Beyonce‘s ‘4‘ sits comfortably at #5 with around 70,000 units sold in the last seven days alone, most likely attributed to the positive reaction latest single ‘Best Thing I Never Had‘ has received.
Lady GaGa‘s ‘Born This Way‘ is this weeks #13 with 24,058 copies sold and not far behind at #24 is Katy Perry‘s ‘Teenage Dream’ which a 17% decrease in sales within the last week.
On the singles front, Nicki Minaj‘s ‘SuperBass‘ is #5 which is one place behind Adele’s ‘Rolling In The Deep’ which resides one spot beneath ‘Last Friday Night‘ by Katy Perry.

Her 310K first week U.S. sales debut is the third biggest debut of the year so far (500K+ WW) and larger than many competitive artists like Britney or Rihanna or Katy. Anyway, Adele is only on her second album and is doing great right now. But considering that Bey is no longer the new girl in town, she is still holding her own and continues to prove that she has longevity and consistency. Beys fans know that ‘4’ has many hits to come that will assures the albums continued success regardless of Adele’s current success also.

You’re a single artist when your singles have better perfomance than your album. If your singles sell 10 million and your album struggled to be Platinum, it shows that you’re a single artist. And that’s the case of Katy Perry.
She barely sold 1.5 million in US, and she had a huge support from radios, a big promo, and successful singles. TD’s sales don’t match with the huge success that Katy’s had.

i understand what your saying. Selling a million in month is better than selling a million in a year. But it doesnt really matter if both albums peak at a million.
Lets say Beyonce releases an album and it sells 50k world wide for a week. But it sells 50k every week for the next 3 years. It would peake at 7.8million. She releases another album and sells 500k its first week, but declines for the next couple of weeks. By the end of 2 years, its sold 7.8million. Even though one sold more faster they both peaked with the same numbers. I guess what Im trying to say is that 1st week, month, and even year sales dont really matter. Its all about the amount the album peaks out.
Promo does cost money but you also earn alot of money from it. Katy placed #4 on Forbes top earning under 30 list with 44.5million. Most of that money came from the heavy promo she did for TD.
I feel that this End Of Time video is going to have a very african feeling to it !!!!!!!!!!!

IMO, a singles artist is someone who can only sell singles. Flo Rida, Pitbull, Far East Movement, Taio Cruz, etc cant sell albums or concerts or anything else. Katy Perry can sell singles and she can also sell concert tickets. Her album sells are acceptable ww. She may have 4 #1s in the U.S but shes not that big everywhere else like GaGa, Rihanna, and Beyonce. Shes still establishing herself as a world wide name.
An artist does not have to accomplish every single thing that Beyonce has to be considered better than her or as great as she is. Allison Krauss has sold less albums than Beyonce but has 26 grammies to Beyonce’s 16, and Aretha Franklin who has not sold as many albums as Beyonce has 18 grammies to Beyonce’s 16, yet she’s considered to be the Queen of Soul. Alicia Keys who has sold less albums than Beyonce has won 14 grammies. She’s not too far behind Beyonce. Michael Jackson, the King of Pop has actually won less grammies than Beyonce but no one can deny the impact he’s left on the world and the music industry. He’s a legend. Taylor Swift sold 1 million her first week, but because she doesn’t have 16 grammies, that makes her less than Beyonce? No. Some artists will do better than Beyonce and Beyonce may do better than others in other areas. But that doesn’t make them less than her. Back in the day they use to compare Michael to Prince and say that Michael was better than Prince….but who’s still here? Not to be mean, but keeping it real.

’4′ sold a pathetic 72k copies this week, falling by a staggering 37% to #5 on the chart and bringing its total sales to 498k after only 3 weeks. In comparison, ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce’ sold 482k in the 1st week.

Beyonce has not sold more albums than Alicia as a soloist. But “4” is not a flop so far. She went gold in a matter of wks. I think many people want it to be a flop because her stans are sometimes annoying. “TGJ” is stupid. They incite thse kind of things. If anyone else had topped the charts they would have said their name alone. Why not credit Blake Shelton for his album being #1. Sam keeps bringing Beyonce up for hits, and comments. See through the foolishness y’all. The stanning is played all the way out. Don’t y’all see that y’all are arguing about the same sh*t everytime. When will some people get over it. Katy will also get her 2x platinum certification. She’s sold about 1.6 million units, and is still selling pretty decently. Congrats to Adele whom is doing incredible, and Beyonce is doing really good for not having a hit single.
For those that keep bringing up “IASF”, those first weeks numbers were huge because it had two huge hit singles. “4” didn’t have that therefore under the circumstances it is doing well. Alot of artist struggle to even get to 500k now. She did that in a very short time span.
Most of these people on this site are obsessed over chart performances. Isn’t it really supposed to be all about the music anyway.

Adele is DOING GRAND things. She is making music that’s been lost for a long time now. Only a 3% sales drop and her CD has been out for 3 months – nobody is doing those kinds of numbers and nobody is making that kind of music. I love it.

He throws her name in things that have nothing to do with her. If you were gonna mention her album, why not mention the rest of the albums in the top 5. It’s absurd.
Katy Perry’s album sales are NOT respectable. Who the hell ever heard of an album that has had 4 #1 hits stalling at 1.5 million in sales. An album with that many hits should be over 4 or 5x platinum in the US and over 10 million worldwide.
She’s a singles artist. People are willing to casually throw out their $.99 to snap up a random single, but aren’t interested in buying her full album…which is odd, considering how many hits she’s had from it. Makes you wonder if people really like the songs much, or radio just tricked them into casually appreciating them.
