Forbes estimated Rih’s wealth at being around $25 million.
I can provide receipts if need be. 🙂
*sips Martini*
Celebrity Net Worth says she’s worth about 60M, which I think makes the most sense.
http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/singers/rihanna-net-worth/
Hi, haters. Yeah, that’s Rihanna curling her lip at you from the cover story of American Vogue
Yes, receipts, please
@Team RiRi
Agree about her achievements, though. She has accomplished a lot; especially for a girl from a third world country.
🙂
Receipts, please (Tha Phoenix)?
TGJ ISN’T LETTING ME POST THE DAMN RECEIPTS.
I’LL POST THEM ON TWITTER NOW ….. twitter.com/tha_phoenix
@Mari (RIP Dwayne McDuffie)
Took a while because TGJ wouldn’t let me post the links. Had to keep re-posting. And I have nothing but love for Rih. Nothing but love – and I’m sure some of your fellow stans can attest to this.
In addition, excuse me for taking Forbes’ word over that of your frankly rather questionable source.
*sips Martini and turns page in The Times*
😀
Hmm . . . interesting. I’m posting a link from a Forbes article right now
http://blogs.forbes.com/zackomalleygreenburg/2011/03/09/the-forbes-five-hip-hop-wealthiest-artists/
I’m not on Twitter. Still waiting for your receipts . . .
That article I posted makes no mention of Rihanna
@Mari
Just hit up the account I showed above. For whatever reason, TGJ is refusing to post any comment that includes the links I provided.
BTW, I said an article which discussed the Forbes WRL included Rih’s name at the bottom – probably because of her being on Jay’s label (and him being 2nd on their list). The receipts I posted on my twitter include an article that was posted just yesterday.
🙂
@Tha Phoenix
None of those links are from Forbes. There from second hand sources.
@Mari
Sources that used Forbes as their source. They were simply write-ups of Forbes’ article. They are also reputable sources; lists that have no bias and no affiliation with any of the named artists.
That’s why I included them. They’re receipts to prove that what I was saying is (according to Forbes) valid. I wasn’t throwing shade – I don’t do that. I was replying to someone who wrote above that Rih is worth over $100 million.
*sips*
First of all . . .
This link you post to Rich Jullian. com is just somebody’s blog. So, don’t even. Not to mention that it’s completely suspect. It’s dated 2010, and Bieber’s not even on the list.
Second of all, the “Business Review Europe” article makes no mention of Forbes magazine . . . at all. If the article is supposedly citing Forbes, than why are there no links to Forbes in the article? Where is article of your’s from Forbes that says that Rihanna is worth 25M. The article you posted says “Rihanna is reported to be worth OVER 25M.” It never says who reported that figure.
Whatever hun. Post some real receipts from FORBES or linking to a FORBES article written in 2011 that says that give Rihanna’s net worth, or sit down
@ Mari
Reading that link Rihanna worth $65 million, Justin Bieber is also worth $65 million and he has only been in the game for one year.
*or AN ARTICLE linking to a Forbes article . . .”
@Blue kid
I’m not surprised at that. Bieber has his name on a lot more merchandise than Rihanna
Bieber also has his own documentary/movie that’s grossing tens of millions
Bieber also headlined large scale tours from the gate. Rihanna’s first, grand scale, world tour was last year. Celebrity net worth says Miley’s worth over 100M, while Raven’s only worth about 45M. Both had successful Disney channel shows, but Miley has her face on more stuff, her albums sell, her tour dates sell out, and she’s in movies. The same could be said of Bieber (sans the hit tv show)
@Mari
Still trying to find the article I read a few days ago. Can’t remember the name of the website, and – as there are many recent articles talking about Forbes WRL – it’s difficult.
Will post as soon as I find it. Also, attempting to tell me to sit down will not change the truth. I already said that I was surprised that Rih wasn’t worth more. However, I have yet to see any reliable source saying she is worth anything other than $25 million. Some have gone as far to say she’s worth anything up to $30 million, but that’s the highest number I’ve seen in relation to her and the aforementioned sources.
