New Video: Nicole Scherzinger – ‘Try With Me’

Published: Tuesday 18th Oct 2011 by Sam

Nicole Scherzinger today sprung quite the surprise on her fans. For not only did the Pop vixen debut her latest single ‘Try With Me’ – she brought with it its accompanying video!

Penned by the Nervo Twins and produced by Soulshock and Karlin, the cut is the lead single from the European re-release the singer’s ‘Killer Love’ LP. It will also reportedly serve as the latest Stateside release from the serially delayed US incarnation of the project.

What are you waiting for?

Rubbish.

At this stage, there really is no point beating about the bush when it comes to Nicole and this project. The song is quite simply a boiling hot mess. The video doesn’t redeem either.

Despite a solid array singles, success in other territories, X Factor and hordes of promo, the US audience still aren’t buying into her brand. Something this faux Taylor Swift cut won’t help.

And with ‘help’ being something her US presence is in much need of, she’s fired a blank with this one. Like really, it’s shambolic to be this ‘deep’ in the game (and have that much backing) and yet your sound, image, and personality are still unsolved mysteries. One minute she’s popping it and tossing it in ‘Right There’, and when that didn’t catch on, she’s now Alice in Wonderland. Girl…

Here’s usually the part where we’d express some some sort of optimism. Unfortunately for Nicole, we’ve all but run out.

What? This is much better than what’s on radio now Eg. “We found love” etc this is good IMO

  3. sugarwall October 18, 2011

IMO Right There is the best track in that album!

  4. Allen October 18, 2011

Beautiful location..no prep. It was OK. TGJ get off your high horse and let her worry about it

  5. Jon October 18, 2011

I think the song is alright, it gets kinda addictive after a while lol, and I think it’s quite refreshing to see a softer side of her. But I understand where you’re coming from. Just that rubbish seems a little bit too harsh 🙂

  6. manfred October 18, 2011

why boda posting the video if you gona shade. watch the song go to the top of the euro charts. USA am not sure of, but this is an euro smash. btw the happy feel of the song f****** made my day.

  7. Jon October 18, 2011

Lol, and I dunno why but the setting reminds me of LOTR.

  8. I.D. October 18, 2011

I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with this track..

  9. Aryo October 18, 2011

f*** off sam, if u dont like the song , it doesnt mean its rubbish

  10. Aryo October 18, 2011

    it shows nicoles other side!
singers need to show their other sides and shudnt stick to one side only

  11. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) October 18, 2011

Nothing special, nothing spectacular. It’s VERY VERY boring and basic.I wouldn’t call it a hot boiling mess and I don’t think she’s a hypocrite (even though she still hasn’t established an artistic identity or a specific lane), but I’m not impressed.

I somehow KNEW that this song would be slower in pace (not really a ballad), which means that my industry predictions are getting more and more accurate! And my correct prediction is the only thing I’m going to remember from this video 😳 😛

Kidding aside, whilst it’s a good effort and a good thought of her label, the execution lacks MASSIVELY.I can definetely see where they tried to go with it, but it just…FAILS.’I Hate This Part’ was a ballad with a beat too, but it wasn’t that boring. They really don’t have a direction for her.I feel like they are just throwing content out to keep the inexistent interest going.

If you’re saving money to buy her album in December, don’t hold your bre-e-eath 😳

  12. The Perrylicious is taking over (A living legend on TGJ) October 18, 2011

    Like i care???
    FLOPPPPP!!!!

Britney’s Criminal music video is slaying pop industry.
    Deal with it!

  13. A October 18, 2011

I wasnt expecting the beat change…

    the song sounds really good.

I was expecting something bad because of the article, but this sounds good, and the video has a GREAT seat and some good shoots (others not so much)…

    Liked this song.

  14. Romeo October 18, 2011

    lmfaoooo ALICE IN WONDERLAND!

  15. KD October 18, 2011

LOL…Tell us how you really feel Sam.

