Toni Braxton: “I’m Considering Retiring”

Published: Tuesday 12th Apr 2011 by Sam

It’s been a difficult few years for Toni Braxton. Indeed, the last 18 months most especially have seen the singer’s profile characterised by divorce, bankruptcy, and so-so record sales.

While promoting her new reality show ‘Braxton Family Values’ on BET’s 106 & Park yesterday, the 43 year old revealed that she’s mulling over whether to leave the industry drama behind and focus on motherhood.

Check out the footage below…

No comprende…

Ms. Braxton remains one of the few divas who is still as good today as she ever was. What’s more, in the unfortunately image-focal industry called showbiz, Toni also still looks great.

While it’s easier said than done to suggest she simply hit the studio and make another album (see: label and legal drama), I sure hope the stars align to make that happen. (‘Pulse’s) ‘Hands Tied’, ‘Make My Heart’, and the whole damn ‘Libra’ CD still go hard.

  2. Kengy April 12, 2011

    who even cares?
People are enjoying S&M Remix Rihanna feat. Britney Spears. A SMASH HIT!

  3. JohnVidal April 12, 2011

    @Kengy
    You are retarded!
By the age Toni has now, Rihanna and Britney will be dissapeared. Not to mention Toni has talent and those two have exactly zero

  4. nazhene April 12, 2011

i don’t blame her cause al those talentless people gets on the charts these days. Music business is not the same, it sucks

  5. FUSION April 12, 2011

Yea, Toni is quality, from head to toe. Totally agree that its such a waste if she retires. She looks amazing and still sounds great. Libra was an excellent album. However, her last album was all over the place. I think with the right material, and more importantly, the right management, she could be successful again. I don’t know who has been looking after her interests in recent years, but Toni Braxton should not be a reality TV star. She is a genuine legend from the 90s and is better than DWTS and Braxton family values. Maybe its time to think of an alternative marketing strategy and team behind her – assuming she has a team of people.

I don’t think I can take anymore great artist leaving the music scene! I’m suffering enough when I don’t get to hear the 8 or 9 I’m into out of the 10,000 artist out. Drake, please bring my girl Toni back! That would be a great producer for her (I can see Toni singing Alicia’s “Unthinkable”).

Toni is a true talent! For me she’s as big as Mariah or Whitney. She probably just need a pause and come back stronger with a new album.

  14. Teflon Boy April 12, 2011

@Royalkev…, her voice on Unthinkable would have sounded amazing!

go get motivation by kelly rowland on itunes..now.!!!!.GO GO GO

  16. nate April 12, 2011

Toni is the oldest, but looks the best! I don’t understand her retiring, she just needs to find her audience again.. Her issue is that she wants to be a rnb pop star again and that’s never going to happen, she needs to play to her rnb crowd. I think this show ultimately will be a good decision to perk up interests in Toni again, then release some good old Rnb again. Libra was brilliant, but they didn’t release the right songs.

    @luv music

bliv i want to get motivation so bad but i live in ireland, see my dilemma?

  18. luv music April 12, 2011

Motivation breaks into the top 10 at #10 on US iTunes R&B/Soul Chart.

People forget. Toni has been blacklisted every since she went bankrupt as an artist on LaFace Records.

  20. megan April 12, 2011

    Can she afford to retire?

  21. MISHKA April 12, 2011

She may be too old to expect the exposure she had during the 90’s but she still is a critical acclaimed artist. She should be performing on fancy VIP galas like most of the divas do , instead of exposing her dirty laundry on TV.

I know she’s broke but she should know she deserves better than being just another Nene Leakes. Just sayin’

  22. tru T April 12, 2011

such talent going to waste, shame. these are the same people some of us grew up listening to and gave music back then tru meaning, not these bubble gum songs out nowdays. i so much feel for her amd wish her happiness and success.

I really feel happy for my friend Jessie. 😛 😛 😛

She found her perfect lover in ~~ Lo ve Wealt hy * c/0 m~~ She says he is a successful entrepreneurs: mature, gentle, responsible and knowledgeable. She still can’t believe it is true and can’t find any words to describe how wonderful her new life is.

She thanks ~~ Lo ve Wealt hy * c//0 m~~ very much.
And want to recommend it to all of you!!

  30. SWEXY April 12, 2011

She is very talented I love her old stuff… but the fake nose fake b****** and fffking inability to manage her money makes her look pretty pathetic right now. She has enough great songs to live on if she just learns to not overspend

  31. Kingdom April 12, 2011

I love Toni Braxton. Like the article said, she STILL looks and SOUNDS perfect. She still has it. I would hate to see her retire from doing music. I think she just needs to head back to the lab and cook up another amazing album like LIBRA and come back to us.

  32. TaTa April 12, 2011

Toni looks odd, her teeth? What happened.

  33. Robier April 12, 2011

Toni U made history and ur music is still discussed 15 yrs later and now music is old and forgotten after 2 yrs.

  34. Sheltop April 12, 2011

Toni please don’t go!!! your musical abilty and voice is priceless. I say get back in that studio and Give me another ‘SECRETS’ esq album.. like really dig deep, pick up that pen and paper and turn ya feelings into lyrics i know theres alot on your mind.. Fire the team you got now and get with a team thats really gonna want you to successed. Toni Braxton should be performing at the Grammy Awards and Major award shows. Then Hit us with and intimate tour(ex: smaller venues something like what janet is doing) and get back on the Top of R&B.. ever since the split from Laface it’s been hard for toni. Even they did her durty not paying her properly and stealing money from her… LIVE, LEARN AND COME BACK HARD MR. BRAXTON.

  35. Dallas Champ April 12, 2011

sorry but Libra tanked on record sales and no hit single.
    Hang it up! Flat screen!!

  36. raraskils April 12, 2011

she’s talented but the truth is, she’s got other things to concentrate her energy on at this point in her life. she’s raising kids, one of whom is autistic, she has heart problems, marital problems, she needs to focus on her own life more now. You gotta remember that making music costs a lot of money. It is very financially draining, especially when your label isn’t behind you 100%, and you gotta pay for most things out of your own pocket. She’s should quit now while she’s got a lot of money to fall back on.

Her talent will be greatly missed, but i will always have her old stuff to rock to!!!! <3

  37. theman April 13, 2011

Toni’s last album was great, it just didn’t receive the attention that it deserved, meanwhile “Libra” struck gold, and it didn’t really have any hit singles on it. If she gets some hot producers, and stick to her r&b roots, with pop undertones, she could do great things. She is an amazing artist.

  38. theman April 13, 2011

    She is also qyuite beautiful.

  39. Orville April 30, 2011

I think the problem Toni is having is she is trying to appeal to a YOUNG market and that`s the wrong way to go! Most of Toni`s fans are in their 30s and beyond. There is a generational gap. Most of Toni Braxton`s fans remember her from her 1990s early 200s sucess. Now Toni is trying to sell to the younger crowd with hip hop beats and it is NOT working. The smart move for Toni is to get back to an adult contemporary sound and stop trying to appeal to the 21 year olds.

  40. Butch July 4, 2011

    Exactly…Toni needs to keep it grown & s*** 40 plus club…