@Blue Kid
Right? In addition, it would be safe to assume that – as one of the sources I provided made use of Forbes’ numbers/stats – that they continued on to do so with Rih. Am I surprised that she’s only reportedly worth that much? Yes – considering her chart success. However, when one really thinks about it; many of her hits don’t include her name in the writing credits and her tour LGOE didn’t gross enough to give her a truly significant payday. That means she makes most of her money from singing – and, as everyone knows, that alone doesn’t make that much money. It also explains why she has yet to feature on a Forbes 100 list – and Jennifer Love Hewitt even made the list with only $6.5 million. It leads one to question just how much she’s really making.
And it also makes me think that she needs to start adding her name to more writing/production credits and attain even more endorsement deals. Perhaps with the success of the LOUD tour, she’ll feature on the 2012 list.
http://www.forbes.com/lists/2010/53/celeb-100-10_The-Celebrity-100.html
Just in case anyone wanted proof that she’s not on this list.
Raven Symone is reportedly worth about $400 million – and that was two years ago. That’s So Raven merchandise grossed over $500 million – and her production company helped produce the show.
There’s no way in Hell JB has over $60 million – especially when he didn’t feature on Forbes 100 this year either. However, it is possible that he could feature on the 2012 list – as Forbes themselves said. He was also included on the 11 Most T*** Celebrity Entrepeneurs but they made no mention of his wealth.
@ Tha Pheonix
Barbados is not a third world country. Please get your information correct. Thanks!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the article and photos. I agree with her on so many points. I honestly cant believe ppl are still saying that the newpaper headlines scrolling across the screen in S&M are entries in here diary/things she calls herself. How stupid can you be? Common sense beats education but clearly common sense ain too common!
@ Tha Phoenix
I’m not doubting you at all especially knowing that it was only 2008 when it was said she only had 25 thousand to her name. Rihanna is in a 360 contract meaning that her handlers are over her money and the use of her money to do what every is possible to keep her out their including buy a spot on the cover of vogue and some pages with in the book. Money speaks, the bad thing about a 360 at the end of the day when the contract is over you end up like Tony Braxton.
@Baje
I apologise – I meant to say a relatively poor country (in relation to countries such as the US and UK where most successful artists come from). No offence meant by it. 🙂
@Blue Kid
Exactly. Like I said, I was truly surprised at first – I thought; ‘How in GOD’s name can Rih only be worth $25 million after six successful years in the industry?’. Then I thought it through. As I said, I’m sure she’ll be on next year’s list – especially after the success of LOUD and its tour.
Before I go, just wanted to add that I find it very strange – and almost disrespectful – that Rolling Stone has yet to give Rihanna a cover, yet they’ve dished one out to Snooki.
I love Snooki, but come on. Four time Grammy award winner with multiple world wide hits, a sellout British tour, sold 20 million albums and you give a reality star an RS cover over her?
And they gave Katy Perry one as well. I like Katy, but let’s face facts. Rih has been far more successful than her over a longer period of time. In all honesty, they should have given her a cover back in 2007 after the success of Umbrella.
Regardless, I love the Vogue shoot (as I mentioned earlier).
@ Tha Phoenix
I don’t know in Australia, they have been giving tickets away and have been selling two for one. Rihanna “Loud Tour” is know more different than her Rate R Tour, only one differences she has more song that hit the top 10 on this album , I’m looking for Lady GaGa to rule the billboard this year right along with Beyonce.
I think Chris Brown second album this year will be his best album, I think he saved the best for last.
@Tha Phoenix
I’m sorry, but you deserved that. You come in here talking about how just last week, Forbes said this, that, and the other, then when asked to produce receipts to prove your point, you can’t, at all. I even post a link to a Forbes article referencing the “world’s richest rappers” meme, where you said Forbes supposedly posted info about Rihanna’s net worth, but that article makes no mention of Rihanna, at all. Then when others post receipts from other sources, you claim that those sources are invalid because they’re not from Forbes, swearing up and down that you have the true tea and real receipts from Forbes, but you don’t have any real receipts from Forbes, at all. Then, if that weren’t bad enough, one of the articles you link to doesn’t even mention Forbes, at all, and the other is someone’s random blog post. And you’re talking about sipping tea. Fake tea.