I have to agree. Nicole better have her prayer beads ready because once X-factor wraps up she won’t have much to fall back on (aside from Lewis Hamilton’s money).

  16. YOOSONDALOOSE October 18, 2011

It is okay. But nothing will save Nicole I don’t think in the US.

  17. Aryo October 18, 2011

    @Perrylicious
    u 2 faced b****…

  18. artemis October 18, 2011

Do you remember your post on DHYB? I think this song will have the same faith of it.. I know you believe in Nicole’s talent and this is frustrating you.. Heard that this will only be for the UK re release and not in the US version. The song sounds radio friendly, written well, maybe give it a shot.

  19. Nahjee October 18, 2011

Iike ya let’s keep it real.. Who really listens to this girl like come on now like she is hot as hell. But who really listens to this chick.. Tha p**** cat doll albums she would be tha only one singing nobody eles barly gets a chance to speak there mind. She just takes over everything that’s why they album flop plus she is trying to keep her self relevent with that x factor show

  20. SAM October 18, 2011

this songs hot! and she looks amazing!

  21. artemis October 18, 2011

Remember your post on DHYB? The song proved you wrong, right? Well at least in Europe. This sounds a Euro smash, and as I’ve heard, it’s only for the UK rerelease and not for the US version. The song is radio friendly, well written. Give it a chance.

  22. Nika October 18, 2011

Rubbish – at 1st the vid went with the song; then the beat changed and the vid stayed the same. It just didn’t work ~ for me!

  23. brian b October 18, 2011

It isnt worse than any of that pop euro crap that’s on radio right now like really, if u like those other songs u should like this too.. personally I like her more in songs like “Amenjena” and “You Will Be Loved”

  24. brian b October 18, 2011

One Final thing, she has such nice songs but they don’t bother promoting her properly, she has a song called “Casualty”.. it’s like this song but waaaay bettter, it actually sounds like time was put into it… she shoulda gone with that instead.. but that’s just me

  25. Destinyboston October 18, 2011

Hate on the TGJ… for postin s*** just to talk s***!! whats so bad ? bad press is good press ….thanks for the exposure 🙂

  26. Ineedtohearyousing October 18, 2011

I don’t know why some people even bother with continuing to hate. Whether people like Nicole or not, she isn’t going anywhere. If you’re not a fan of a singer, why bother reading an article that pertains to them? Also, to those saying that Nicole hasn’t found an artistic identity yet, I do not understand where you are coming from. The artist that she is is one of versatility. She sings many genres, and masters them all, and that is who she is as an artist. She isn’t a one-trick pony.

  27. Damn Right October 18, 2011

I really don’t understand this hate. Sure there is nothing original about this track, but is there really anything that original happening in the music industry at the moment? No. it’s all generic dance s***, with the exception of a few. Kelly Rowland, jennifer Lopez and Nicole Scherzinger need to create a supergroup as all their music is basically the same anyway – soaring female vocals over a thumping dance beat.

  28. delroy October 18, 2011

I like it, it is so much better than “wet”.

  29. honeydip October 18, 2011

FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER @HONEY_DIP11 I FOLLOW BACK!

  30. tyler October 18, 2011

UM THATS WHY YOU NEVER LET LITTLE GAY F**** COMMENT ON VIDEOS. SAM IS STUPID AND GAY…… LITTERALLY.

OK 1ST OFF I THOUGHT IT WAS CALLED TALENT WHEN YOU EXPLORE ALL ASPECTS AND GENRES OF MUSIC… ISNT THAT WAT BEINIG AN ARTIST IS ALL ABOUT..

