American Idol alum Jordin Sparks caused quite the buzz when her song ‘I Am Woman’ made its rounds on the net earlier this summer. And though such buzz has since fizzled, the 21-year-old Arizona native took to Billboard.com to share details on the follow-up to her 2009 release ‘BattleField’ (set to feature collabos with John Legend and a host of top producers).
While Sparks also shared info on her desire to expand her acting portfolio, find out what else the ‘Tattoo’ singer touched on after the jump:

“I’m still working on it and I don’t really want to rush because I want it to be right,”.
“[‘I Am Woman’] was definitely something to give my fans different to chew on, something a little bit edgier with more attitude… I want the music that I put out — and especially after putting out ‘I Am Woman’ — to make sense and be cohesive.”
“I wouldn’t mind guest-starring on a law show or something. I love all the criminal shows, ‘CSI,’ ‘Law & Order,’ and ‘House’ as well, all the medical shows,” says Sparks. “Hopefully I’ll have some time to go to an acting coach and really try and perfect that.”
No official date has been released for the yet-to-be titled album.

she’s lost that momentum she had with her first album. she needs come back with a huge single! I Am Woman was trash and it flopped. Plus everyone was saying it was more of Beyonce’s style..
Jordin got the looks and the voice to hit it big.
She just need to find what is HER lane. ASAP. Edgy or cheesy, who cares, just ‘be’ catchy.
I’m going to need her to stay out of the mirror (she looks great) and stay in the studio. I just learned yesterday that her collab with Chris Brown is the best selling single that an American Idol winner has every had! She needs to recapture that energy in a solo song!
I Am Woman was premiered on American Idol. If you can’t launch a single on one of the top rated shows on TV, the song’s a dud. I’m glad Jordin and TPTB are going back to the drawing board.

Awww…I swear I keep forgetting all about Jordin. She just always slips off my radar. She is such a pretty girl & she does have a good voice, but her music just does nothing for me and she really can’t hold my attention very long. Honestly ‘No Air’ was the only song of her I genuinely liked. It really should have won that Grammy! SMH.
I really want her to do another record with Chris and she has dropped hints that she does too. ‘No Air’ was EPIC, but I don’t want it to be an ‘No Air’ part 2. That would be corny.
Even though I’m not really checking for her I do wish her luck. She is talented and deserves success. Good luck Jordin!

Yeah I noticed that too. Lol! A lot of people do that when their single flops they label it a ‘buzz single’. They ain’t fooling nobody.
I didn’t really like it though and I didn’t think it was going to work for her. It just didn’t fit her. Hopefully she will be able to make an impression with her next single.
She has a good voice and image, but she needs to bring the material. Her songs seem too boring.