Raven is not worth 400M dollars, and she only produced some, not the majority of the episodes. Check IMDB. Better yet, I’ll post a receipt
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0712368/#Producer
The Cheetah Girls and That’s so Raven Brands are worth 400M . . . to Disney because Disney owns those brands. Since Forbes is the be all end all with you, then wouldn’t Raven would be on Forbes list if she were grossing the type of dough that would make her worth 400M? Raven being worth 400M is the biggest urban legend . . . Hannah Montanna franchise is worth 1B to Disney, but Miley isn’t a billionaire.
oh and here’s the receipt about Hannah Montana franchise net worth
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/24293946/ns/today-entertainment/
Tha Phoenix
How much have you earned in 5 years?
And stop comparing her to Americans/Canadians who had all the resources provided for them to grow up to be the stars they are today.
Rihanna’s achievements are amazing no matter how hard you try to demean them. Barbados may be a third world country…(I prefer the term developing country) but that only makes her story even more incredible. She didn’t grow up rich like Beyonce with driven stage parents, she wasn’t appearing in a top rated show aged 3 like Raven..no she was playing mother to her younger brothers while her own mother worked and her father strung out on drugs. She was selling stuff outside from a car boot. etc
Rihanna’s legacy is a lot more important than dollars. The sheer determination that little black girl showed when she left that Island in order to become the world class superstar she is today is what has cemented her stay in iconic POP history. Her ‘s is a Legend’s story.
So whether it be $125 or 25 million, we are still talking about a black girl who had nothing when she came to America alone as a 16 year old and that story alone is worth more than a billion dollars because it will always be told because she is the very first woman from her entire continent to achieve what she has at this stage.
@Mari
That’s why I said REPORTEDLY. Urban myth, perhaps, but the very idea that Raven is worth only about $20 million is laughable. Especially when one takes into consideration the fact that she took a cut of the profits from merchandising. If I were to make an educated guess, myself, I’d say Raven may be worth anything in the region of $40-50 million.
Also, deserved what, exactly? Every point I made I backed up. I also added that the article I was referring to (and still haven’t found yet) was one that discussed the Forbes article. At no point did I say Forbes’ itself had referenced Rihanna in their respective list. That is a conclusion you drew all on your own.
However, just in case you didn’t understand, I will reiterate. I was discussing an article that was reporting the new Forbes’ list. In fact the only reason I even know Rih is only worth about $25 million is because I read the aforementioned article, and that was a couple of days ago.
I’ve stated something, provided proof and given reasons as to why it is likely true. You, however, seem unable to see this. THAT is what confuses me.
Is it truly so hard to believe that Rih is only worth that much? Consider the reasons both I and Blue Kid have given. Consider the fact that she has yet to make a single Forbes Celebrity 100 list; consider the fact that all her biggest hits have been written by other people; consider the fact that she seems to make the majority of her money from singing (which isn’t very lucrative at all without many writing/production credits) and endorsements. Really think it through; don’t just act on stan’s instinct.
NOW tell me that $25 million is completely out of the realm of possibility.
At the most I’d say she’s worth about $35 million – but that’s my personal opinion and I have little to back it up, which is why I haven’t mentioned it previously. As I have also stated REPEATEDLY, I was shocked to discover this. In fact, I read the paragraph through twice just to make sure I was correct the first time. If you’d even asked me as late as last week how much Rih could be worth, I too would have mentioned a number in the $60-80 million range.
@ Blue Kid
ITA about the B and Gaga thing. I too am looking forward to CB doing his thing this year – apparently FAME is his best album to date. I’m waiting to hear the record; 22nd March isn’t too far away now.
😀
@ Cherz
So basically you’re reiterating what I’ve already said. I already said it’s a big accomplishment for someone from her background. That’s why I have a lot of respect for her.