JUST BECAUSE SHE IS SHAKING AND POPPING IN THE RIGHT NOW VIDEO AND THEN DOES THIS IS HER PROBLEM NOT YOURS. SHE OBVIOUSLY WANTS TO DO DIFFERENT THINGS…… THAT DOES NOT MEAN SHE DOESNT KNOW WHAT SHE WANNA BE

KERI HILSON CAN PUT OUT A COIUNTRY ALBUM AS HER THIRD ALBUM AND DOES NOT MEAN SHE DOESNT KNOW WHAT SHE WANTS……. USING HER AS AN EXAMPLE… MY POINT IS EVERYONE DONT WANT TO JUST DO POP OR ONLY R&B OR ONLY ROCK… IDIOT

  31. Damiso October 18, 2011

It started off nice… She should have kept it slow… Everything doesn’t have to be a dance track

  32. E October 18, 2011

    Katy Perr-ish much..?

  33. KAT DELUNA FAN October 18, 2011

THE SONG SOUNDS THE SAME AS THE OTHER POP STAR AND VIDEO IS NOTHING MORE OR LESS THAN THE “ONLY GIRL” OR “COLLIDE” CONCEPT?
    WHY THE HATE?

    IT WAS CUTE 🙂

    @BRYAN BEE
    SO AGREE

    @ARYO
    THEY ARE ALL FAKE HERE

  34. Aryo October 18, 2011

    @kat deluna fan
    yeah they are

  35. Aryo October 18, 2011

yall b****** need to stop being this negative about her, the music shes making shits on all those songs that go #1 in US so easily!

  36. tyra October 18, 2011

ITS NO DIFFRENT THAN WHAT IS ALREADY OUT RIGHT NOW SO WHATS THE BIG DEAL?

  37. makemeproud October 18, 2011

i think the video is beautiful but the song is awful..

  38. D.Strock October 18, 2011

    @aryo
If her songs s*** so badly on U.S. hits than why don’t they chart like it? Because Americans don’t know good music? Take a seat

  39. Nai October 18, 2011

The soft/slow part , in the beginning, reminded me of an Avril Lavigne track. The uptempo part reminded me of a Katy Perry track. Meaning, either one of those chicks could have sang this song and probably had better luck with it than Nicole. It’s not a horrible song. I prefer it over Nicole’s other releases. In fact, I think this would have been better if it were a ballad (as I thought it was in the beginning).

  40. Ej October 18, 2011

I liked pcd nicole. Im kinda put off bc in pcd she was like o yea we love each other, etc and then u hear these stories of how the other girls were treated. Sounds like shes fake. Also the different ” shades” of girls was a good look

  41. mr.m October 18, 2011

    @Aryo

    STFU, B****

    Nicole is a FLOP!!!!!!!!!!!!

    deal with it

    FLOP OF THE CENTURY. PERIOD

  42. the flye’s eye October 18, 2011

I don’t really get this review…in terms of her European market which is what this single is for considering its for the re-release it should do quite well.

I’m not generally a Nicole fan but she looks phenomenal is this video focusing on her natural beauty as well as a visually stunning video from the scenery. Personally its quite similar to Don’t Hold Your Breath in terms of sound.

And every artist goes back and forth with their song choices as they need to shake things up a little bit. She can’t go around grinding against swimming pool walls and rolling her hips in feathers and furr in every video!

  43. A October 18, 2011

lol i like how TGJ trashed it…then put up a vote box…and more than half of the ppl say its a hit. TGJ JUST GOT OWNED!!! :p ahahahaha, perhaps you guys are being too harsh on the artists of today. Especially Rihanna. I havent read a single good thing about her on your page. Appreciate what each artist has to offer instead of criticizing it all the time.

  44. mitch October 18, 2011

She needs Pussycat dolls type songs.!!!!!!
none of her solo tracks have been like that &
    that’s what she needs.

  45. Jasmine October 18, 2011

I like it. She needs a hit though. This track is good but why push it as a single instead of her getting a better song.

  46. Erick October 19, 2011

Love this song! It grew on me she’s amazing! Can’t wait for her album!! =)

  47. ARYO October 21, 2011

    f*** u @mr.m

  48. JT October 30, 2011

I LOVE this song and video. Nicole is so underrated.
