While Kelly Rowland‘s name may still be on many a lip after her show-stopping BET Awards performance, Trey Songz has the honor of having had more than just her name on his. Most recently the ‘Love Faces’ crooner was one of the many R&B stars on the billing for this past weekend’s Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.
In a set that featured some of Trigga’s biggest hits (‘I Invented Sex’, ‘Bottom’s Up’, and the like), the singer also performed his verse on Rowland’s ‘Motivation’ remix.

As usual, Trey Songz moved the crowd with his haunted house vocals. No word if the crowd was motivated to assist the reported increase of earplug purchases in New Orleans over the weekend.

Songz is always bad vocally but here…….smh. This is what is wrong with the industry.
I never liked his voice, it sounds so shaky and unstable, that why his runs sound terrible. Well, my point is…..i always used to say his voice sounded shaky but now thanks to thatgrapejuice (kudos to you sam) for hitting the nail on the head with the ‘haunted house vocals’ comment. it’s the perfect description for his voice, i swear!!!

WTF was going on @ 0.50sec? His singing makes me giggle because he is so serious about it but always sounds like a sheep. His super fast vibrato really should have been corrected early on but it wasn’t. Its VERY pronounced! I love that he seems to stay on his grind but he needs to slow that vibrato down and recognize hitting falsetto notes doesn’t mean you can really ” sing”.
But he is a cutie so fans don’t care about anything I just wrote. At all.
He’s a good looking guy, but he needs to find his voice. It’s all over the place. He should stick to singing low. When he tries to go high I cringe.

I will agree he does try too hard at times when he sings but he is a good singer.