So few have done what she’s done. She has managed to stay relevant while many have fallen by the wayside, and has actually become a bigger and bigger stay in the meanwhile. She has broken records, won numerous awards, scored herself coveted endorsements and recorded some of the best pop songs of the last decade.
I have a lot of love for Rihanna – something which any of my followers on Twitter will attest to. I frequently stand up for her, love the fact that she has shown a lot of improvement performance wise (especially in the last year) and have nothing but respect for her tremendous work ethic.
At no point have I criticised her in any of the above statements. The fact that she is worth $25 million is actually not that relevant. I only posted a comment concerning the subject because someone said she was worth over $100 million, which was so grossly untrue, I fel the need to address it.
That’s all. 🙂
*star not ‘stay’.
SMH.
😀
@Cherz
Thanks, ‘developing country’ was the term I was looking for. 🙂
@ CherZ
Rihanna state when she was on the island she was considered white and was bullied by the rest of the island people. Rihanna accomplishments have been because of JayZ, that man right their could make just about any young girl a “Rihanna”! JayZ has that type of power and pull in the industry. Rihanna did not make any of them accomplishments on her own and it had little to do with her talent, but a lot to do with, that’s what JayZ was liking and into at the time.
Rihanna herself stated Barbados is not an easy island to get off of especially when you are uneducated, meaning she does not have the best education, knowing all what we know of Rihanna, her biggest blessing was meeting JayZ and the rest is history.
@Tha Phoenix
Ok..I understand where you are coming from now. However personally I think she is worth a lot more that $25 million especially when you take her assets such as property into consideration and the fact that she has writing credits on quite a few of her songs and also an executive producer for her albums and creative and art director for her tours. Plus she has a shitload of endorsements.
Besides Forbes only knows what is told to them. They do not have access to Rihanna’s bank account or any of the contracts she signed to determine what she is really worth. i.e. For years Forbes claimed that Oprah was the richest black person on earth with $2bn up until a couple of years ago when several Africans decided to make their wealth public. As it turns out Oprah is the richest black woman but the richest black person is worth over $13bn and lives in Nigeria.
That being said, just because someone writes your hits it doesn’t automatically mean you are not making any money. It all depends on the contract they signed. Superstars like Diana Ross and Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey are extremely wealthy despite never writing any of their big hits. Pluse, not everyone has a Daddy like Matthew Knowles who bullies up and coming songwriters to ensure that their child is credited first on any song she sings so that they can take 20% of the cut.
@Blue Kid
If anyone can accomplish anything with the support of Jay Z, then how comes it didn’t work out for Tierra Mari?
The teasing in Barbados happened at school and was never that serious . Rihanna was never considered white. Rihanna’s is very close to her black dark skin mother who she adores and the rest of her black dark skin relatives on her mother’s side. Her best friends are black dark skin ladies. But what has this got to do with this conversation?
@Blue Kid
Rihanna graduated from High School and went on to the Cadets before leaving for America aged 16. I understand that she went to one of the best schools on the Island.
@Cherz
Just to correct you on the Mariah thing; with the exception of covers (Against All Odds, Without You), she has written all her biggest hits and ALL the original songs on EVERY one of her albums has been written (and often co-produced) by her. 🙂

Whitney Houston made that much money because her albums sold S*** loads. Far more than any artist can realistically expect to sell these days.
I can completely see your point. It’s fair to say she may be worth anything up to $40 million – but that’s at most, IMO. Writing credits on album songs will only get you so much if the album doesn’t sell a considerable amount ww (and by that I mean 7-10 mill ww). For singing on a track, you only get about 6-9% (depending on the royalty rate given in the contract) of the money it makes. That’s why Rih has to start pushing to get the songs she DOES have credits on released as singles.
The LOUD tour should see an increase in her net worth, though. And, due to this and the high sales of LOUD, we should also see her on the Forbes Celebrity 100 come next year.

@Tha Phoenix
My bad @Mariah. But then you still have the likes of Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin..even the late great Michael Jackson had some of his hits written for him. Some people around these parts make it seems like singing on a record doesn’t earn a thing when in reality it all depends on the contract they signed. Until we know what the nature of Rihanna’s record contract entails it is all speculation and I speculate that the figure is at least close to the $100mill region.
Her vevo channel on Youtube alone is worth around $25million…that is 1000 views = $2.50 from advertising and she is already over the billion viewer mark.
@Cherz
The thing about Diana Ross and co. is that they were selling records at a time when it was easy to shift above 10 mill – hence why they made so much money just from singing.
The Vevo thing is all well and good – but you have to remember that the royalty rate comes back into it. Depending on her contract, she may only make about 5% from that. In some cases, it’s even less.
MJ wrote almost all his songs with the exception of few. He also co-produced almost all of them, his tours made ridiculous amounts of money and his albums – as we all know – sold more than anyone else’s.
With the exception of Thriller & Man In The Mirror, MJ wrote and helped produce all his biggest hits. 🙂
In addition, unless she’s had her contract changed, the contract may not be much to shout about. As a new artist without a reality show to back her, Rih’s contract wouldn’t be up to much. I’d be surprised if she’s entitled to more than 7% royalties (for singing) for a track on which she has no other credits.
If I were her, as soon as the LOUD era is up, I would re-negotiate my contract a la Lady Gaga. Increase the royalty rate etc.
Tha Phoenix
You can speculate all you want but the truth is you don’t know. Jay Z signed Rihanna when there were other companies interested in her when they heard ‘pon de reply’ but he presented her with the best lucrative deal. Jay Z has also gone on record to say that he has never stolen from any artist or signed them to a bum deal.
A good number of Michael’s hits were written by Rod Temperton and produced by Quincey Jones. These were on his best albums ‘Off the wall’ and ‘Thriller’.
@ Chez
Rihanna is JayZ girl, he made sure she got the hype that she needed, you got to realize that T.I and most of the rappers come threw Def Jam. Rihanna was on Kanye, JayZ, Emiem and most major acts album, only Rihanna got that privilege, but most of all that chriana night set her career off, the pitiful Rihanna, was than a star bigger than life.
You cannot compare MJ with Rihanna, because MJ gave the performance of a life time, there is nothing that come close to MJ stage performance, nothing.
@Cherz
That’s what I keep saying – it’s pure speculation on my part. However, again, the standard royalty rate for singers (whose sole credit on the song is a vocal one) is in the region of 6-9%.
Beat It and Billie Jean were written solely by Michael – and those were two of MJ’s biggest hits and two of his most acclaimed to date.
And IMO Bad and Dangerous were musically better than Thriller and OTW overall. 😀
If Rihanna did not have the X factor no matter how much Jay Z pushed her she would not be as big as she is… Although hse is not a great singer the emotion in her voice is very moving and her voice is distinctive… I cant rememebr what Tierra Mari or Cerror voices but rihanna’s for sure…
Rihanna must be commended and celebrated for making it this far.
Why must people keep hating
California King Bed is the next single…. Yeah X4

On every one of those album that Quincy Jones and Rob Templeton produce and wrote on, MJ also had a number one hit that he wrote and produced. It make a big different when you also get writers and singer and producer, royalties on a hit album, which MJ did.
@ SWEXY
The X factor is money and Chrianna, nothing more! The put Rihanna first album twice before it sold with any count. Nicki Minaj first real album out sold her 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, album.
@ Tha Phoenix
I do agree with everything you are saying.

That was my main point. When you write almost all your biggest hits, that means you get more money than if you were just to sing them like Rihanna.

For a Chris Brown fan you spend so much time pulling down Rihanna when u could be out there buying up CB records and stroking his mega ego….
Rihanna is a superstar Point Blank Period whether you like it or not and no amount of bellyaching is going to change that. The Cover of Vogue ( Rihanna) is not the same as the cover of vibe ( CB) or a feature in www. criminalsthatgotoffeasy.com
so keep moving git git
25 million 40 million 100 million … I don’t know nor do I care… the fact remains that she is making money which I hope she invests wisely since fame is fickle…
But for right now she is doing very well and I hope she renegotiates the contract , keeps the great management team around her and keep looking to grow and grow …
We love you Rihanna
This is the first time that I can say wow, Rihanna is so beautiful when looking at the first pic but you want to know something… LOL I aint no fool and I can clearly see that they airbrushed the hell out of her nose and eyes! Rihanna has a very wide frog nose and big alien shaped eyes! Rihanna is ugly and always will be, especially without 10 pounds of makeup. The rest of the pics are so generic and boring. She’s not very photogenic. She has so much airbrushed and retouching to help her photos look much better than they are.
NO-LA GTFOH… go git yo eyes checked you heffer!
Hating wont get CB to sell records biatch
THIS GIRL IS A HOT MESS!
Beautiful spread, but I’ve seen BETTER pic of Ri!
LMAO @ Cherz, trying to make it seem like she’s worked harder than Beyoncé because she had a tougher background.
B****, Rihanna got spotted on a beach by a producer, was flown out to NYC to audition for Jay, and the rest is history. No years were spent toiling in obscurity, working her b*** off to better herself as an artist and experiencing letdowns and failures before finally tasting success. And I’m sorry, but having a rough childhood in a developing country doesn’t count. Her career didn’t start there.
Beyoncé spent years training in order to be ready for the big time. She didn’t just randomly show up to some record label exec’s office with zero vocal and performance skills and get bestowed a deal based solely on her marketability. She’s worked hard, she’s made sacrifices, she has experienced letdowns. And her father helping her doesn’t negate any of that, because he made sacrifices for his daughter, too. Gave up his high-paying job, and damn near gave up his marriage just to help make his child’s dream come true. He’s no Berry Gordy or anyone famous and powerful, so don’t even try to make it seem like nepotism is what got Beyoncé to where she is.
“Rihanna’s legacy is a lot more important
than dollars. The sheer determination that
little black girl showed when she left that
Island in order to become the world class
superstar she is today is what has
cemented her stay in iconic POP history.
Her’s is a Legend’s story.”
ROFLMAOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! You seriously believe all that s*** you just wrote?!? “World class superstar”? Cementing herself in “iconic pop history”? Calling her a LEGEND???
Girl, whatever it is that you’re smoking, you had better STOP IT! The only thing she’ll likely become “iconic” for (largely assuming that will EVER happen) is her clothes, and perhaps her most popular singles. But if you seriously think that she’ll be iconic on a Michael Jackson/Madonna/Prince level, then child…
Fact remains Beyonce was being groomed from very young… Rihanna was given a chance and made the most of it
@ True Blue, great point – give credit where it’s due. Beyonce always did the work necessary to get to where she is. Having driven parents that are supportive of your career don’t mean that you have the world handed to you if you just sit and look pretty. That took dedication, practice and perseverance! Bey’s had to face and overcome alot of her obstacles and rejection.
@ Phoneix – I too have a hard time believing that Rihanna earned 100 -125M. Most of her 5 albums barely sold platnium. She doesn’t produce nor does she write and she just started getting endorsements(thanks to Jay Z). I don’t see how she has earned even 65, but that would be the cap for me. It’s logical to estimate her at 25M. I’d have to see some real proof from reliable sources to believe otherwise.

@Tha Phoenix and Blue Kid
Hey I wasn’t comparing Rihanna to MJ or the others I mentioned as all are entirely different artists with their own unique styles. A lot of people are under the impression that if you don’t write or produce your album then you must be earning minimal wage and the only reason I brought up those artists was show examples of how one doesn’t always have to have a hand in the writing and production of a song to earn big bucks. Yes I understand that some people do get duped when they sign their contracts but that isn’t always the case and one shouldn’t assume that it is that way with Rihanna.
Case in point. Berry Gordy signed up most of the artists on the motown rota to dodgy contracts including the Jackson 5 and the Supremes. In fact Diana Ross said that when she finally left motown she was flat broke. When she signed her following contract she was more aware of certain things and she made sure she got a better cut of her profits…despite not writing and producing. I am sure people like Aretha and other notable artists who are not songwriters out there sign up to better contracts too.
Another factor to take into consideration is that Rihanna signed with JayZ who already had his own money and not some broke record executive who would be looking out for his own bank first. I believe Jay did Rihanna right as I don’t think he thought she would hit it this big anyway. For him it was all about Tierra.
@BlueKid
Please. JayZ pimped Tierra Mari’s career to death and still he couldn’t get her a hit record. He wasn’t even paying much attention to little ‘pon de replay’ Rihanna and you can tell that from the budget spent on each girl’s first videos back then. However it is Rihanna had the global appeal that made her chart all over the world on the pop charts while Tierra fell by the wayside. If what you really believe what you are saying then how comes the JayZ factor didn’t work for Tierra despite him pimping her career to death…literally?
@TrueBlue
Please. Beyonce has gone on record saying her parents didn’t use her to get out of a ‘bad situation like the Jacksons’. She basically said that she was brought up well in a good home and did not go without. Her life was that of a pageant Queen…in short she is a trained poodle and that is the reason why she hardy shows any personality in public and is afraid to go on twitter to liaise with her fans because she lacks basic personal skills to do so.
Worked hard?
Maybe but this is a woman who used, abused and trod on the careers of her childhood friends to get where she is today. Had Beyonce started off as a solo act would she be where she is today? Uh no! Beyonce never had the best voice in Destiny’s child yet she was the one that always got to sing the best parts in the songs. Whenever the girl’s attended televised events, Tina would always make sure her baby was the best dressed and had the best hair while the other girls would look like they were dressed in scraps of material left over from Beyonce’s dress. Destiny’s Child was purely a vehicle for Beyonce to shine and the Knowles family purposely used and abused those girls to make Beyonce’s dream happen. Kelly only had enough sense to leave Matthew’s management a year ago but I unfortunately I think it is too late for her now. We’ll see. Not really checking for her either.
That is just the tip of the iceberg. Today Beyonce is so unsure of her so called talent that she unashamedly takes credit for song she has had not written or conceived and this is the reason why she will never be known as one of the greats because the story of how she got where she is today plus her notorious reputation as song thief will forever be a blemish on legacy.
The late great MJ and Whitney Houston never felt the need to s*** on songwriters like that so why Beyonce feels she has to do the same is a concern but karma is real.
Besides Beyonce’s story is boring and has been seen before with Diana Ross and the Supremes. I can’t see anyone lining up to see ‘The Beyonce Story’ biopic at the movies and if you are honest with yourself you would agree. Rihanna’s story is the most unique and interesting, the story of a global Pop Icon, the like of which has never been seen before in the music world. Her’s is the story to watch and that is the reason why you and all the other haters are in here and every other Rihanna thread dragging her because you can’t get enough . So there!
IM NOT EVEN A LESBIAN BUT RIHANNA MAKE ME WANNA………. LET ME STOP. I LOVE THIS CHIC WHOS TO FIERCE
^^^ If believing in those delusions help you sleep at night, fine then.
^^^ @Cherz.
@ Cherz, wow you are saying a mouthful. I’d definitely love to have this conversation with you in person or in a small group. I can’t even type everything that I’d like to comment on, because I’d run on for too long here. I’m just curious to know if you think the way you do because your not a fan – or because your being honest. I don’t know about Bey’s upbringing so I can’t label her anything. That’s not my call and I couldn’t dispute what your saying. What I can say judging by the woman she’s grown into is that her parents must be proud and they must have taught her some valuable lessons that were instilled in her. Bey’s constantly insulted and treated like s***! She never speaks out to defend herself and bash anyone. She’s not loud or vulgar. She’s polite and respectful, many of the legends praise her(as well as her peers). She gracious and considerate, when she invited Taylor Swift on stage after winning her MTV award(after the Kanye outburst) it really showed that she has character.
I think she was the standout in DC because she was the one with the talent. She’s gone solo since ’03 and became the artist of the last decade. If it was all because a group made her stand out in comparison to other members that didn’t get a chance to shine – how do you explain Bey being given that honor? Letoya had solo success, but Kelly never did and she’s released several albums before this upcoming project. Bey wasn’t around to steal the spotlight.
The stealing songs accusations… That’s all they are and ever have been!
Now, I do give you credit for the Rihanna story possibly being stronger in a sense. She did come to unfamilar territory. Still just like you spoke of Bey’s parents spoiling her, Rihanna has been under Jay Z’s special care. Her label backs her 100% and took the time to make her a house hold name. It didn’t happen right away and it’s obvious that it took some effort. She was releasing multiple albums immediately after the last(inside the same year) to get her established. GGGB was her first (and only) multi platnium album, which finally made her the star that she is. I’m not dwelling on this to bring Rihanna down, I’m just pointing out that by comparison – Bey has had a bigger following. That makes me believe that if both stories were well done… Beyonce’s would be the more anticipated story. She’s actually very private and that makes her more mysterious. With Rihanna, there is a lot we already have seen! … The most interesting detail of her life story (that we’re not aware of) would probably be Grammy night.

*STANDING OVATION*
Facts are facts; Beyonce is far more talented than Rihanna will ever be. She sings better, she dances better and she performs better. That isn’t opinion; that’s fact.
Next, as you said, she has the recognition from legends, peers, the media and the general public. People think of her as a woman of class and good upbringing. She’s guarded because she’s seen what being too honest and up front with the media can do to celebrities and their personal lives. She chooses – wisely in my opinion – not to discuss her personal life and maintain her privacy. That’s something to be commended not dragged down.
She is someone to look up to; if only for the manner in which she carries herself.
In addition, I thank God for the fact that now people can see for themselves that Kelly’s lack of solo career isn’t down to B. How does anyone explain the utter lack of motivation Kelly appears to possess? She had all of 2010 to come out and slay (like her stans so often say); we were all rooting for her and she did nothing. Instead we got single after single, pushback after pushback, excuse after excuse. And since she’s no longer musically affiliated with Columbia or Matthew Knowles, how do you explain it? It’s simply down to the fact that she doesn’t possess the work ethic B does.
Beyonce has worked harder than almost any other artist for the last eight years to cement her place in pop history. I feel that one day she will be a legend. We haven’t seen a performer like her in almost two decades (legends aside). She’s one of the best singers in the game, was named the female artist of the decade by several reputable sources and is frequently hailed as the best performer of our generation.
For all these reasons – and more – I’m proud to stan for her. And I eagerly await Round IV.
*hands you a Martini and The Times*
Who’s gunning for Bey? I don’t care to read the comments!
I think people make too many assumptions about Rihanna. You don’t know the details of her contract, so you don’t know how much she makes off her songs. You don’t have access to her personal bank account, private contracts, or the details of her endorsements so her not being a top earner proves nothing. Yes, Beyonce is more talented, but Rihanna is more interesting. At least take off your stan cap and admit that. Rihanna was never pushed to be anything more than the little cute island girl, while Beyonce has been raised, groomed, and perfected into being an entertainer since she was a child. Of course Beyonce would be the better performer. Rihanna didn’t get any real vocal training until she recorded Good Girl Gone Bad (at age 19). Madonna wasn’t the best singer or dancer, but she still made the biggest impact on pop culture of any of her more talented contemporaries. Rihanna is 23, she has PLENTY of time to improve. And thefact that she is doing such a massive arena worldwide tour for ‘Loud’ should tell people something. If she’s only 23, continuously improving and can accomplish THIS MUCH and draw out crowds this larger, what level will she be at when she reaches her full potential? Beyonce is the more successful star, but let’s not act like Rihanna can’t see her in any way. GGGB established her as a pop force. Rated R established her artistic integrity and musical versatility, now LOUD is cementing her place in the industry as a pop icon.
@ Phoenix – ditto! I am happy to stan for her too. It’s rare to like someone so much as an artist and a person. Round IV is a top priority for me! Period!
